What Happens To Houses We Have on Same World? Do We Get Our Money Back?

Hubby has 2 characters on our main World, each one has a house and an FC house. What is going to happen to his house on launch? Will one get demoed and which one? Will it get demoed on patch day, or not until the housing is implemented the week after?

You realize that you are forcing people to leave their FCs over this, right? He has worked very hard to attain and decorate his houses on both characters, and now you're just going to randomly blow up one of them?

I hope we get some say in which property gets demolished and you refund ALL EXPENSES ACCRUED IN THAT HOUSE to the owner. Cost of plot when it was purchased, cost of building permit, AND cost of furnishings that can no longer be utilized.

Absolutely stupid idea. I know why you did it, you're desperate, but right now, my house is the only thing that keeps me paying a sub, literally. Making sure my house doesn't get blown up is the only reason I am paying a sub right now. If you were desperate enough, instead of PUNISHING individuals, you could, oh, I dunno, GET MORE SERVERS! So you might want to take into consideration that personal housing is the only reason some of us still play.

Anyone who has a house worked REALLY hard to get it. If someone worked really hard on 2 characters, instead of just one, and want to have a similar experience for both characters and have a house for each that should be allowed. In hubby's case he wanted to go old-school FFXI and made one char for his melee/tanks and one for his casters/healers. He has put 4.5 years of hard work, playing almost daily into both of those. HE DESERVES BOTH OF HIS HOUSES.

Great job devs. You fixed the housing plot problem... But broke the experience for hundreds of people.

PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!!! Let us keep our houses on 2 characters + FC house.

Also you said personal houses would be restricted from purchasing for a period of time, but that players could still relocate. So if he wants to just move to another zone can he do that when the additional plots for FC are put in, since it's just a relocation? Or not buy any house anywhere for personal use until it's unlocked later?

nothing is going to happen based on the information we have now. it only further restricts buying of plots from now on.

From what I've read any player that owns more than one dwelling will not be affected other than they cannot buy additional housing after 4.2. In other words they are grandfathering existing housing owners.

Didn't they show in the live letter what it looks like when you try to log in with more than two houses? If they have that implemented, the houses are probably not getting grandfathered. You'll probably get your gil back though.

That would be a massive relief. I wish they'd put the site up already.

Gil back doesn't quite cover the blood sweat and tears you put into buying it and making/buying furnishings to make it look nice. It's easy to put 50 mil into furnishings for a medium, are they gonna give that much back?

Your husband did not break any rules. However, there are a lot of people out there who worked just as hard as your husband but are unable to get homes because there just aren't enough to go around. In the end, owning a home (assuming you don't buy from a flipper) comes down to either being lucky enough to spot and reach a reclaimed plot first, or having a good enough internet connect to be able to log on and reach an open plot before anyone else at a ward release. Hard work doesn't enter into the equation beyond getting the minimum required gil. Will opening up the plots held by hoarders completely solve the issue? No. But it will ease the problem and end the hoarding which does nothing but exacerbate the issue for no other reason than the greed/vanity of a small number of players.

I am all for fully reimbursing hoarders as well as giving them a grace period to select which house to keep, and even transfer ownership to their main. I am all for allowing all alts on a world complete access (without burning tenant slots) to a player's home on that world. But I strongly feel that the fairest thing for the majority of players, would be to reclaim the homes that hoarders are, well, hoarding. As far as I am aware, it is still unclear if this is going to be the case or if hoarders will be grandfathered in.

As for your last paragraph, from my understanding private owners and FCs alike will be able to relocate as soon as 4.2 goes live, private owners just won't be able to buy entirely new homes. The wording on the whole thing was a bit vague though, so I suppose it's open to interpretation.

Prior to SB we were a very low pop server, there were always plots available. The problem with transferring to his main is that he doesn't have a main. He uses a diff char based on what jobs are needed. What SE is doing is looking those players square in the face and saying "I know WE screwed up with housing, but we're going to punish YOU for our mistake." Our plots are indeed full now, but he's had these houses for a long time. People jumped ship to our server and now SE is saying we have to relinquish our houses for them too...
I really don't consider it hoarding when he plays each character daily and spends time and money working on each house. There are hoarders out there with 5+ houses, that's ridiculous. I don't think 2 is terrible.

i don't view that as a problem, the problem i view is people hoarding 16 houses on an account for a server doing nothing with the houses heh

There not taking houses away why would they give gil back??? and as far as your loved home..id bet top dollar my 3 homes have been used more then your 1 lol im in them lest once a day if not more lol all 3 maxed items been remodled many many times.. dont hate multi home owners cause you think were just hoarders some of us use our homes and rp or charcaters

But you can have a personal and an FC house for each of those 8 characters, so you can currently have up to 16 houses per server per account.

I only have my one house and the FC house. But part of me wishes I had another. Not a big enough part to want to level up another character and earn enough money for it, but a part of me. My house is pretty much all I do these days. I love working to make my house one of the best on the server. Some people raid all day, I work on my house. So stop shaming people for having more than one house. They prob use them more than you do.

I would be okay if people stopped playing because their multiple houses got taken away and they could only have one. More housing for everyone else. Plus they are like what...1% or 2% of the player base...maybe even less. Wonder what % of the player base has been desperately trying to get a house? Its much larger. But really these people aren't going to stop playing..because their other house will also be lost. Lucky for them SE feels the need to be super duper nice and let people keep them. :p

Thats the part people dont get..Now its easy sure jump potions..but all 3 of mine were leveled through msq (god i hate them 100 quest between Arr and HW lol)

Unless your brand new or since say when they offered free transfers..NO % was Deperatly trying for a house..Cause if they were they of paid the $18 to move to a server with house. and got one. many many low pop servers had 100's of empty plots..cause i can tell you for a fact cause i counted them the night before free transfers started my sever alone had 200+ empty houses at rock bottom prices..Smalls 1.5 mil med 8 mil..

They may have wanted a house bad but Despratly to me means using any possable action you can no matter what...So anyone prior to free transfer could of owned a house easy as pie

Most people with multiple houses per account have 2 or possibly 3 houses. Taking away extra houses won't help nearly as much as adding 6 new wards with the new limit placed. There are a few examples of extremes with people having 16 houses per account, but realistically those are few and far between.

I'm not so sure it's so much being nice as not having/wanting the dev time spent programming for a single purge. There's still some tweaks that will have to be made for FCs if what they mentioned is all that's been done because loopholes are already being discussed, but we're off to a good start. They just need to keep on top of things and close up loopholes quickly.

Probably in the "due to circumstances on our end" part. It seems to be a somewhat popular opinion that SE will take extra houses away from people. I'm not sure those same people realize how much time and money would be wasted on having to write up the code to do what they want. Especially since other than a few extreme examples, it would hardly affect the housing situation. The biggest problem with housing is just the shear difference in number of houses needed for players and FC versus the number that exist. In order to get close to meeting the demand, SE will probably need to add another 18 wards. And that probably still wouldn't help Balmung.

Yes but under the old rules each character could own one personal and one FC house making for a total of 16.

As was stated, prior to the free xfer there were hundreds of empty houses on low pop servers. If people wanted them badly enough they could have xferred sooner. They didn't, chose to wait until they were essentially paid to do it, and are now whining that people who have been on their new server since launch have more than one house and should have their property confiscated because "wahh someone xferred faster and got the last one."

We've been on our server since launch, hubby with both of his characters. I'm sorry you picked a high pop server in 2013, but you don't get to take away what we worked hard for and have spent years working on. I highly doubt most of you have even been playing since 2.0. (We've been around since 1.0 but were on Balmung for that).

I mean, I've had this conversation multiple times with people saying that the plots were empty before, that's fine or whatever, but still not really an excuse...you shouldn't take everything just because you can, in my opinion. And while you may use your houses, there are a lot of hoarders that do not even touch all of theirs. Those people on Mateus that own a whole ward have barely touched the majority of their houses (and they bought more after the server became active, and bought most right when transfers were announced).

Regardless, it seems to be a moot point. Several Japanese speakers on Reddit have confirmed that this will not affect existing houses.

As someone that actually plays on Mateus, I can confirm that this is a false statement. That ward is my "I'm waiting for my instance to pop" romping ground(and frequent rp gathering place), I love it, and I can tell you, I'm finding changes in those houses all the time, and currently all but three are open to the public to use for events, rp, etc (as stated and encouraged by the home owners). The three still locked are under construction.

SE advertised housing is part of the game experience. Housing should be available to EVERY player. Two years ago, if I knew housing was so sparse, I would never have opted to switch MMOs to play this and went back to WoW or some other I played in the past. I was fortunate last year to be able to swap my small house for a medium before the server merge. There were 2x mediums ONLY available and I nabbed one. Bad housing system is just that...BAD. FIX.

It's really not. I have an alt over there I play fairly frequently and while it's been a bit improved, it's just the same stuff over and over with only bare decorations put in. And even if they were completely, beautifully decorated, it would still be the height of greed.

Why is this still a topic? all old house oweners get to keep their one or 10 houses where new players who want a house have to wait till FC's snatch first and then get left overs. SE sure knows how to make it "fair and square" as Yoshida said for everyone.

Are you sure we're talking about the same thing? It's kind of hard to call any of those houses and their decorations "bare". I mean, it's pretty obvious that each open house has every housing item slot filled, the decorations thought out, dyed, etc. They put a lot of work in. Perhaps we should just agree to disagree though, opinions and all that.

I will say though, if you're going to say things like that though, it should be aimed at ALL home owners, means any person that has set up an RP space, and not updated it/touched it in a while, should be just as shamed as the ward 12 two. Some might think them owning many houses is greed, but they didn't break any rules, and the majority of those houses were obtained when the server was dead, and there were dozens of empty houses in all the wards. It only because a problem when people got a literal free ride to the server, and then cried when there were no houses for them.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. Hate the poor system SE has put into place, and rather than ragging on people that have just played the game as it was designed, complain about the company that designed it that way, and demand that they design it better. Housing shouldn't be a finite resource, but they insist on making it one. That is the problem that should be focused on, not some petty war between the haves and the have nots.

And I say all this as someone that does not have a personal house in the game.
