All the eureka instance servers on CHAOS are very laggy you will only be able to move one or two steps before you get a disconnect sign on your head.
If you move too much you will get kicked from the game with a 90k error.

same as opener, entire team and people in shout complained about it, got dc't as well
It seems to have settled now, but it was VERY bad
Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
Lag may have been caused by congestion as the content was just released.
Miwe, if you are still experiencing problems, please provide the following information:
- Platform (PC, PS4, Mac)
- Type of connection (wired or wireless)
- Other programs running while the game is playing (if any)
- Everything you have tried to resolve the issue
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
Platform: PC
Wired 125mbit fiber
No other programs running
Got a partly resolve by joining eureka solo instead of a group and hoping we got into the same instance. Was not just me but everyone in the eureka instance that kept crashing and getting the dc sign.
Thank you for the information Miwe.
Again, the lag may be due to congestion, which may exacerbate any existing connection issues you may have.
Try resetting your router (turn it off and leave it off for a few minutes).
Make sure that any anti-virus/firewall you have has an exception for Final Fantasy XIV
Try performing a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
Ensure that the latest version of Internet Explorer is installed on your PC (even if you don't use Internet Explorer), please do not use Edge as that is a different internet platform. Once Internet Explorer is up-to-date, please open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or to "Allow All Cookies"
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
- Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
- Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
- Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Hello Kusanagi7,
Thank you for your input on this thread!
did eureka the first day, and had no issues. logged on yesterday and was nothing but 90k all day. got home from work today and still nothing but 90k. would really like to know why.
Thank you for the information Terrorofdeath.
I'm going to make the same assumption as before. The content is still new so there may be some congestion issues and this can make any connection issues you may have worse.

Hiya, just to chime in on this.
The Eureka instances on Chaos have been *hugely* overloaded at peak hours the last couple of days.
Stating that it's new content doesn't fly with me at all I'm sorry. Initially it was absolutely no problem even when everyone was crammed into areas such as the port and beach. It looks like the player base switching to a fate train approach is overloading the CPU time available to the instance if my somewhat dated experience is to be believed.
Whilst I'm not getting DC'd personally, I've had groups where as many as 5 others within the group were all getting synchronised DC symbols. Switching instances typically fixes it until the crowds arrive there as well.
These disconnects aren't player PC or network caused problems. It is either in the server or the SE ISP network connecting the server. It could be an SE client issue as well with how it handles all of the heavy graphics activity. As I don't tend to have the disconnects with other heavy events like Ixion I lean towards the server. I have had disconnects and it only occurs on a full instance with everyone stacked up for the same NM. If we are spread out across Eureka everything is fine.
Hello,
Thank you for the input on this thread!
Yeah, the game servers just cannot handle a full instance of people gathering in one place to attack the same target. At 144 people per instance of Eureka, it's the same issue that happened when Ixion fate in Lochs was popular. At best you get unplayable lag spikes, at worst waves of players are disconnected from the server.
This has been happening to me as well, in Eureka, Palace of the Dead, and Frontlines. Movement (even just running through Point Surgate) will lead to frequent 90k errors (90002 specifically) while remaining in place or minimizing movement allows me to remain connected. I've tried rerouting my connection, switching to an ethernet cable, checking for packet loss...
It keeps happening.
Same issues! I've been having issues with Palace since before Stormblood was released. I've tried to get assistance from Support and nothing ever helped. So, I just gave up on my solo run and trying to get to floor 200!! I wasn't into PvP all that much until recently and I can't do that without 90k popping up on my screen. And Eureka is damn near unplayable! I barely walk out of that starting area and I get 90k repeatedly!
Did all of that and I'm still having issues! Seeing as I'm a PC User through Steam, I had you change Steam's compatibility mode and run Steam as an Administrator (since XIV launches through Steam for me). I'll have Discord & Firefox running while I play. I can farm the EX primals, do raids, and the like and have no problems. But the moment I try Eureka, Palace, or PvP? 90k heaven! Any help on this matter would be amazing!
Thank you for the update ShamiraVivas.
Try to run the launcher itself as Administrator. Steam is used to open the launcher, but they are viewed as two different programs. Also make sure that the other programs you have open are closed while playing the game.

Think sometimes see few hundred all together in one place for fates. I get disconnected every few seconds when get to congested place. My fps doesn't drop and my ping stays at 40 but Receiving jumps to over 16000 then disconnected form the server. Needs fixed right away because it is very unfair where can't get your relic gear because of it.
Hello hynaku.
If you are having disconnections as well, please try some of the troubleshooting steps I posted in the first page of this thread.

All ready did those steps and didn't change anything. 30 seconds in eureka game freezes up but chat still works. Had internet come out everything was working how it was so pose to be. Have game turned down to the lowest settings and still freezes the game when inside eureka but runs just fine outside it.
Still having problems connecting to PlayStation Network to play. If it does connect, I can sometimes get the white loading screen that then boots me. Then I can be playing no problem when all of a sudden I dc and can’t log back into psn. This has been happening since Eureka dropped. I can’t even get into Eureka without dcing immediately. My internet is working great as are all other games. Psn needs to fix this, please
I may be counting my chickens before they hatch.
I have been plagued with disconnects in PvP and PotD for a long time now. I hoped I wouldn't have this problem with Eureka. But I did. Some hours worse then others, but consistently getting disconnects. I was so irate I even quit for a few days. But then I actually followed Einmimiria's advice instead of lying and being all "I know how computers work, jerks!" And two days. Both Eureka and Frontlines (haven't tried PotD yet). Not one disconnect.
So please, if you are seriously having this problem, please follow Einmimiria's advice. If I do start disconnecting again, I'll report back. Thanks support team!
Note, I have windows 10. I never touched IE's settings since it installed itself on my computer (I think last summer or so?), so a lot of the default options were more restrictive then Einmimiria's recommended settings. If you're a Win10er too, this could be the root cause of your problem.
Platform: PS4
Connection: Wired, 100 mbps.
Other programs or apps: none.
What i did so far?: I connected my ps4 to my computer to try a vpn; I called my ISP to check if my service is al right from them, and they send me the speed. Restarted my modem, also, before everybfame, and lowered my graphics needs on the menu of the game anf it still lags, a lot. Honestly I dont even know what to try now.
Freezing up means everything just stopped and nothing is moving. But chat works just fine when it happens. When does freeze up says my ping is 30 to 40 and fps never drop. But receiving jumps to over 16000. Then have to force exit game because never got a error and stayed frozen last time for 6 minutes then I closed the client. Have apps running and firewall lets ffxiv run thru it. Even did same thing when used no modem and had it direct wired to my pc. Just think Its to many in Eureka same time. Samething happens when saw 100 players outside potd waiting in duty finder. What is weird did Stormblood hunts right after and had not disconnects and there was over hundred gathered in one spot. they better think of some other way to upgrade your relic gear because eureka is a very huge failure. how bad the game is getting don't plan buying anymore your expansions just to have same problems again. All eureka is to be is gigantic headache.
- Platform: PC
- Type of connection: Tried wired and wireless, 50mbps
- Other programs running while the game is playing: Problem exists even when XIV client is only thing running
- Everything you have tried to resolve the issue: Tried the listed troubleshooting tips previously mentioned in the thread, have monitored the games connection for ping and packet loss, noticed some very high ping spikes, and some lost packets, but generally my ping stays at or under 100ms.
My disconnection issue only exists in Eureka, i am able to play everywhere else perfectly fine. While in Eureka i am unable to play normally. If I move continuously I will disconnect. The only way the game becomes someone playable is if I pause for 1-2 seconds every 2-4 seconds that I move. If i do not do this I get disconnected. It makes it very difficult to make it to fates in time if I am not already there. There has been countless times I was not a able to make it in time to get credit, which is very frustrating. I seem to be effected by this more than others, but I have talked to multiple people who also get DCd frequently in eureka. Ive got my fingers crossed that maintenance tonight will address and fix the issue, because i cant play like this its too much stress.
Thank you for the update everyone.
There are a few suggestions I missed in the previous post.
Makes sure you have a wired connection (as opposed to wireless) if you do not already.
Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
Your ISP may forward these ports for you.*
