Since they won't be updating the threads during the broadcast, where can we watch a real-time translation of it?
Reddit FFXIV Discord server has live translation.
Reddit usually has at least 1 or 2 people on top of things.
What's the link to their Discord?
The state of SE's communication in 2018: we need to rely on fans and 3rd party websites to get important official news as it's being broadcast. "At least they still translate it a week after the fact" is not a good excuse.
While I’m sure it’s never explicitly stated the Live Letters are mostly for the JP community. We NA kiddies get Duty Commenced like a few weeks later. (Which is heavily abridged and doesent go into that much detail like an LL does.) kinda wish they’d coordinate duty commenced and the LLs at the same time but I doubt it.
Men, feal like is disrespect really if we have to wait a week or so for official translation. Next step probably make it so only JP can watch the live letter even tho we NA/EUR don't understand it anyway.
Didn't they say Twitter would have it?
I mean I would watch duty commenced but kinda meh
If it was on YouTube I'll probably watch it from my phone, don't really like going through twitch.
Bayohne typically does a live unofficial translation on the forums:

If you read the details of the letter, they specifically announce that they're moving it to twitter. There is a specific reason for this: Not everyone reads the forums. They're more likely to reach the full FFXIV audience through Twitter. However, (although admins are immune to this limit) 1,000 characters to post with here is frustrating enough. trying to translate in 280 character blocks is going to be irritating.
Kind of follow-up to my second question those who responded earlier where can you find the link for the Reddit Final Fantasy XIV Discord?
This is still the official place for the FF14 community and its sad that they will stop using it. NA and EU together make up the majority of the playerbase, yet we now have to either wait for a summary, read twitter with its even smaller amount of words per post or hope that the fan translations are good enough.
I'm just glad we're getting DQXI over in the West. I loved DQVIII but I never got the chance to play any of the other DQ games.
I do think they're well aware of much of FF's success being tied to the West, though. It's a shame we're not engaged as directly as the Japanese playerbase.

They have a translations channel where stuff is posted on the go, note some things wont be 100% accurate since it's a fan translation, but Yoshida tends to give small details that don't make it to the official translation so it's good to follow both.
