Already bought 6 months in Crysta, but I guess that's good news for those who didn't like it ;)
And before people say "oh not everyone has a credit card" you can use a debit or a pre paid / rechargable visa
Sadly there were a LOT of issues with not only crysta but click and buy as well. Everything went through a middle man when life could've been so much easier taking money directly from us. Hell, they probably make more money now that they don't have to pay a middle man. My husband and I already paid for 6 months but the second it's up we are switching to this payment method instead.
3rd thread today about the same topic?
wow.
maybe i should start one as well.
The more things change the more they remain the same. Looks like the same system in place prior to Sept of last year. Wonder when they will let the FFXI players know. Hvaen't as of yet.
I can confirm that it works in Australia! :D
Great to hear that it worked for you catapult!
now go get your goobon
I have been waiting for the day I could like a post telling me I can now pay using my credit card directly to SE. Oh so easy. Its like we are living in the future where everyone can pay their subscription to an MMO simply by registering their card!
Thank you so much for this SE!!!
Switched my payment from C&B and over to direct payment with my Visa card:) I have heard not everyone has Visa, but in Norway, basicly everyone who has a bankaccount where salary goes into, gets a Visa card issues automatically from their banks. ^^
Thanks alot SE. You listened and delivered yet again^^
Direct Payment activated... Click and Buy account closed forever! It felt so good closing that putrid Click and Buy account, I relished every moment of clicking that cancel button! :D
Thank you SE!! No more Click & Buy and their damn extra fees!
Thank God.
Oh, and SE, too. <.<
Just because it is transparent it doesn't mean that there is no one in the middle.
There is and there will ALWAYS be someone in the middle. Square Enix isn't a bank and Square Enix never ever took money straight off you, even on FF XI, it wasn't directly taken off you.
I still love the new payment method, seamless :) Less hassle than C&B.
Just thought of somethig, if I have leftover crysta before switching to direct payment...will the crysta be used up first?
Hope all those that couldn't pay now can pay and get in :)
Glad you finally were able to pay Catapult!
This is awesome! Thanks for listening Squeenix!
So I switched immediately after seeing that, thanks a bunch SE. :D
Very surprised there was no VBV/MasterCard Secure Code on there. I take it that Square are comfortable keeping control of that liability themselves. Still, very glad I've been able switch all my transactions over to direct payment.
I never had any issue with C&B. It worked first time and has continued to work and bill me correctly, but I'm happier with a middle-man service being removed. In effect, I'd rather pay Square Enix for a Square Enix service than pay someone else who will pay Square Enix on my behalf for a Square Enix service.
If you mean the three digit nuber on the reverse side of the card, the system definitely asks for that.
I can't say I had C&B problems either but I set up my account when FFXIV was launched so the recent issues might not have been around back then. I was also unaware of any controversy about the service such as extra fees. I will need to cancel that account though but since it has been over a year since I set up the account, I will need to search back through my emails for the account username!
Direct CC payment is much easier, thanks SE!
There's an 'exchange' fee for their transactions. We have 2 accounts (my bf plays too) so we weren't too pleased with that. Granted it's not much, but still, it adds up. Regardless, I don't like going through a third party just to pay someone. Always seem sketchy.
I'm not talking about the 3 digits. I'm talking about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-D_Secure
I work in e-Commerce Fraud Prevention, so I run into it every day.
Wondering why they didn't announce this..unless they did and I didn't see it. o.O;
I like the Crysta thing just fine, essentially makes the "Ultimate Gamer Card" that's everywhere where I live into a Final Fantasy XIV time card, sorta. If I suffer brain damage and decide to unsub, I'm not gonna cry over the spare change.
However, I'm extremely happy to hear this because it's one less obstacle to anyone deciding whether or not to try the game or come back. :D
About damn time. Welcome to 2000 SE.
There have been several occasions when FFXI Players have reported that an "International Transaction Fee" has appeared on their statments when a charge from ClickandBuy comes in. This fee is being charged by the bank, not ClickandBuy, and is in addition to the charge by ClickandBuy itself.
Square-Enix did announce at one point on the FFXI pages that the issue had been resolved. But I've seen new reports of continued charges of this "International Transaction Fee" when a ClickandBuy transaction comes in, both here on the FFXIV forums, and also the FFXI forums since that announcement. So it would appear it's not fixed.
More the reason to avoid ClickandBuy in spite of the fact the fee is the bank's doing.
