If you don't like it, you can easily circumvent it by lowering your item level.
Own queue? I'm not sure i understand your question OP.
1) Rabanstre HAS its own queue
2) Personally I prefer getting Rabanstre in raid roulette over basically everything else (Dun Scaith is kinda okay too) - so... what are we doing now?
I like Raba, you dont - I'll suck it up when I get LotA, you suck it up when you get Raba since thats how a roulette works. Deal?
Grab a buddy who needs exp, sorted.
But... you realise that this roulette - like all roulettes - is supposed to get people into content that would be "dead" otherwise? I doubt that Rabanstre would be completly dead already, but by feeding roulette-people into your queue, that pops faster and you have less wait time.
A bit down the road its basically "Do you want to do Rabanstre with 'this kind of people' - or not at all?"
Also... dont fool yourself - we always had idiots in Rabanstre. There might have been a window of two or three weeks at the start (and after two weeks or so had passed and everyone had learned the mechanics) when you could get easy runs in, but since and before then we always had horrible groups on occassion. People are not used to the slightest amount of difficulty - but that wouldnt change much if you'd take it out of the roulette. You'd still get aweful players, making lots and lots of mistakes but you'd wait longer for them (and you) to get in there.
Assuming that you dont like Rabanstre is nasty? Specially when your OP says "the raid is a kiss of death for the raid roulette" - which sounded like you were concerend over the roulette, not about rabanstre and wanted it out of there. I might have missunderstood that, english isnt my native language, but to me that sounded like "Adding Rabanstre to the roulette killed the roulette for me because I'd rather run LotA again"
Not really understanding. You have to be lvl 70 to run it. All the people queing for xp are under lvl 70 therefore they wont get the instance when they do the roulette.
The main reason the roulette is annoying is that SE basically implemented Alliance Roulette to force people into the older content, because there are people that haven't seen crystal tower or the original alliance dungeons that got released years ago. I do think they need to break up the roulette like they did with dungeons, just right now it's probably only doable in two layers and they only have one new alliance raid out right now. Once they get one more roulette target they will probably break up the alliance roulette.
Rabanstre once a week; ok, we can deal with the wipes, challenge is fun.
Rabanastre once a day for tomes; dear god we hate this.
Once you put something into a roulette you expect people to run once per day or so, the last thing you want to do is make it hard or a wipe fest. Keep in mind whey they started the roulette we massively overgeared all of them; Rab is the first one most people won't, and its very trivial to wipe people in it even with boosted HP.
Not to mention the fight mechanics. The last boss has mechanics that are do or die and the simon says section isn't entirely obvious. I know I had to ask a friend and watch a video to figure out what was going on when I started. Also the first boss is super easy to mess up.
I just queue with a friend who’s leveling RDM currently. Barring that, unequip some items to drop below the ilvl requirement for it. It’s what we had to do for trial roulette during 3.3 when it was Final Steps Roulette.
Yes. This right here is the reason every roulettes exists: To get people into old content they wouldnt do otherwise, so people who have never done it or looking for a specific piece of loot or want to do a certain dungeon/raid/trail for any other reason can get in. Its not primarly there for you to get easy tomes, but to fill those queues that wouldnt fill up otherwise. The tomes are you reward for being willing to submit yourself to a random dungeon.
They're not gonna break up alliance roulette. The reason the other roulettes are broken up is to channel more people into certain dungeons - right now that would be the recent level 70 dungeons. We're seeing a roulette for 50/60 content and one for 70 content. The 70 content is recent, more people need to run it, so we need to fill up those queues more. The level 50/60 is less frequented, so its okay that theres a wider spectrum of dungeons in it.
Come 5.0 we will probably see a 50/60/70 roulette - not a break up of alliance roulette.
First: Yes, imagine something in this game where you actually have to pay a bit attention and deal with mechanics! ...sorry, I dont mean to be rude, but "I cant faceroll this content!"-type of complain never sits right with me. More mechanics should be "do or do" instead of me, on my bard, telling me healer friend "You know what, I'm gonna ignore this one, just heal me up again" (and then having my healer friend slap a regen on me because thats enough to not only keep me alive but also get me back to max HP in a few ticks) - I'm not asking for savage in normal content, I'm asking for mechanics that you cant just ignore.
And second: How do you think LotA was when it was the current 24-man-raid? Do you remember the "jumping around the outside"-mechanic of that fist-fight-guy in ST? How often did you wipe to CoD in WoD because someone wasnt killing whack'a'mole-snakes? And when was the last time you saw those snakes? The same thing is happening to the HW-24-man raids - we're overgearing them.
Sooner or later we will overgear Rabanstre aswell - its already possible (and happens often enough) that you skip the snake-add-phase at Mateus. That Hasmalim only barely gets to summon the "split up"-sandstorms. That Argath jumps a way for his roomwide AoE with that one safe spot with less than 10% HP left.
But yes, til then Rabanstre is a raid where your biggest challenge isnt to get half of your party standing put on one platform.
You get your tome-stone reward as a reward for queuing up, willing to potentially deal with that.
I'm surprise they already threw it into the roulette already. I think this game needs a Karma system. That way I can party with people that put in work and those that like to be carried, can fend for themselves.
Nah, I get the complaint now and it's a legit one a majority of people that run Alliance Roulette do it for the easy run, so if they get Rab it becomes a hassle to complete. Since there are a good handful of people that wanted the easier run they don't put their heart into it or they complain the whole way through.
In that respect I to would of preferred to see the 4.X series of 24-man raids stay out of the roulette til 5.X series.
I would rather get Raba in my roulette. I prefer the more difficult content. Means I can't sleep through it and is a lot more fun.
I'd rather not get anything from the crystal tower raid series.
Wait Rabanastre is in the roulette and I still get LotA every day? Honestly I'd kill to have Rabanastre pop, like others have said I enjoy content where you have to pay attention or die. Being so bored in a raid that I can pull up Netflix and watch it while still exceeding the non existent expectations of the raid is not fun.
I got rabinastre in my raid roulette yesterday. I was quite surprised, but I like Rabinastre, so I didn't mind. It was a smooth run and got lots of tomestones and got my weekly coin all in one go. Now that's efficient!
I'd love to get it again.
While I get why the OP may be upset as it has already been addressed in this thread numerous times, Rab has its own queue - it is called duty finder and duty finder pairs people in all categories, either it be by manually queuing for it or just getting it through alliance roulette, which is honestly random. Heck, I would love to get anything above lv. 50 in alliance roulette so honestly, if it is that bad, then just take a break from the game and play a level 50 class, lower your ilvl, or something, I dunno.
While completion is a whole other story for Rab since people still to this day wipe to Hasmal (a.k.a Stone Boy) due to unforeseen reasons or don't follow bloody mechanics, do not blame SE as what you are suggesting may or may not happen, ever.
This is how I look at it, as with everything in this game, if you have time to complain about a wipe and you know how to fix 'said' problem, maybe you should explain it to the people who do not know? Just food for thought.
Yeah the best solution is to just take off your right side gear when you queue and then put them back on once you get into a raid
What? Rabanastre runs have not been any worst than usual.
It belongs in the roulette. I don't queue for Alliance at level 70 with the intent of getting VA or LoA, I always hope for WoD, DS, or Mhach, since those are still fun.
Honestly I think it's just that people are queueing for it that are new to it, because most at this point don't need Raba to gear up at this point. All the good players barely run it anymore.
Rabanastre is super easy. None of the mechanics are confusing at all. The Simon says things is obvious once you realize "Angel" face means obey, "Devil" face means disobey. It takes like 2 seconds to explain...
I understand people who are new screwing up mechanics, but when you go in and no one is new there should be no reason to wipe. Every fight is ridiculously easily and very scripted. It should only take 1 run to fully grasp what the fights ask for. Nothing in the raid is complicated.
I have parties that wipe on Cloud of Darkness.
I don't think the content matters.
Today we wiped to the Atmos section of LotA.
I really don't think the content matters.
That being said I've done Rab a fair few times since it was added into the roulette ( never actually via roulette but still) and I do understand OP's point about the overall party quality drooping a bit.
All that being said I feel like as soon as people came out for their i340 weapon upgrades the overall quality took a bigger dive than it did recently.
I thought Weeping City was way harder than Rabanastre. As people gear up, it'll get easier and easier.
I just had a very smooth Rabanastre run with zero wipes.
When I'm on a lvl 70 queueing for Alliance. I want Rabanastre to pop...I'm only ever doing it for tomes anyway...and you get the current tomes from Rabanastre anyway. I cry if i get something else.
When I'm on a lvl 50/60 I don't mind though.
I just ask FC mates who aren't 70 on a job to join me for it.
It does have its own queue. It doesn't need its own roulette, because a roulette for one thing would be silly. Not everything can be sleepwalk "mechanics are for cars" content.
I am grateful for it. I've run it around 16 times this week so far - trying to gear up alts. If it weren't in the roulette, I'd never be able to get 6 jobs above 340 w/o clearing any ex/savage content.
Just take off your gear before you queue if you don't want to get certain raids in the roulette. Sometimes when I'm tired or in a hurry I just want my easy exp so I unequip everything except my chest and pants. Bam, nothing but LotA and Syrcus all day.
I really love having it in the roulette. I know I'm going to run it that week anyway, so it's very convenient getting it in the roulette. And running it provides good practice to fine tune how I perform in it. I enjoy the CT and VA raids as well. I'm just happy to have alliance raid roulette at all. Having all the possibilities in there is just a bonus.
