I'm very upset and confused. Wasn't their reasoning for adding housing a week later so that people would not be stuck in bottleneck again? So that we may actually have a chance at buying this time? If so why add a Maint beforehand? That defeats the purpose.
For us Americans trying to get housing it's annoying enough to have to be up at 2am. I had a glimmer of hope I was going to be able to relocate and upgrade my FC house. Now I'm not even sure I want to try. When you added shirogane I was all set. Money in hand I had been practicing getting to the house I wanted as fast as I could only to be stuck in a 30 min long que. there was nothing left when I got in. Please, don't do this to us again. Add housing later if you have to. Super fed up with this.

The maintenance is to add housing. As far as I know they can't just flip a switch and enable it like they do holiday events. They have to take the servers offline for maintenance to do so.

Hopefully the hotfix being applied won't have a download or even something small might cause another hiccup.Quote:

I got the impression they wouldn't be opening the housing antil an hour after the maintenance ends. That will stop those getting stuck in the login queue with 1000+ people ahead of them and everything being gone while they spent 30 mins in the queue. No doubt it will also still disappear fast, but at least the login queue won't be a factor (and not everyone logging in is interested in a house, plenty are stuck waiting 20-30 mins to log in right after every patch is released, housing or not).

They really need to do something with that login queue though, the great majority of people complaining about the last release was they were just stuck waiting in the queue. They really do need to allow ample time to log in before releasing the plots. -

This doesn't hold much hope for an hour later deal. Either way, I guess I'll deal with the stress of the queue regardless and if it happens an hour later then well I'll be at least be ready.

Do you guys really think the queue will be that bad even when people without a home can't buy one this time around? The new restrictions has cut more than half of server's population down by only allowing relocation or FC purchases.
Granted I am sure some people are going to still try just to see if they could do a loop hole and get a personal home -

In response to the why a week later, the bottlenecking was a joke when 4.2 released followed by emergency maintainance. This was just for new content and the raid. It would have been 100 times worse had housing also been unlocked at the same time and impacted other people not interested in housing.
Regardless had it launched at 4.2 you would have still had exactly the same issue. Maintaince always happens before they add and it always ends around the same time. They operate off of Jpn working hours and NA drew the
Short straw due to time zones. Nothing more to it than that.
And as for the 1 hour thing. Seems like an oversight that it is not on the lodestone, but it's was directly from Yoshi himself in the Live letter. I watched it. Go back and watch it yourself if you need the proof. -

the only thing i'm worried about is camping. i'm assuming the newer wards will be available for access as soon as maintenance concludes, giving people the ability to run to their desired house and wait until it becomes available for purchase. idk how i feel about having 20 people standing around a placard lol but for relocating i'm curious if the former rule still applies meaning no restriction or again, you have to wait an hour for all houses to be purchaseable/relocation worthy. i'm thinking the latter...

I'd hope they'd have learned from the log-in server crashing with every previous housing release that opening up the new wards immediately just makes getting a house even more of a crapshoot then then it already is, since you're having to contend with connection issues on top of actually getting to a desired house before someone else.
I'll be much less annoyed about missing a house upgrade this time around if I can actually log in before everything is gone this time around. -

You're not competing with every other player trying to get in for every other bit of new content. You'll still have players just generally wanting in to play (or wanting to be first on reset day or whatever). But the fight to stay logged in should be considerably lessened, in theory.
