Just saw an open medium plot go to a personal house owner. So if people who already own personal houses can just upgrade to larges or mediums, how is that supposed to be helpful to FCs? I thought the restrictions were so FCs could get first picks?

The only thing the FC only is for, is for new houses. Not relocations. Everyone can relocate/upgrade/ect. (ie: FCs atm can buy houses, Personals cannot, but everyone can locate to a new plot if they already have a house.)
I am aware of that policy. I was simply pointing out that personal house owners who've been saving up forever for a large house could get them before an FC can get there, effectively blocking FCs from getting the size house they want.
Now, I don't think the restriction is fair, because I want a personal house too. But if the point was to give FCs first choice, how is personal relocation fair to the FCs.
I guess I'm just annoyed and venting. Don't mind me :)
It's not fair and this system is still incomplete, but this is what they had time to implement before 4.2 hit. I expect they'll progress the rules further to include relocation restrictions next time, but for now this is what we get to deal with.
Well there isn't any less houses open because they relocated so I don't see an issue. I'm not gunna pass judgement on this new system until after it's fully implemented with the new wards tomorrow.
An FC can still use FC amenities in a smaller house. The idea was to get FCs into houses. They never made any promises on sizes. This is what they had time and ability to put into place.
and in the last patch the majority of shirogane went to personal users anyway. not much of an advantage when you have to compete with relocates sigh.
I dont get it.
relocation (personal/FC) > purchase (FC) > dirt > two cockroaches > excrement of previous > purchase (individual).
So the solution is to REWARD existing personal owners with equal opportunity as FC's - who should have priority over anyone else according to SE - and to prevent the biggest source of the outcry of not enough housing from even entering the market? Sweet jesus, at least everyone had a shot in shirogane release.
Lets make things "fair and square" by not allowing 80% of our players to even get a chance in the market, while accommodating those that are already owners. Wtf logic is this?
Not trying to interject an opinion one way or another, but allowing relocation does literally nothing to the quantity of houses available on the market. If there are 50 houses currently available and player A upgrades their personal cottage in goblet to a mansion in shirogane, there's still 50 houses available, they haven't taken anything away. In terms of wanting FCs to grab houses, the point is to be able to allow them to access that additional content (workshop/ship missions), the size of the house doesn't restrict that content.
Now to digress off my point, yeah that means relocaters can try and snatch really good plots an FC might have wanted, but it's not taking an actual house away, it's just taking a "really nice" house away in exchange for a smaller one. Take from that what you will!
It's a broken and unfair system. I see their logic locking it to FC only atm due to gated content but they could easily made that content instanced outside of housing.
but if a FC is sized with membership, having more than 1 garden plot helps the FC... :0
plus a limit on workstations sucks too
So, about half of the new large plots in the Mist on my server went to individuals relocating. Didn't check for other areas, but assume that the other districts are having similar results. So much for FCs getting the size they needed to have gatherings in the house...
I upgraded to a large home, but when I logged a couple of minutes ago literally the only plots purchased in my Ward were the three larges. Every single other plot was open.
I know a medium house cant have all the stations out. Can the large have them all out?
Also with regards to plot sizes i think only FCs should be allowed to purchase the largest plot. An FC can house loads of players so the space is needed to do things with your FC community. For people saying at least they can get a small house whilst the individual players upgrade from a small to large is unfair on the FC. You can't cram 50 people into a small house (my FC inst overly huge but we do like to hang out in the FC house together as I am sure other FCs would like to as well). I think the design of the wards needed to accommodate more larger plots, or maybe create new wards of FC only where they are all medium or large.
I logged in and literally had my pick of the entire ward. Even plot 11/41 in Lavender Beds was open. Although that one eventually went, an hour later and half the mediums were still available. There are plenty of houses despite the relocation. Friend and I also checked each housing distinct afterwards and virtually all went to FCs. So despite an overall terrible system, I can't say this didn't work out okay given the circumstances.
The housing restriction is not to give FCs priority over private owners in terms of which house you get, its there so FCs can buy a house without competing against NEW private home purchases. It is not there to make sure FCs get the house they want, just that there are enough houses total to go to FCs.
Private owners with pre-existing houses have a chance to move, that doesn't reduce the number of plots available to FCs, it just changes where they are. Nothing in this patch promised an FC that it would get the house they want, just that there would be no new competition for the total number of plots.
The problem is still on SE with very bad timing opening NA housing plots in the middle of the night 1 AM? right after a maintenance.... Perhaps wait till 5 pm the following day after the servers come back up to make the houses available? At least it was not a personal house grab that was over in 5 minutes like last time.
I mean there were mediums still available after 3 hours the maintance was done, what's the problem? Obviously atm there isn't enough FCs to come and take all the medium lands anyway. If FC's is quick they might have grabbed a large house, I see a lot of larges owned by FC's and personal owners. Our fc has a medium and we didn't even think to go for a large. Not everyone want that.
Depends on location. All larges are gone everywhere on my server, but only weeb city is almost full. Goblet and Lav Beds have almost entire wards open, minus the larges, available.
Agreed, leviathan is getting packed, ive seen 4 mediums popped in my face.
PS: A moratorium has been placed upon all plot sales to indivuduals.
When did they remove that? There used to be a limit on how many work stations you could have based on house size. Large could have all, medium could have like 3 or 4, small could have like 1 (maybe 2).
correction - nekohime is correct. I looked up limits and it's 2 for private room, 4 for cottage (small house), 6 for house (medium), and 8 for mansion (large house).
I think there's been some confusion here between workshops and workstations. Workshops are where you build airships, workstations give you a little bit of extra CP when your crafters aren't at 70 yet. Workshops are the same for all house sizes. Workstations are limited to 2 (private room), 4 (small), 6 (medium), and 8 (large). Players can access all 8 workstations from a medium FC house if 6 are in the house and the other 2 in their private rooms. Workshops are considered much more important for FCs because of the content locked behind them, while workstations are by no means required for leveling crafts and are completely useless for anyone who doesn't craft or has already leveled them.
There are still open mediums on my server in the non-Shirogane wards. I didn't expect that so didn't save for it, but I did switch from Shiro small to Goblet small since I found a much nicer view. Plot 14 in Goblet. Right next to the waterfall, swimming pool, has it's own moat as well. Ka-ching!
Shirogane, Mist and Lavender Beds are like most popular housing areas. I wouldn't be surprised about them being taken right away.
As for Goblet, we all know there are sand haters like Anakin Skywalker.
When I got home from work yesterday, only four of the plots in my ward were purchased. Most purchased in any new Ward in the Mist was 12.
After reading the numerous posts in the forums I am thinking that their real issue is not that gardens and stations are more limited, but rather the size and/or plot location status. It appears the new, first time buyers are most interested in the latter except for the bigger FCs or individuals that enjoy cross breeding. Another percentage of the playerbase like myself, looks for not only planting capabilities but also as a deco-freak, the ability to get creative in a medium+. As the solo house owner of a medium (was in a small for a year), I utilize both plots available and all the deco spaces alloted. I do share this house with family/friends and also belong to a small FC that just relocated to a medium after a year in a small. I am an omni-max crafter and gatherer and am capable of gathering mats to build and send out a sub. Unfortunately, I cannot and have to depend on the FC for this "IF" we can get 3 others on to assist the send. Perhaps upgrading housing with more garden capabilities and workshops might make people happy, perhaps not but it's a start. I know I get cranky when I want to cross breed and someone has the 2nd plot constantly growing Krakka. A 2-story loft type house instead of the single story on existing small plots would help with the space/deco freaks also.
