I'm at work now and can't check. How does the expanded view looks now? :( Could anyone show a screenie?
This is bothersome, I've been using that for a while now and it was very comfy with it. I'll likely get used to the changes but, it sounds like one of those minor things that will just bug me a lot at first.

here ya go MuseTraveller. I have my retainer open, but it'll help you get the idea, as it's the same with the reatiner open or closed.
What is the problem? Looks fine to me.
On expanded inventory view, we used to see 100 slots (4x25), now we only see 70 (2x35). So we're seeing less than before with the expanded inventory.
EDIT: Let me add, before we got the 40 new inventory slots in SB, that meant we could see ALL our personal inventory in one go. The tabs were for "Inventory", and "Key items and crystals" only. Really helped me get a birds-eye view of my inventory at all times.
Thank you both! Yeah that feels a little strange. I guess it will take some time getting used to. :/
I think cause it looks more symmetrical now? But like stated before, you have overview of less items and that's annoying. I enjoyed my bird view too pre SB but was happy with the added slots. I usually had something unimportant on the 2nd page that rarely needed viewing.
Glamour plates are dumb and half baked.
My inventory looks like garbage.
I need to completely relearn how to play my harp since my old system is no longer compatible unless there's some way to rebind the performance actions to my numpad again (I can't get it to let me)
Oh, and there's a line to get into Kefka.
This new patch is dumb.
My favorite part is the 105 Key Item slots we have now.
Forget the expanded inventory, try inventory management first i mean WOW.
Does it not allow for it when you open the Performance UI and click on the settings? I saw I could change keybinds there, but didn't try changing anything, so couldn't say if numpad is restricted for some reason.
While this is a bit awkward, and yeah, obviously took some time to rearrange things, I'll be mildly optimistic and hope that maybe this is a precursor to more inventory. Although... probably unlikely, since this seems mostly aimed at the symmetry issue. More would just throw that out of balance again...
I really don't care for forced changes like this. It's always better to give your players an option when doing something to the UI like this. I'd much more prefer a toggle option to keep the old look. Everything just feels out of place now.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of this. If the expanded was the new 'Normal' i.e. 2 tabs shown instead of 1, I'd have been ok with it, but expanded only being 2 tabs now is rather awkward. I'm sure I can live with it, but I do wonder why they decided to dedicate dev-time to this when nobody (judging from this forum) had any issue with things the way they were.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Probably to accommodate the chocobag since it's 2 full tabs under the new regime. In hindsight, us getting the weird number of 140 inventory slots despite one of them being only half a tab was all leading up to this moment. Feels like arbitrary numbers tho which makes me wonder what came first, the numbers that brought about the design, or the design that brought the numbers....
I'd like the option to have my old expanded view back please and thank you.
I believe the original intention was to provide even more base inventory after stormblood's launch...
But, that didn't work out tech wise iirc.
Thus, they must have decided to 'clean up' the ui...
I can't help but feel it's some form of ocd with each page not having the same amount of entries...
If you somehow needed to change this (why though?) then why not just three options? The old ones and a new one that would look like the new expanded inventory?
Honestly why change it and not give people the option to still have it the old way?
SE really likes to change some things to the worse or introduce something as way too complicated..
Helluuuuuuu
Yep, I was not impressed with this new view. I don't like having to tab through the inventory. Fill up half my screen if necessary.
Does anyone, EVER, even need that many? I mean, I have the Yokai handbook, the Aether compass, some hunt bills I've been too lazy to finish, WT book, a treasure map, the list for the 3.0 relic item exchange, and then whatever I needed for beast tribes(Ixal mostly), and that didn't even take up 75% of the key item slots.
If we look at the Glamour system as a whole, the weird change in inventory view that no one asked for, the unskippable 45minute cut scenes, the weird unbalanced tank situation, the band aid "fixes" on monk that STILL haven't changed any rotation since 2.0...
This patch worries me. It's like they're losing touch completely. Patches used to be full of really good QoL.
It's been said before but I think they really need to get a player based test group. I don't think the devs are as connected as they once were.
Edit: If you put any items in the glamour wardrobe, can you use those items for the fashion check at the Gold Saucer? Because if you can't take them out then....maybe you can't?
As person who had over 100 items in personal inventory (and thus whose inventory flowed to another tab even in Expanded mode), I feel no difference. Only people who had 100 items in inventory or less would notice it.
So...That's what you get for not hoarding :P
I don't like either. It looks horrible in my option. I don't mind seeing less items but the whole box itself just looks bad.
Wow. This is objectively worse in every way. The expanded inventory shows less... They merged bags not giving a care to how everyone had items previously sorted. Thanks for screwing that up by the way. THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OLD EXPANDED VIEW. Is this SE's subtle way of saying piss off we are not expanding the bags any more since they shrunk it and removed any possible extra space the new-ish 140 limit gave us? They should have just put the chocobo bags to fill out the last 60 slots and make it a even 200 slots. In the old expanded view that would be a nice 2 pages with 8 neat bags split up for sorting. Also why do we still have 3 FULL bag slots for key items? It's literally impossible to fill up even 1 of the old bags at one time. I would be impressed if someone was able to take 30 different questions with key items and actually do so. It's not like actual key items that the players even stock up go to that bag. Primal tokens, raid books, 24man things? Anyone?
Then we have retainer inventory pages. Instead of a nice two large expanded pages we have 3 shrunk ones? Why? Did everyone suddenly revert to early 2000's monitor size overnight?
The new inventory layout is complete garbage that nobody asked for. Do the devs actually talk to people that play the game on a day to day basis before making crazy decisions like this? Giving us a less functional UI than we have been using for years is unacceptable.
Revert the inventory back to how it was or give us a complete unified single pane inventory.
Theres a thread on this in the UI interface section already.
This is my most hated feature of the patch so far. Really grates on me in ways I cant express. Such a minor thing I know but its a huge deal to me tbh. Especially when you consider the fact that we have the option for "expanded". But this is more of a middle ground between the "expanded" that we had and the "normal" that is now. -__-;
Please revert expanded inventory to its original state.
This is complete garbage and I hate it! Did SE not think that players may have used the old sections for organizational purposes? I had my pelts here, my ingots in this one, etc. My entire inventory and my retainer inventories have to be both re-organized and I lose a lot of the functionality the old sections gave. Now I have to artificially divide a single section so I can have my crafting items in some facsimile of organization.
While I don't like this modification.. it's possible they did it because people were misinterpreting the gui space left under the old system were slots that they just didn't "activate" and wanted a better representation of what your inventory was without giving some sort of weird false hope that these "unactivated" inventory spaces would someday become active. I know I saw some people actually post in this forum about how SE was stingy because the space was RIGHT THERE and they were withholding it from us.
No I don't like it. But I can see why it was possibly done.
i dont like the new inventar :( and yeah nice i have now a new seperate chocobo inventar ???? mayb with a other design :( i dont like it
I do not like this new change because of the 3rd tab, I been overlooking it a lot because it is combined with crystals.
I get the idea they where going with, trying to make the last 40 feel less awkward but the overall layout is confusing because of the 3rd tab.
Why not just give us 150 spaces for carry, 200 in retainer, make personal show 75 per tab and retainer 100 per tab? that way it is 2 tabs each.
At the end of the day I hope SE learns something from this, do not make changes people are not asking for without giving players some kind of trial or beta testing before officially releasing a change.
Also what "blank spaces to unlock" are people talking about? they said it was expanded to 140 items .. i mean... wth?
