Yeeeaaah, not.
I want a Doblyn mount named Tanaka.
Future mounts will require players to talk to 2 NPCS in Ul'dah. Also you will need to trade 5 moko grass to finish the quest.
Okay, we will get different mounts anyway. I want a Fat Chocobo.

Edit: Oh damn, sorry its from FF, okay I want a cookie monster then.
Your sig hurts my eyes because I don't understand what he is saying at all.
I want a (giant) Cactuar mount and I will call it Kohei
In other words:Quote:
While it's easy for veteran players to obtain, we also considered new players that would want to start playing because they can receive a goobbue

yep, it's a sad day.
While you're at it, you might try looking up these words:
- Pedestrian
- Hackneyed
- Insipid
And hey, when it comes to incentive, what's better than:
http://cache.jezebel.com/assets/imag...09/07/lord.jpg
please leave and take the old days with you.
SE makes me healthy, i look forward to the new days.
Define insipid

Lacking vigor or interest: "insipid, shallow books"

What's funny is those three words express your opinion... while incentive is fact. Curious, yes quite, yes... very.
...of this current 'mount giveaway' direction in ffxiv? Yes they do. And I'd add short-sighted to the list as well.Quote:

They are concepts I would like this game to avoid in general. Consider them a measuring stick when evaluating what incentives you should steer clear of when promoting this game.
But some people could care less I suppose.
You mean when promoting a game that has a lot of work and changes ahead of it and they could use extra money to fund?
"Come get an exclusive mount" VS. "Come play this game, but don't get used to it... it's going to completely change"
Now at 2.0 I'd hope (keyword hope) they use things like "Completely overhauled Battle System, Completely overhauled Map design, Completely Overhauled <insert everything here>, Brand New <end game content here>"
But right now... a free goobbue and trying to attract 'collectors' is what they are going for.
Your sight is short, imo.
I remember the old days. Everyone can do anything but no one knowing what they should do in a party. Hey let's rank up on coblyns from 1 to 50. Why does my Flare do the same damage as my Fire 2? Sure do like having to go into active stance as a mage. You like crafting, try making all these parts first! Ring a bell.
And FFXIV is a niche MMO right now. Goobues or not. I seriously doubt mounts will be the downfall of FFXIV.
To OP, does that mean we get to ride Puddings?
Goobbue (which to many peoples surprise is an FF creation) that can in fact walk around on it's own two legs or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-Wf-...eature=related .....yes i wonder which would be more ridiculous, then comes the clipping issues with the bocos head going through the floor.
Hardly
I have standards. I want this to be a FF MMO. Its the primary reason I (and many others) purchased the game.
Suppose the devs decided to add the following to ver 2.0:
- Open-World PvP
- Giant breasts (DD+) and stripper outfits
- Blood sprays
- Flying mounts (eg Griffons) instead of airships
- Unconventional FF player races - eg devi-lpeople, bears, Argonians, etc..
- Horse mounts
Would you find any of it non-thematic? Or would you just rubber-stamp it all because it sounds 'fun'?
I'm curious.
They should make a fat Chocobo as dat File so I can exchange my Goobbue xD. I really like the game but I dont want to see it turning into a dumb toon game. Thats the only thing I am worried about.
Okay, okay. I was on board with you for most of this debate, up til here. While I don't like the general direction FFXIV has taken (goobbue mounts, moogle weapons) because there's not a lot of substantial or story-centric content, many of the things you just mentioned do have precedents in FF and wouldn't break the game.
Dragon hybrid?
Gria - http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Gria
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__...aGeomancer.jpg
Big breasts and skimpy outfits?
Viera - http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Viera
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__...andomViera.jpg
Fairies - http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/F...l_Fantasy_III)
And you really can't make a point about "Open World PvP" because only one other game from the FF series was MMO. For many of the series' games, you were definitely pitted against many more humanoids than in FFXI.
That said, I absolutely DO NOT want flying mounts, besides airships, and would prefer no blood splatter.
EDIT: In the Viera pic.. is it just me, or is that Bangaa checking out her "big breasts?" o.0
@Mychael
Gria are humanoid with some dragon trimmings.. I was referring to something akin to Argonians from Skyrim
Again, referring to Double D's. Viera don't even come close.
Also, who said anything about faeries?
I'll edit my post to clear it up.
Thanks--but I was just pointing out that while I think Yoshi did mention something dragon-related when talking about new races, it will probably look more Gria-like than Argonian. I also doubt that SE would ever add breasts larger than some of the Viera. I could have probably found bigger within the series, but I don't think a Japanese-made RPG will ever have anything quite so large as a Double-D. And I used fairies as another example of scantily clad characters early in the series.
EDIT: Even going with the Argonian-like theory, there are Bangaa, Hypello, Garif, and many other less-scaly anthropomorphic creatures that could probably make Argonians seem normal in XIV.
However, I don't know how they'd work into the storyline at this point, until an expansion pack. And then you have the same "WE DON'T WANT TO RE-ROLL!" issue that came up from Male Miqo'te/Female Roegadyn. So really, I don't think they're something to worry about.
I got what you are all saying... Fairies... big breast... I'll lay this one on the dev's desk first thing in the morning.
This a question that no one here has really answered "why in a new FF games is SE only allowed to put in things from old FF games?"
