What happened to the sky?

Hello, adventurers.

I would like to ask if any of you can look at the sky (not foggy, you need to see the clouds moving) in Eorzea, move the camera for a while and see if it's any different than usual.

Have you ever noticed that glitch where the clouds in the sky kinda... stop, and when you rotate the camera it creates a bad effect, like if the sky and the clouds move “as a whole”? Like in the beach with the 2 boats north of Camp Bald Knoll: that is one of the spots where, every now and then, the sky messes up like that.

Oh my... I never reported this bug for this reason: There's no way I can explain it with words. Either you've already seen it at least once or I've to make a video of it. Since I thought it would be fixed by 2.0 and that it's not so common, I never bothered, but now it seems to be everywhere, including the city-states. It can't be just a huge coincidence that I'm experiencing this in every area after patch 1.20b...

I took this screen and, although the bug can't be seen (since it's a screenshot and to see the glitch the camera needs to be rotated), you can see that darker spot/blur on the right. That was visible alongside the “sky glitch”, and obviously it shouldn't be there.

I tried to re-log 3 times, but nothing changed. Tonight, after 3 hours the sky returned back to its usual beauty. But now that I returned to Eorzea, I noticed the problem is still there, clearly visible in the sky of Ul'dah.
I also asked another adventuress and she noticed it, too. At the same time, other adventurers didn't, so I'm lost.

Is anyone else experience this?

I'm opening the Topic here since in the Bugs section I wouldn't receive any other adventurers' experience, and I don't really feel like making a video of it, if possible, so if others know already what I'm talking about and are experiencing it, it'd better and hopefully we'll have an hotfix of it soon enough.
If no one is experiencing it, I'll make the video and post it in the Bugs section... EDIT: Video done.

First, there're clips of the “original” issue, and later, at 01.06, how I see the sky of Eorzea since tonight, everywhere.
Also, it's visible that other glitch of the picture above, of the blur/shadow on the right of the screen while I'm running on top of my Goobbue.

Now that the issue is evident, a rep response on this, and when it might get fixed, would be much appreciated. Even if for many it might not be a relevant problem, the landscape for me is of the utmost importance.

Please fix this or at least give an update, as not everybody seems to be experiencing it.

I noticed that last night for the first time, too. Lol.

Happens in more then just sky, it seems to be shadows/lighting on the modeling that sometimes don't remain in synch which is why it happens when your moving the camera more then just staring at something.

Thanks Nikita, but are you experiencing the problem now, too, or was it only temporary?

That report is from last August, but the bug is still not addressed in certain areas (like the one in Bald Knoll I mentioned above), creating effects like this:

However, the glitch I'm talking about is slightly different: now the sky is not “replaced” by another sky when I turn the camera, but it just moves as a whole. In short: nothing good.

What I'm interested to know is how many adventurers are experiencing this issue everywhere after patch 1.20b (that is, now) and like me have no way to solve it.

Staring at the beauty of Eorzea's sky is one of the things I've always enjoyed the most, and I dedicated many journal entries to my main massion, that is Exploration. For this reason, I researched over my 700+ recorded videos (that was one of the reasons why I didn't feel like doing a video...), and I made a new one about the issue.
It's really too bad I had to do this, as it's not a positive video and surely not a good thing to see as many might tell “And they're paying for this?”. I'm sorry for that, but I just want to enjoy my time in Eorzea, something not possible with this glitch.

For me, its new, never seen it before tonight when I went to go get my goobbue.

This has actually happened to me several times before 1.20b, though it's never been permanent. I doubt I would have ever noticed out in an open world, but I've noticed it once in Ul'dah and several times in Limsa Lominsa--the light in the sky at night makes it stick out sorely.

Yes, I said that myself too, it's a known glitch, but it never happened semi-permanently like this. I said semi because tonight (at 02.30 AM...) the glitch disappeared and I could finally take a walk on my Goobbue in La Noscea.

...However, now that I returned to Eorzea (14.00 PM), not only the sky/clouds glitch is there, but it's also back that bad blur/shadow on the right of the screen, that can be seen here straight below the mini-map.

Really, what's going on? I can't enjoy a dawn, sunset or any type of gathering/exploration in Eorzea with the landscape messed up like this.

I think the video above clearly explains the problem, that like I said never happened in such a semi-permanent way before patch 1.20b. Can the staff give me some help here? It's the third day that I'm experiencing this...

I was having this issue with my old graphics card. I ended up getting a new one when the old one burnt out and it fixed itself. The game engine just doesn't like certain graphics cards and drivers, its as simple as that.

The problem is not the game... it's you're convinced you can see something wrong with how the sky looks. It's an illusion. You say the clouds stop when you move the camera. Moving the camera is the same as moving the entire rendered world. You could say the camera could is still and it's everything else that is moving. The reason why it looks odd is cuz you normally see the world with two eyes which allow you to perceive depth. The clouds though are so far away that if stared at, they will appear to do strange things and make strange shapes. Go outside and stair up at the real sky for 30 minutes. I think that would solve the problem.

Either she didn't read/watched the video or she made a joke, in which case made me smile a little. :) It would have made my day, though, if it was a community rep/moderator official response:

To solve the issue, please go outside and stare at the real sky for 30 minutes. If it looks normal when you rotate your head, go back to Eorzea and the problem should be fixed there, too.”

The irony, I still have the issue (more visible in the video than in the pics, blur aside), but I've discovered a temporary “solution”: I've to logout multiple times and log back in again. This way, it seems to randomly have the effect disappear. I say “solution” because the last time I had to log back and forth a good 15 minutes until it fixed itself; then 2 hours later I logged out and briefly back in, and there it was the glitch again.
This can't be a solution... It happened after patch 1.20b, and since I use this PC only for Final Fantasy XIV, it's been months since I changed or updated anything. I did update my graphic card and made other routine tests in the past 2 days, after the issue appeared, but not before, so I can't possibly have a clue on what happened, as it's not on my side (PC), or why only a very limited number of adventurers (I've found only another one on my World) is having the issue after patch 1.20b.

And to answer Req... Changing my graphic card is not a solution, either... Also, I already have the recommended GTX 460, and it can't possibly have gone nuts coincidentally after patch 1.20b, while 3 hours earlier everything was fine... Other games I tried yesterday gave me no problems, anyway.


Hopefully the staff members here will give me a response with the start of this new week...
