Final Fantasy Dissidia NT event... Why not?

Right now Dissidia NT is in open Beta and I'm really enjoying it. And guess what, our Y'shtola is there representing FFXIV and do we, Warriors of Light, know that? No, because they are wasting a great opportunity to make a cross-game event!

They could have made Y'shtola search for us and explain that she is being summoned by another worldly entity, and she may be absent. Or maybe she suddenly desapears and we have to find out what happen. Or even make some things to show that what's happening in Dissidia is affecting Eorzea and then Y'shtola is summoned. And they could create special fates with the shadow of some of the Dissidia playable characters.

And as rewards they could do the same exchange system they made for Lightning Returns event where we collect otherwordly item to exchange for glamour gear of some playable characters from the game!

Yoshi-P I miss events like Lightning returns. Don't waste gold oportunities like that.

In Dissidia, each playable character shows up after the conclusion of their story in the game(s) that they originate from. This is done as to ensure that the canon of their origin points is not disrupted and altered. In other words, Y'shtola isn't rushing off to fight in Dissidia in FFXIV's present canon. She does so after FFXIV's story is concluded...which isn't going to happen for quite some time. One thing it does imply, though, is that Y'shtola is unlikely to be killed off in FFXIV.

If we did end up getting a Dissidia crossover event then, ideally, it would have to be explicitly non-canon.

If you have played the previous Dissidia you should understand that their memories are locked and they were taken from their timelines without their knowledge. As the stories progress some regain fragments here and there. I love NT maybe SE would do something and perhaps we can be tested to battle only to be defeated and rejected, giving some kind of shard to get minions ( moogle version of Dissidia) or gear based those characters. I would love Kains or Kefkas :P I would love to see a Kefka laughing emote O.o/

That idea goes down when you look at Lightning appearance in Dissidia, Noctis being young, and also why would the villains be there if they were finished in their game ends?

So it is possible to create a crossover where it is happening now,.

Exactly! They have a pot of gold in their hands, to make a great crossover event.

Dissidia as far as i know is non cannon, the characters in the game are not the same you play in their games (they are memories/clones of the original enclosed in that dimension fighting for all eternity, with the exception of warrior of light iirc).
Also the history is told by the ff1 cid,iirc, so can be a fairy tale of sorts also.

Anyway, i agree that it would be awesome to have more SE games events, in my opinion we dont need gear rewards(to dont have the "but it takes a lot of time to create" excuse), if we have housing stuff, cool titles, and the main thing good quests with some lore of the game its enough.

I don't think so they beat Nintendo just recently in the first week with around 100k in sales for it. http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/...in-first-week/ They really need to do a cross over....I would be very disappointment if they did not. GIVE US EMOTE!!! :P

The heroes (and villains) are picked somewhat at random from their own storylines, yet it seems at weird points in canon when they have abilities they shouldn't have: like Noctis having (maybe, haven't played him yet) the full Armiger but a pre-chapter 13 personality, Lightning has apparently been picked from XIII in duodecim then in NT she mentions being "chosen" again this time with her LR: FFXIII outfit, WoL is implied that he goes on to LIVE the events of FFI after the events of the original Dissidia (wandering warrior with crystal in hand arrives at Corneria).
Y'shtola has her Heavensward look in the main story, so if her design shifts in 5.0+ we can be sure this is a Shtola taken from between 3.0 and 4.5...

At risk of losing my point in there: tying Dissidia canon with FF canon is a huge headache but I'd love to see what the XIV team can do with a cross-over event.

Dissidia NT reboots the Dissidia storyline anyway, given that the original two Disisidia games on the PSP were actually a retroactive pseudo-prequel to FFI despite the appearance of other FF characters (FFI's big villain Chaos was Dissidia's major antagonist, Cid of the Lufaine who was the narrator of Dissidia was (according to the later rereleases of FFI) the original builder of FFI's airship, the world map of Dissidia's world was a ruined lifeless version of FFI's world, and, as WhiteArchmage mentioned above the ending to the original Dissidia dropped off the Warrior of Light directly in front of Corneria Castle, setting up the beginning to the very first FF game).

Having said that, I doubt very much you'll get a FFXIII or FFXI style crossover event with Dissidia here in FFXIV other than a brief event that gives some trivial tie-in reward - specifically, you won't see the likes of Sephiroth or Kefka trooping around Eorzea as a part of it because ages ago Yoshi already stated outright when creating crossover events with other FF games, they will stick to very strict guidelines that outright prevent such a thing from ever occurring:

So basically, that counts out the majority of Dissidia as most have "roles finished in their titles" or "already dead" (majority of the antagonists). So, I'm sorry to say, I doubt very much you will see a FFXIII-style crossover event for Dissidia in FFXIV sadly.

Not really sure what sales numbers have to do with Pireco's statement about canon or the characters in NT being memories/manakins. Popularity of a game also doesn't denote the likelihood of a crossover or collab event as we've already seen with several other "surefire" crossovers that could've happened. I enjoy seeing how they can make allusions and mythology gags to other games instead of wholesale copying or inserting characters

I would love a Dissidia Event. I wish we could be the 2nd character pulled from the XIV universe. Have a short quest line, where we experience the events of Dissidia NT from our point of view. Have 1-2 fights against some villains, we meet up with Y'shtola, then participate in the final battle. After the event, we and Y'shtola return to Eorzea, having forgotten the events of Dissidia NT.

I would like to add that it be awesome if there were a Dissidia event in Eorzea. I would love to meet (as my character) some of heroes of Final Fantasy, such as Terra, Squall and OG Warrior of Light. I would love to fight against the likes of Garland, Cloud of Darkness (again) and Kefka (again).

What would it take for this to happen?

First born child? My immortal soul?

Yet if the crossover event simply turns it into only caring about the protagonists and having them beat the 'bad guys'...then that screws over a considerable number of Dissidia fans.

After all, the likes of Ultimecia, Garland and Sephiroth are essentially protagonists in Dissidia simply by virtue of being playable. Some of the playable antagonists are also far more sympathetic than others, too, such as Golbez and Gabranth when they get around to adding him.

True, however with enough demand it might be possible specially if it's their within their own company trademarks.

I don't think an NT event would be viable lore wise but getting to spend some time with Golbez would be epic

Would be nice as a Dimensional limit break battle one on one lol or some special move as part of after math of Omega. Fight one character that represents that particular job.

Just one thing here, the Dissidia story isn't rebooted. All the characters who appeared in the previous two games cleary know each other and the WoL and Lightning talk about Cosmos briefly.

As far as an event goes, it would probably have less to do with the FF heroes and villians and more to do with Materia and Spiritus suddenly appearing or something.

If you finished Dissidia 012: Duodecim Final Fantasy with all characters and clear the Dungeon it kind of leaves you on a cliff hanger type of ending. So no surprise there that characters remember fractions of past events. There was a CS also were the battle resets in an endless loop of light vs dark and gives a slight insite of what is happening now with Materia and Spiritus.
