Do you think people take earned rewards for granted?

I've been thinking about this bringing up this topic for a while. Most people make debates on what rewards are suitable for different types of content.

But there are types of rewards I tend to see people take for granted too often. It's the dungeon gear drops from chests. People could have tried to use the greed choice on them to equip for different roles, sell them for gil, GC seals/FC points, and/or glams.

In most of my runs, I ended up getting almost of all of the gear. I don't mind using them and/or turning them in for GC seals for potential gil and glam. But if I wasn't in those runs, they probably would have dropped to the ground just as much as the Xanthos whistle does in tank mount farms.

So I don't know if I'm thinking too hard on this, but the rewards the party earns and how people measure their worth is something I wanted to bring up.

I remember when I played during 2.0, the cap being 50 and I had all my Crafts at 50. I liked running dungeons so I could level up my Desynthesis skills, I actually remember doing this a lot. I came back for 4.0 and have yet to get back on the crafting horse, properly, all I do is the Moogle beast tribe quests occasionally lol. Anyway, my incentive to loot gear to Desynth was pretty strong before. But I do find myself not caring about Dungeon loot at lvl70 yet, due to my crafting levels and Desynth levels being so far behind.

And because I'm not back into crafting yet, I find this makes me care less and be a bit more lazy. I don't feel the need for Grand Company Seals or even making Gil for that matter. Maybe this is just me for the moment though lol.

Well it depends on the player. Is every reward worth it for every player? NO

Take mob drops in dungeons for example. How many times do you get hides and just wish they would stop clogging up your inventory so you just discard them. You may come across another player who actually needs the hides and loves them dropping.

For me personally it depends on what the reward is.

Poetics, gil, mob drops, dungeon gear, minions, exp are all pretty useless to me. I have so much gil all these rewards are trivial for me, however for other players they may find use out of these rewards.

Anyway I don't take the rewards for granted, I just don't care for them anymore.

I haven't had a use for dungeon gear since 3.1 with Saint Mocianne's Arboretum and Pharos Sirius HM, where the uncapped Asuran/augmented Law gear was i180 and the dungeon gear was i185. I tend to just pass on everything since I'm always drowning in GC Seals and, while not totally capped, my desynth ratings (WVR, ALC and CUL) are very high. And desynth has been like 95% worthless/pointless since early 3.0 (easy access to mats via NPC'd goods), to the point where I'm honestly just waiting for them to either stop upping the cap or remove it entirely.

Generally I feel like this game just hands me everything, even if the hand-out is behind a really long timed lockout. So I don't view most of it as a reward, which probably qualifies as taking it/them for granted.

Considering my undying and unending thirst for seals, I hope they never figure out their true value. Leave the greens for me. Yeeeees.

Expert Roulette drops help keep my Desynthesis capped (Capped Desynth made me 17mil during 4.0 launch.)
Roulette Gear I can't Desynth is handed in for GC seals. (GC Seals for Relic upgrades and capping Squadrons.)

There's almost nothing I don't Need / Greed on these days. It all contributes to my empire in some form and adds up quickly.

I can't see how it could be taked for granted when there are no substitutes in place. It'd be nice if before I queue something, I could select what kind of rewards I want (like craft mats of a specific type but I digress). Taking it for granted would imply that it could be worse and that alternative could have negative consequences in the game if there's nothing else to properly offset them.

There are tons of things people take for granted on a daily basis, both real and virtual. You usually never truly realize something's value until it's gone.

Good on whoever does realize the value of what they have. Means they know to cherish it while they have it! :)

I don't bother because I don't log on for long enough to want to clear my inventory constantly, really. And there is nothing really I need the seals or gil for with how I play the game.

If I'll need them at some point, there is nothing stopping me from doing fast, unsynced runs of a dungeon that have minimum amount of progress blocks with a high-AoE class. Even if it'll be worth less, the speed and ease will make up for that where seals are concerned. And I did use desynthesis in this game thrice...so yeah. Don't care about the difference in income between high and low level gear from that.

I used to pass on everything because I didn't realize you could turn in dungeon gear to your GC for seals.

Now I greed on everything. Those seals keep me stocked on ventures which lets me send out my retainers more or they let me buy crafting components for building our FCs submarine (things I can't get by gathering).

In my opinion, it's not that we take it for granted... I know my fc and I, we share the same point of view on it, and it's basically "Unless you need it for your stuff (unlikely but hey) or for glamour, don't roll on it". It's precisely because we don't take it for granted that we let everyone who might want it have it, and I think that's lowkey the reason for everyone passing.

No the problem with dungeon gear is simple that they are often outdated pieces thus even if a dungeon is new only a certain part of the playerbase would even need that as a reward. On top of that there are probably people that have max amount of seals and a lot of the dungeon gear is recycled old stuff so barely any use for glamours.

So no I dont think that people take dungeon gear for granted, its simply the design descision of this game that makes a lot of the dungeon gear useless for quite a big amount of players. I mean people have to just wait for the next patch and they will get better gear or at least get the old stone gear cheaper. So why should they even use dungeon gear?

Because not everyone considers dungeon gear only for its stats. Anything can be used for glamour, and there is gonna be at least one person that'll want something in the game, so nothing is truly useless.

I mean, people could also sell the green items from the dungeons to an npc vendor for quick gil if they aren't willing to put up with having and/or spending more GC seals.

I believe in and apply the idiom of "a little goes a long way."

I know..thats why I said that probably a big amount of people dont even use them for glamour anymore because they are often reused gear thus some will not feel the need to roll on them. Which means that there are instances where you will be the only one that will roll on something but that this does not necessarily mean that people take rewards for granted but that they simply have no use for them.

I mean I have enough runs where I either got everything because people seemingly did not need anything at all (and did not even open the chests) but also runs where I barely got anything because everyone rolled on them. So the OP might have just been in more runs where people dont care. But that does not mean that people take them for granted.

I know I like to roll Greed on things I don't need but still want because I can turn them in for seals/fc credits. That alone makes anything useful, even if you don't keep it for glamour. And even though the whole reused skin thing is real, some people might actually prefer the reused skin.
