Equalibrium Test/Verification

I 'think' Equal is force crit during zerk now even though its not an 'attack'. Can anyone confirm/deny?

Checking if anyone has noticed or knows. I was a little sad when Zerk/IR changed to 'Attacks crit/DH' because I assumed equilibrium wouldn't get boosted by zerk anymore as it cant direct hit and isn't even an 'attack'.

However, I have noticed it critting during IR (not !!), but I didn't watch it like a hawk so I cant be sure if its 100% critting (was busy trying to freestyle learn byakko EX without any guides last night lol).

Unrelated: Byakko's axe is one of the coolest looking axes in a while. Though I also would have accepted the terribad model from XI just for nostalgia.

Equilibrium definitely crit, not direct hit under Internal Release when I tried it. 17k heal at item level 320.

...And again, crit. I don't think I'm just getting lucky.

Equilibrium 100% Crits during IR, 21K HP at ilvl340.
WAR self heal during IR is ridiculous with IB/Cyclone + Eq.

Good to know. It seemed pretty likely. You used to be able to get 30% boost on equal every time (if desired) via old zerk. New zerk only allows ~50% increase to 1 out of 3 equals that could have crit naturally anyway so not surprising they let it keep its zerk synergy.

I also have tried a few equilibrium's. All crits despite not being a guage spender anyway. 10 attempts 21.5K average at iLvL 349.

It makes sense that it doesn't (!!) as you cannot direct hit a heal.

Yes, Equilibrium will force-crit when under IR. It's a nice little bonus I don't think anyone was expecting, and it adds a bit of decision-making to IR, since a ~21k heal at ilvl 343 is nothing to sneeze at, especially on top of IB/IR or SC/IR spam healing.

While Drks are in the back burning cause they can't self heal like WAR and PLD. RIP drks.

Do you know how Equilibrium has worked since it was added? HW Equilibrium was buffed 50% by Berserk and was still able to crit on top of that. 4.0 Equilibrium was buffed 30% by Berserk and was still able to crit on top of that. 4.2 Equilibrium gets a guaranteed crit (so +50%) with no chance to be increased. How is 4.2 Equilibrium ridiculous compared to previous patches?

No longer requires RNG to crit. Also yes I knew how it worked. Doesn't mean I can't be salty about it. If anything it's more incentive to drop DRK forever and go to WAR.

For me the idea that it crits and maintains its old berserk synergy is a nice thing. I’m more astounded that the dev team made an effort to preserve this defensive synergy on an offensive skill while simultaneously ignoring QoL issues and other kit issues on dark knight. But this is not a dark knight post so I’ll hold my further thoughts.

To be honest, comparing Clemency and Equilibrium to Souleater has always been painful, so this is not a new complaint coming from Dark Knights either.

The self heal gap just got bigger is all. Issue with DRK self healing is unlike PLD/WAR, DRK really doesn't have their heals on demand like the other 2. SoSu is contingent on an add dying, Abyssal has a hefty cost for so little returns and Souleater requires Grit and 3 GCD's to pull off.

With PLD/WAR your gate to entry is much lower.

The salt sheesh. This is a downgrade for equilibrium. Not a buff. It used to be a 50% buff under zerk AND maintained crit rate chance 1/3 times. Then it became a 30% buff every time while maintaining crit RNG 1/1 times. Now its a ~50% buff with NO chance to crit 1/3 times. This is literally the weakest zerk synergy it has ever had.

I get that drk isn't in a great spot but can we not take over every thread on the forums with QQ about it, and if you do, then at least say things that make sense. Equal just got a ~10% nerf with this zerk version ignoring the chance for old version to crit. Every change isn't a slap to the face of drk and every thread doesn't need to pretend that it is.
