Godbert was only in the side quest of Hildebrand which is meant to be silly.

I agree, I always thought that old meme was silly (especially as most guides for FFVI always reccomended to simply one shot the Phantom Train with a Phoenix Down instead of wasting time trading blows with it).

While this is a neat thing to finally have the doomtrain as a fight (wasn't the phantom train already in ARR as a in-universe resource transport and allusion to doomtrain?), let's not get the Hypetrain too full ahead steam or we might get disappointed when many people's favorite meme fight doesn't proceed as hoped. It'd be a nice nod to the gag though if it's mentioned in a comment from an NPC though. I'm looking forward to the fight just because of that intro and the ambiance it promises to have so major thumb's up from me

Perhaps we might get a Phantom Train minion and a Sabin minion (or it could be any humanoid minion) and if they get near each other, a Train Suplex occurs.

Y'know, like how other sets of minions interact with each other.

Just have Sabin appear out of nowhere in the middle of the fight, suplex the train so hard it disappears into the ground, and then it continues from there.

In all seriousness though, at the end of the day this is just a meme started by a move used in the game and how awesome the concept of suplexing a train was. If SE does add such a thing to the fight then it'll obviously be fanservice, but I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you guys.

To be fair FFXIV is /literally/ 'fanservice the game'. We've gotten so many tongue in cheek nods to memes, most of the FATE's are legit puns or pull from internet culture, old games, and other silly content at this point that I'd honestly be surprised if they /didn't/ add something. Even just a tiny one off dialogue piece that mentions how silly it would be.

This is the best piece of fanart I've seen in a long while.

How about the next round of Sigma comes in, Suplex's it, and the boss ends that way. Then we get to fight that person/thing the next instance.

I mean, though, I fully expect this to be some sort of ATE, even if we do something crazy for the affect of flipping the train for the luls and big damage.

even if they don't do it as a battle mechanic (or some part of the fight) at lest make it so the fight has a minion drop of the train which then just gets random suplexed apon use of some "select" emote used apon it (Random NPC minion required at lest for lols)
