So, new homeowners...

Are going to be pigeonholed into small homes? That is what it seems like SE is trying to do now by not only giving FC's first dibs (rightfully so), but allowing private individuals to upgrade/relocate (????).
What is now going to happen to those of us that have been saving for a medium/large for years and STILL cannot get one because SE seems to be incompetent when it comes to their housing feature?

Well, answer is there: just have to deal with a small plot until they decide to ever open more wards up if not lucky to snag a M/L plot. It initially sucks but I'd have prefer, along with the new restriction, that FCs are allowed small plots at first then upgrade later if they wanted. Who knows that might have made it difficult for personal housing to be anything but small homes - but no matter how we look at it the housing system/rules bite.

The only upshoot is that once (if...) you have a small house, you can freely relocate into medium and/or large houses should they become vacant or if they add additional wards in the future. You can also pay someone in possession of a medium/large to relinquish their land and immediately relocate into it.

But yeah, as soon as we started getting translations of the live letter - which was more than a week in advance of the housing website's low-key release - it was clear how things would shake out for people not already in the housing system.

Before I got my medium I spent almost a year in a small so stop complaining and pay your dues hehe. For first time buyers a small is better than nothing and gets you a "foot in the door" so to speak to be able to relocate later.

I understand your statement, but I have every right to voice my disdain for the system as I pay to play the same game as you. I am sorry if my "complaining" is offensive to you, you don't have to listen to them or even respond to them if you truly feel bothered by them.

Plot 20 in the Goblet is pretty awesome honestly, right next to the waterfall and post-4.1 right in front of the swimming hole. Had my FC there for about two years.

The texture on the grass during rain throughout the entirety of the Goblet is unbelievably bad, though!

Your complaints fall on deaf ears because SE won't fix the housing system as it should be. I hate it also, it's the worst in MMOland but, it is what it is unfortunately and no amount of feedback will totally fix their system.

Weren't people just complaining that they just wanted any house at all but couldn't get one? Yes, larges on large servers will go quickly as well as Shirogane larges on all servers. However, many FCs now have a huge chance to finally get a workshop, airships, submarines, crafting stations for members, a private place to interact, and chambers.

Would be a good idea for SE to do a survey for people waiting to buy their first home still to get a number on how many new houses they need and what locations/sizes people are looking for.

^ Totally agree here. I was a first time buyer when Shirogane first came out. I aimed for a medium, but had to settle for a small. But I was happy to just get a house in the first place. Now I managed to relocate to a medium :)

My first personal place was a cottage also. I was thrilled about it. I was excited about decorating, gardening, and having a private space to craft.

I buy house 2 years.. and i don't have any house. Now I waiting to buy small and i can't.. so how long i must waiting for the house? ... I take holiday today in work to buy this.. LOL for Yoshida -.-

Hopefully not a week like some say, with devaluing and a crap ton of small houses sprinkled in each district, just doesn't seem wise and it's unfair to make individuals wait so dam long for the embargo to be lifted

I picked up the medium there just because of the view and pool. The larges were available but were not in as good a spot. The Brimming Heart is very attractive.

exactly.. some people take off day to buy this and now what? .. i stay 2 h on serwer and nobody buy small house.. FC move to large and medium .. mayby Yoshida must think to open now ..

I am happy for the FC's for finally getting their homes. My frustration isn't at all directed toward that. I find it silly that they so many had to go without accessing content for so long due to SE making the decision to lock said content behind home ownership.
My frustration is for how things are shaping out to be for the new homeowners, especially those that have been for years waiting and still will not be able to obtain what they want due to the system being grossly flawed.

I hope they don't choose to open them later on today, I will be at work. I also hope we get ample notice so I can plan accordingly to even stand a chance at getting a small plot let alone getting SUPER lucky and finding a medium out there.

What are you complaining about? Half mediums and larges are owned by personal house owners. People are free to relocate to a bigger house from a small plot like today? Whenever the personal houses are open for all gotta swoop in like all the people who yet don't have a house.

Honestly, no matter what SE does, there will always be someone complaining about the housing situation until the day that SE is somehow able to create the magic system that magically gives everyone whatever it is that they want without conditions, complications, or limitations. Even in the case that one person's desire for how the system should work comes into conflict with the desires of how another person thinks it should work, the housing system should just magically resolve such conflict, no matter how irreconcilable the two may be.

Of course, such a system is impossible to create (The Universe, Itself, couldn’t do it, what makes anyone think limited beings such as us human can do it?). It would be nice had SE started with a system much like the current one, but I think they may have underestimated the zealotry of gamers (something many video game developers tend to do) to grind gil and purchase housing. Unfortunately, they did not start that way, and now they are trying to migrate everyone to a more "fair" system that enforces needed constraints. It would be nice if there were infinite resources to create something that at least partially resembles the magic system described above. Unfortunately, reality intrudes even into the fantasy-scape of a video game to render such an ideal an impossibility, and we are just forced to deal with the reality that not everyone can get everything that they want.

The only truly fair thing would be for no one to have anything at all, and people would still complain.

The issue as it has been repeated , at least the irkful part here is that houseless players are restricted to buy but individuals houses that already existed can move & improve, thats not fair , or at least i fail to see how it is, while sure its nice for a lot of players that got pleased, it still leave a bad feeling for others (& no i dont think that because you had a small first you get more rights on further purchase) i dont quite think thats how it should go

I’m sorry you took time off work just to be disappointed, but honestly that’s on you. It was common knowledge that housing is restricted to FCs only until further notice.

I upgraded our cottage to a medium now we got one extra gardening plot XD

We got the mansion overlooking the Brimming Heart. Basically my second choice if we couldn't get Shiro, which of course we couldn't. Goblet was so dead I was the first to buy a house in our ward and that was about 15 minutes after servers went up lol

Personally I think that purchasing should have been FC only and that private relocations should have gone on at the same time as new purchases. It really isn't fair for new people to not have the same opportunity as those with homes already.

There is a ton mediums and smalls still up on my server is every area except Shiro
