The content isnt to bad whats bad is I have been playing for 6 hours and have 24 protean crystals, I need 4300 for my full set which is I 350. I have crafted dark knight gear better than this already
It seems a lot of people went into Eureka expecting to plow through it like all the other content in the game. Its meant to take a long time.... take your time, there is no rush.
No, I did expect it to be a grind. Even a long one.
I expected it not to be an awefully boring, diadem-like nightmare though. But instead something that might be fun and engaging. It isnt. Its "Kill this mob. And then that one. And then 30 more of them. And then change your elemental wheel so you can kill the next 20 slightly faster".
I mean, maybe the content is just not for me, but I cant see how "standing in one spot with 8 people to kill mobs over and over again for hours" is fun to anyone?
And before you tell me that your fun comes from the chats you're having while doing that: Thats fun thats not related to the content at hand. Thats fun you could have by standing around with that party in Kugane. Its not game-fun. Its social fun that you need to create yourself... not fun the devs created during the last 17? 18? months.
I've been enjoying myself in Eureka quite a bit. It's grindy, for sure, but after playing Ragnarok Online for 4 years as a teen this stuff is a cakewalk (and also makes me realize how old I am, haha!) And I keep seeing people mention how few Crystals they have, but after 6 hours I already have my WAR axe upgraded once (100 Crystals) and could very well upgrade an armor piece if I decided to trade in my Anemos Crystals. So I don't know if it's luck or a difference in how we're approaching the grind that's giving us such varying amounts of crystals.
I honestly think it's not even that long, with the right optimization at least the first weapon can be done in 1 lockout even less, frankly I blame totems and tomes for the too much backlash that ppl do with ANY form of long term goal which imho is a problem.
@nezerius they are 120 substats (80 for crafted) better than those gears, not much but they add up eventually, if the next steps brings them to 360 with the next patch they might interfere with ultimate imho
I think your missunderstanding why people are upset.
We alrdy had 2 relic grinds previously so people knew it was going to be grindy, but during ARR and HW those grinds had options, if you were light grinding you could choose different types of content from dungeons to trials to raids heck even fates to collect it.
I would have no problem grinding for the relic for years to come aslong as the grinding had options and was actually enjoyable but this is about as mind numbing as its going to get cause the only options we have is standing still killing mobs over and over.
And sure some people may enjoy it right now, but thats cause they have been doing it for a few hours, compare this to 40, 50 or 100 hours down the road.
after they saying that killing rare enemies would be required to get the relic did you really thought it was going to be a 100% drop that easy? on a content that is by design made to be long and grindy?
"no rush take your time"
"take time to explore"
Explore what? I went across the entire map at lvl 1.
Ontop of that there is nothing to do but take your time because after killing 200 of the same mob people stop trying as hard and a simple mob takes forever to kill.
Same recycled monster skins, with a stupidly simple pokemon element system, with virtually no mechanics except big aoes done by NM.
You are the reason we get lack luster content cause it comes out and you find any excuse to make it worth while. Unsubbed.
It isn't bad on paper. It's just loot-less and depends on zerging too much. Fix those 2 problems and you'd be seeing Eureka linkshells, statics, and PFs popping all over the place.
Until someone pointed it out to me, I didn't realize that you can trade Anemos crystals to Gerolt for 2-5 Protean Crystals each.
I had a stack of ~400 Anemos crystals, which turned into 1300 Protean crystals, which was enough for the +2 weapon.
I can craft the i350, and I have the tome i360, but I do like how the i345 BLM relic has crit + spell speed!!
This - I wish normal enemies would occasionally actually drop some useful loot, perhaps something like crafting mats or sellable/desynthable gear!! Right now they only droploot boxlockbox tokens, and the boxes only seem to have unsellable/untradable items and fireworks
the only problem i see with it is there is almost zero reason to do anything but NM zerg train
even the lowest level one is worth more experience than a chain 30
anemos crystals from NM are way more abundant than trying to chain for protean
you only get loot boxes from the NMs
and the random nostalgia drops are only from NMs
they really need to just put in some random repeatable quests in the hub.
"go find the sparkly point" or "kill X mobs" that give some exp/protean/boxes
i do enjoy the danger aspect of it and understand the accelerating nature of the grind. getting crystals will probably be super fast once you've done the grind once
I agree what others have said in that the problem isn’t strictly with the grind but with what you’re grinding.
Eureka is all well and good on paper, but when it becomes clear it’s just another FATE train on a nice map, it’s hard not to be at least a little disappointed.
With more to do in the area than just attacking normal mobs and doing FATEs, I think people would be much happier with their content.
For me at least it seemed that trying to get kill credit/XP/crystals at the level-appropriate NM spawn point was better than mindlessly killing everything. I also liked that some of the FATEs devolved into horrible bloodbaths like Odin in ARR before people figured him out.
It also seems more effective to split into multiple teams working on multiple pops simultaneously, since there is a point of diminishing returns and also since lower-level players don't contribute much to high-level farms.
But this is right I think - regular enemies don't drop anything and don't give a lot of XP or protean/anemos crystals, so there isn't a huge incentive to kill them individually as a party.
