4.2 housing my experience

So I wanted to relocate my private estate to get a small on the mist beach (19-21), I had my alarm ready for 5am est and Gil in hand ready to Sprint to the house I wanted. Obviously I woke up at 7am est and thought I was far too late but I figured it wouldn't hurt to log on and try. To my surprise very little houses were taken up in mist in any of the plots so I grabbed plot 19 ward 18 with ease. There was probably 2 other private houses and 3 large/medium FC estates taken.

I'm on famfrit so it's lower pop then most, but I want to know other people's experience with 4.2 houses because it seemed way to good to be true for this to happen across all servers.

Oh boy, that's a bit of an oversight. Guess that's what happens when you tell people exactly how the new system will work weeks in advance.

On sarg the only houses that really got bought were mansions and mediums. I, of course, couldn't get a shirogane, so I went to goblet and not a single house was taken. I took the first one in the ward. I just logged back in and the 3 mansions in our ward are taken, the rest are sitting empty. Looking at the new wards added it seems the only real houses that were taken in goblet were mansions. Shiro is still sitting with most smalls still open and beds and mist still have mediums and smalls in abundance too.

I was able to relocate my FC from a medium in Shirogane to a large in lavender beds with no competition. I saw one person in the ward when I got there and she immediately hopped in the water to get to plot 11. I was also able to help another FC pick up our old spot in Shirogane.

All in all, a much better experience than The Great Housing Rush of 4.1. There are lots of empty houses on Midgardsormr, I hope to pick up a small personal if/when they lift the restriction. :)

My FC leader was 82 in queue and had her pick of shirogane plots to relocate our FC.

I was 322 in queue, logged in to an entirely empty mist ward.

I had some mishap with external furniture limit, teleported back to my house, cleaned lawn, and still had time to grab a large.

Even my FC leader got a goblet large 30 minutes after patch went live.

I just logged on 30 minutes ago and the new mist wards are practically empty except for the large plots.

Still shocked and 3rd time fighting the system to get a large house, finally was able to relocate from my small in Goblet to a large in Lavender Beds.
When I first ran to the large plot I wanted, saw someone standing at the sign so I made a run for the medium just above it and bought the plot.
Turns out about 3 mins later the large house was still open and nobody standing at it. Made a quick run down and of course I was on a timer for being able to relocate again.
Longest 3 mins of my life but shocking enough, nobody showed up to try and take it away.

I'm just glad it over with now and got a large. It not in shiro, but I had a feeling everyone would be going for there so I went with the next best option which was LB.

Now it'll take me months to get it all decorated.. not to mention, my funds are a whole 6.2mil now ;-; worth it though.

All in all, good experience here. No server bottle necking, 90k, nothing. Was smooth and clean. Just wish that person hadn't been standing at the sign when I ported in. Didn't want to be a jerk and steal it out from under them but maybe I should have since they didn't buy it for whatever reason. Would've saved me gil :p

My FC got our first house ever purchased despite a login error and a login queue for the people that were doing the land rush to grab a plot. We were expecting a race based on horror stories of the last housing releases, but it was pretty painless. Had we been able to raise the money in time, we likely could have grabbed a large or medium with little trouble. The ward was still mostly empty when I finally went to bed.

Had we known it would be this easy this time around, we may have tried to get a small in Shirogane instead of Mist, but our beachfront cottage is perfect so we are happy. \o/

had pretty much the same experience, Minus the buying a med, someone was standing by a large.. but didn't buy it, I even asked if something was wrong and.. after a few minutes of no reply, .. i decided to just buy it. I do figure it might have been a scout for an fc.. but.. what can one do. So we went from a medium in Goblet to a large in Lavender, All in all, I'm pleased with how this all went down. Though I just hope square wont rest just because it's temporarily better, but that they work to improve the system itself, and increase the amount of housing available.

I was 77 in queue and went to my desired plot 16/16 in Shiro and someone beat me to it by 5 seconds. I went to 16/30 and someone beat me to that. I then ported to Kugane, then shot for 18/16 and snagged it as first ward purchase.

All in all - a FAR better experience than last time. I fully expect that were wards to be added in bulk like this then housing will become far less of a luxury and more accessible.

Even now, in ward 18 there are plenty of smalls just waiting to be bought.

I don't understand why the housing equivalent of khakis isn't more popular. ;D "This just in, goblet plots were seen infiltrating other districts and dragging potential homeowners kicking and screaming back to their lair." Tons of smaller plots available surrounding the brimming heart in multiple wards too. I think Square should take a couple notes from this: Stop designing wards with so few larger houses and the goblet needs an update to all of it, not just the pool.

Shirogane sold out pretty fast; except for a few smalls in the new Wards, everything else is taken.
The Mist still has Mediums and Smalls available in the new Wards.
The Lavender Beds still has Mediums and Smalls available in the new Wards.
The Goblet still has Mediums and Smalls available in the new Wards.

Plenty of Smalls and a few Mediums have opened up in the old Wards—there was even a mansion that opened up in the Lavender Beds, but sold within 30-ish minutes to a relocator.

All the mansions sold out within 20-ish minutes. Friend and I completely avoided Shirogane trying to get an FC, and stuck to just the Lavender Beds. We had no trouble getting Plot 36 at all for the FC. I’m actually really pleased, considering we tried to upgrade during 4.1 Shirogane, and got Lobby Server errors and 90k’s, and by the time we got in 15 minutes later everything was gone.

It’s really something else to be out decorating and seeing all these empty plots. Not going to lie lol.

On Hyperion from what I can tell about half the new Larges were single owners relocating/upgrading to larges from smaller plots. Alot of the new medium and larges were taken by people relocating to upgrade to a bigger plot. Only took about 5minutes for all the medium and larges to be gone. Theres currently a ton of smaller plots left and I can't help but think that since they are currently FC locked that the reason they remain open is because FC's don't want smalls as opposed to no one can afford them. Hearing about all the small plots empty on other servers just makes me think that really no one ever wanted a small plot it was always people just settling til chance for bigger ones opened.

We still have mediums in the Goblet still open on Balmung of all places, not to mention the sheer number of smalls. So it looks like things will survive even here until personal purchases launch.

This isn't really helping the housing at all. But oh well, Stupid part on SE by letting people prepare in advance.

On Cactuar, was 201 in queue, had split gil up between me and FC leader to camp both Lavender Beds and Goblet - decided early on we were going to pass on Shirogane since we didn't want to risk missing out on a large FC house. Got in, raced like a lunatic to our plot choices in ward 13 since it was completely empty so far (plot 6 in LB, plot 13 in Goblet). We decided to go Lavender Beds since members seemed to like it more (I like Goblet T_T). Tried to transfer and had this moment of pure dread when we started getting an error because our housing storage was full. I raced back to the house and just started chucking furniture into my inventory while FC leader clicked frantically on the placard, expecting someone to come running up any second to buy it out from in front of us.

We got it eventually. And for about 5 to 10 minutes the only other house that sold in our ward was a nearby small that an FC member transferred to, and plot 11 (the nice waterfront medium). We threw the essential furnishings out and then went to watch the bloodbath at shirogane. XD

Overall it went much smoother than last time. I'm still a little shaky from that storage scare though LOL.

About 2 hours later there was still lots of smalls and mediums available in our ward. Larges were sold out server wide probably 30 minutes after servers went up?

Faerie! I didn't sleep well Sunday and yesterday was no different. I wanted to upgrade my small in LB to a medium that would also please my bf and I lowkey panicked as he only seemed to like the dread famous 11/41 plots xD (ah, there was no pressure from him or anything, it's something -I- wanted to do!)!
I was nervous, my experience with 4.1 was horrid, me and my FC didn't manage to get anything because of login errors and an almost 2k queue right after. Honestly I felt a bit defeated already, lol

Maintenance ending, headache going, I click on play and... 106 queue. Looked at the Ferry and the panic just increased as there were around 10 people around him, I could only think about the worst. PLOTS GONE YO!
Selected the ward without looking and... swam to the plot, LOL! OPEN!

An hour and a half later most of the plots except large and a couple mediums were still up, and last I checked half an hour ago there were smalls and mediums everywhere, and I even saw a large still open :)

Several hours later, the ward in Mist that my FC bought our house in still has lots of smalls open and 1 or 2 medium plots as well. Seems like there's plenty to go around now and I hope that some greedy FC doesn't come along with a bunch of dummy FCs and ruin it for people that want their own personal house, whenever that opens up.

Logged in right at 5:00am. Was 189th in line to get in. Got booted three times. Took me four minutes to get my character in the world. Choose a random ward from the new ones in Lav Beds on Diabolos, saw that one person had already purchased a property, decided to go subdivision, teleported into the closest aetherite, AND RAN!

No one else was trying to get it. So I got my mansion upgrade that I wanted. :-)

Diabolos, three and a half hours after opening, still had 12 mansions available in Goblet--three houses were also available in Shiro. No complaints for me for this launch. I didn't go for seriously popular property either, but it still worked out in the end!

On the same server as you are. My wife and I got our first FC house this morning in the Lavender Beds, but now I'm wishing I had the gil to relocate my small goblet house to either a small in LB or Shiogane lol. Alas, we only had about 5 mil to start the day and the FC plot + house + workshop took almost all of that LOL. We're back up to 200k after the wife sold some stuff on the market though. LOL

Matues: I and several FC members got in only a couple minutes after servers were up, and literally every large in Shirogane was taken. We were only planning to relocate, so no major loss. I went to bed not long after that (around 7-8am ish) and there were still larges in the other wards. Last time I took a peek through (LB and Mists at least), there were no larges left, but a surprising about of mediums, and a ton of smalls, in both new and old wards.

Here is hoping some mediums stay open, would really like to get one for a personal house. ;_;

I think it’s kinda bs that we can’t buy any personal houses if your a first time buyer also they haven’t even given a timeframe for when they’ll put back up individual housing

I logged on today in the afternoon because I was in no rush to get anything. I had a private house in the Mist, but my goal for *years* has been to own a small house near my FC house in the Lavender Beds. I bought that house for my FC back when the ward first launched in 2.3, so this was looooong before private houses were a thing. Eventually, people snagged up all the houses in the area and I thought I'd never be able to get one. I dreamed of owning a small house in the same 'neighborhood'. Well, today, when I logged in after maintenance was over, there were not many plots available (and none too close to my FC house), but when I logged in during the afternoon, I noticed that a close house had gone vacant. I was able to relocate with ease. It wasn't THE closest house, but it was basically the second or third closest, so I was okay with that. Overall, I was happy.

I know that the closest house is owned by what I can only assume is an alt. I've had my eye on that plot for a while... I know it's an alt because they didn't have any jobs over 50 last time I checked, and yet they still pay for a sub... and I never see them around. So I assume they're an alt of an active player. (It confuses me because I never see them using the gardening plots for anything, which is usually why people hoard plots... but to each their own.) Maybe if that one ever gets released, I can relocate again for another 3mil. Hahaha.

I managed to log on before the server icon went green but loding into the map gave an error and kicked me into a 400 que. Still several minutes later I managed to grab the house I wanted, but it was close, some dude was on a mount and had gotten off to try and beat me to it. It was literally like a 1 second difference. Also, I passed on two large plots thereafter so I think there was ample time for most people. The goblet larges were the last to go, no surprise there.

In mateus my bf and my brother were both able to log in before me. My bf managed to get the shirogane large plot I wanted for our fc and I managed to relocate to the plot I wanted in the goblet with ease. Around 11am shirogane larges were all gone while there were still sprinkles of larges in all other places. Before I went to sleep there were still lots of mediums and smalls in every district.

Just checked all the new wards on Famfrit a day after launch and the starting city states all have multiple large and mediums left with shirogane only having mediums left but that's no real surprise. Goblet even has multiple sub divisions that are 100% empty. I think I can say for at least small population servers that this was a success and hopefully they lift the personal housing restrictions in a week or so.

I myself had a personal small house in Shirogane, and my FC had a small in Goblet. I donated all my gil to the FC so I can try to relocate us to a large instead of trying for a bigger house myself. I had no plans to move at the time.


I spent days beforehand practicing, planning. I rehearsed my run from the ferryman to the aetheryte with my /busy /sprint macro. I was fully prepared but still shaking like a leaf at 1:55 AM PST. I planned to go to plot 28 in Lavender beds.

I logged in as soon as the clock struck the hour. Hit an 8 person queue, sat in panic for several seconds, then I got disconnected. OH THE HORROR! I quickly logged back in and didn't hit a queue this time. I remembered my rehearsal, hit my macro and decidedly clicked the aetheryte to the area I needed. I mounted and raced up to the plackard of the large house I had hand picked for my FC and relocated. Such a wave of relief washed over me.

I then realized there were far less people running around, and the medium/small houses were not being bought! I suddenly got the urge to move my small house to one of the nearby empty plots so I can live right by the FC. After 5 mins of standing in front of it debating, I ended up doing it. I loved Shirogane, but I never saw a soul there. It was really lonely, and worst of all was the ugliest chocobo house I've ever seen directly next to me.

I have no regrets. I'm so happy. My new neighbors are awesome, I've met several of them so far.
