Did the housing moratorium have to have THIS week?

Ya know, as opposed when the new housing is actually put in?

Just kinda curious on that.

Why not this week?

To make sure your players get the memo quickly since some people don't read patch notes outside of, "MO' HOUSE"

But nothing really being added this week apart from resuming the demo timer. If they added new wards this week i guess i could relate a little bit.

However imo it really on people if they are lazy and not reading the patch notes.

Housing still exists though. Or did I miss an update where a house can't be purchased in the 12 wards if it's not taken?

The update today means that no one can buy individual housing at all until the moratorium is lifted in what will most likely be two weeks. Housing transfer can still take place, but not purchasing.

FCs can buy houses though. Just not people.

That's wishful thinking. I think it will be much longer, when no housing is no longer available.

The new wards are scheduled to be added one week after the release of patch 4.2. A separate announcement will be made when the date has been finalized.

Here is ur answer if u dont notice this in the patch notes! ;) New Wards will be added next week! stay tuned

I highly doubt it as long as they're looking at strictly FCs buying houses. Also gave it two weeks because that's around the time I'd start expecting the revolts and rolling heads.

Real wishful thinking though would be looking at a server-by-server case and lifting the moratorium maybe a day after they see no sales happening anymore.

Already read it when they first stated it. New wards next week, individual moratorium lifted most likely the week after.

I keep reading that we will be able to relocate but you got a source for it? I'm finding it a bit hard to believe that people will be able to locate their houses while not allowing those without houses to buy one (unless you are an FC ofc).

It's all in patch notes, and an extra notice when you enter a housing ward. Relocation still works.

A 1 week restriction on personal housing after wards are added is rather optimistic. Doesn't really even give them enough time to comb through the data to see what worked.

I think it's ok to have the stuff visible and notices placed in advance. Removes the excuse of "waaa! I didn't know!" gives people the time to digest that BS, and turn it into "waaa! I forgot!" which is automatically their fault since the notices were placed well in advance.

Houses already started popping up on Ultros I think I saw three open up before the server death.

On my server the new wards were blanked out, you couldn't even access them (Or see anything in the list when you clicked the number). :S I'm quite confused now. Will have to have another look when maint is over. I was highly under the impression that you wouldn't be able to relocate or anything until next Tuesday. Perhaps I have misunderstood.

I just saw one small land demolished here in Exodus where I live, tryed purchase, but it says "a moratorium has been placed upon all plot sales to indivuduals" and a timer counting.

can someone explain what it mean?

Relocation is a separate system. While it may seem janky, we aren't losing plots by keeping it available, so it's not harming anything by leaving it open.

That, in turn, opens up cheaper plots so that even smaller FCs and non-rich players can have a better chance of gaining a house at all.

Just to clarify, the time is nothing to do with when the plot is available for purchase, it's the time left until the price decreases (and then it starts a new timer until the next price drop etc).

As for why houses are suddenly opening up, there are two possible reasons: 1. Since the timer resumed, houses that were scheduled to be demolished but got a reprieve due to the hurricanes in the US stopping the housing timer are now going poof and 2. People who were hoarding houses for resale are giving up since they can't hold the investment hostage for 200 million gil any more.

Likely it's a combination of the two, because if a house is relinquished from the timer, the owner gets some money back, iirc. So the hoarders, who previously walked into the houses with their alts to keep the timer going, now have no reason to do so at all. (Also I wouldn't be surprised if some of the hoarders rage quit the game since SE killed the housing private sale market.)

Yeah.

Focusing on upgrading the size of apartments would have been a better investment, I feel. That'd benefit both house owners and those who do not own a house.

If I recall, SE wants to fix the exploiting issues with plots first, but they are at least aware apartments not being good enough is part of the problem. FC's deserve access to FC/group focussed content that the houses provide first and foremost.

If I could just add a second room and have my apartment treated like a "small" house, tenants and all, and for SE to offer pots that allow multiple plants for crossbreeding, I'd be set.

They literally had to implement the restrictions at the same time that they announced the restrictions for FC only at the start.
Or people would have taken advantage of that knowledge before the restrictions were in place.

On Tuesday on my server, I saw multiple houses pop up, including a beachfront Shirogane house and a beachfront Mist house. I got the beachfront Mist house :cool:

They could do that just with the sale delay timer without having to ban players from the ability to buy houses, so still doesn't answer my question.

I believe the timer is somewhat randomized, as at no point did SE mention the timeframe of relinquished plots opening for purchase.

All they've mentioned is when the new wards come out (Tuesday). From that, it's pretty much speculation from there, but the best bet is still individuals waiting about another week. Would actually be pretty nice if they were able to isolate releases by servers and areas, but I'd be amazed if devs possessed such an ability.

Is it me, or there are people using workarounds to buy houses, which in turns would cause less available house for most individuals?
It seems some people were creating new FCs in order to buy available houses,
there have been lots of recently created FCs with 4-5 members camping and buying houses.

I've seen tons honestly and it just makes me scratch my head and frown. SE's attempt to 'fix' their broken system just seems to cause more issues.

Agreed, when they explained the rules, that's where they messed up.

At most a FC house should only be purchased by at least 4 members ALL of which don't have a FC house.

As it stands now the current rules are just begging to be exploited. It's ok, just kick me out of the FC and have 3 alts join my new FC and I can buy another house. That's what a majority of players are doing now, because only 1 person needs to sacrifice their access to their origin FC housing to buy a house for themselves under the guise of a FC.

I really hope the houses don't go live immediately after maintenance, otherwise that's going to be another mad scramble and disgusting mess.

They are, and it's made worse by the fact they stated the finish time for maint is subject to change, so they aren't even making it end dead on time this time around.

I thought SE wanted to avoid the mad rush of log ins since this was something people complained about before about not having a chance at a house. Aren't the housing wards going up 1 hour after the servers go live?

That was from an unofficial translation, there's no official translation where SE has announced the houses being available an hour beforehand so prepare for the login bloodbath just in case.
