Do you still make use of Poetics tomes?

I have seen people use them. I have seen people dismiss them.

What is your current stance on poetics tomes?

For me, I still use them for the following:

1. Gearing up alt classes below 70.
2. Buying and turning in shire accessories to GC for GC seals and FC points.
3. Relic (Zodiac and Anima items, though I just put them on the side until I need them).

Nope haven't used them for over a year. All of my job classes is between level 60 to 70. Also already have full set of ilvl 270 for all my classes that level 60. wish could trade them up for creation tomestones.

I'm mostly finished with Poetics at this point. I have all the Ironworks and Shire gear upgraded and stored on retainers, I have all of the items I need for the last bits of my Zodiac and Anima relics, and I don't really care about GC seals/don't need Topsoils. About the only use I have left for Poetics are to purchase the Mahatma for the Zetas since you can't purchase them in advance. I need about 2,400 total for that; I'm currently sitting capped.

I'm not advocating for their removal and I don't especially want anything else added to them for purchase (until next expansion when they move the i390 Tomestone gear into them) either, though. It's good that there's a defined endpoint since they're really useful for getting leveling gear.

If I don't need them for gear, all of mine go towards Grade 3 Shroud Soil, which in the end becomes loads of shards & Demimateria when all is said and done.

yeah, I've just been getting unidentifiable ore and trading that for thanalan soil with them, so they are useful for something. Just :)

I burned through a bunch recently with several of my lower level jobs closing in on 50 and working on a BRD anima for glamour. I expect though that soon enough I won't have a use for them anymore.Can you even get mats from them anymore?

I still need an asston more umbrite and poetics are still the only way to get them, so yes.

I decided to go back and do Anima, so whenever I'm close to capping, I dump them for Umbrite. Can't say I ever want to do ARR relics again though. Fuck those books.

Pretty much the same thing as you:

1. alt jobs
2. relic
3. get gear to turn in for GC seals (which are then used to buy mats to sell on MB, money money moneeeeyyy)

#3 is also how I spend allied seals when I'm not buying aetheryte tickets or venture coins.

While I don't seek out poetics (or AS) anymore, I do try to keep them unmaxed because all those GC = money, and I imagine I'll treat Creation the same way once 4.2 comes out and I gear up my other jobs.

I don't need them. I have two jobs under 70, and they are ones I am saving for new potd if we ever get it, so no armor needed. I have something like 3 completed ARR relics and 4 more in various stages, and to be blunt I can't do another relic phase that involves just grinding roulettes for tomes, only. I don't really need a lot of GC seals, because I can make money in other ways, and about the only use for poetics is to level desynth with them.

Sadly thats still more use than for verity, which i use to by scarlet urushi. Thats it.

I use them to gear up alt classes for the most part, nothing all that exciting.

Still have a number sub-50 so it helps when those classes hit 50 and then 60. But otherwise, I don't personally use them for anything else other than the occasional GC dump if I'm tired of being capped on them.

Not too much. All jobs at 70 + all 13 anima weapons. I mostly use them for topsoil for gardening, and any zeta weapons I may work on in the future.

I pretty use them just for GC seal turnover. Directly they serve no purpose anymore to me.

May I ask, how does grade 3 shroud soil become demimateria? Just what are you doing for them to become demimateria? And what sort of demimateria (and if they're different levels, for example fieldcraft demimateria 1-3, what levels)? This could be a godsend for me, but I'm truly lost on how you do this.

Everything is at 70, so I only use them for Anima as all my 2.0 relics are done.

I don't use them at all, except when I notice they're capped and I decide to make some side money selling materials. That's about the only time I'll bother.

The way I do it personally involves mostly using the shroud soil to grow a combo of voidrake & water/lightning shards. Mostly grow the shards with the grade 3, use grade 2 if you have it available for the voidrake, otherwise 3 works the same as 2 for it. I then turn in the voidrake for lots of volcanic rock salt, then buy half that amount in vitriol from the kobold vendor. Synth all that into HQ spirits of salt (rotation is superfast & easy with ala mhigan gear). Every 5 of those gets me an Artisan's Alembic (from Talan in Mor Dhona), which desynths into darksteel, fieldcraft III demimateria, or mastercraft demimateria. Whatever you can get the resources for from growing things is what you turn into desynths. This can work for most of the artisan tools.

CRP: not going to work this way since it needs spruce plywood.
BSM/ARM: get darksteel ore instead, make the needed products.
GSM: get gold ore, make rose gold cogs.
LTW: not gonna work. needs hippogryph leather.
WVR: get silver ore, make ingots, combine with silk thread to make brocade.
ALC: volcanic rock salt, get vitriol from kobold vendor.
CUL: need dzemael tomatoes. probably not the best way since it needs multiple other ingredients to make the final product.

I typically do it in batches of 1000 volcanic salt/500 vitriol. usually takes me a couple days of crafting to get it done since i just make them whenever i'm waiting on queues and stuff. I used to think demimateria hell was real, but now, its not so bad after all. (aethersand still sucks though)

Same list as OP. I think Poetics have a place in the game, but I wouldn't mind seeing the items available with them consolidated / reorganized, and made available consistently by NPCs in both Idyllshire and Mor Dhona.

I havent used Poetics in ages. Ive been capped at 2000 poetics for months. It would be nice if they'd add some everyday items like glamors, food, ventures, etc to the list of things purchasable with poetics. Currently they serve no purpose to me.

I buy gear and smash it for desyth levels. After I can't level on them anymore I'll find some other use for them.

I do the soil thing.... hadn't really considered the GC thing but I will now... with the housing update crafting items and mini aetherytes sell quite well

Buy 3.0 Anima stuff, that's about it.

The costumes look great, plus if you're leveling some lowbies (like I am) they're fun to grab and use on classes that share the same stat

Soil & leveling gear for alt classes

I use that for buying mats. The old HW tome items still have use. I have also used them when leveling a char from 50/60 to 70. They add up fast and can make a full gear set easy. Turn them in at your GC when done and get ventures of other crafting mats. I find them very useful.

You can use the Poetics to buy a shire accessory (item level 260), turn in the shire accessory to GC Personnel Officer for 1270 GC seals, then use those 1270 seals to get 6 ventures or a food item to supplement your EXP gain/secondary stats.

Yes, I'm on the long road to getting all anima weapons.

I just use them to buy soil, or if I'm feeling lucky, I burn Alexandrite maps to try to spawn Agrippa so I can be one S closer to my tiger mount.

It's mostly useless to me and even if I still do have uses for them I wouldn't go as far as to sit through hour long msq duties on a daily basis to gather them

Buying Ores to turn into Grade 3 Thanalan soils for my gardening patches.

Yeah, I turn them into gardening soil too. Beats only getting one for free for each eorzean day.
