Feast kids, please calm your farm.

Went into Feast as healer for the first time today on an alt that hadn't stepped into Feast yet and before the match even started the SAM was like 'good match' three times. :rolleyes:

Unfortunately we had the first death which triggers plenty of 'hello' and 'good match' spam from the SAM. Then I find my footing, we turn the match about but the tank is spamming 'hello' 'get the medals' constantly. SPAMMING. Not once or twice or 5 times. Just a toxic torrent, I assume because they felt a dps low on medals didn't grab fast enough at some point.

Anyway we win and even afterwards the tank is still spamming 'get the medals'. Looking at the board everyone on our side wasn't even bronze ranked yet, zero points to drop, nothing to lose. Just smh.

Unfortunately that's how a lot of newer players are who don't know any better about how things work.

You should have seen the chat before they removed so you cant type then ppl calling each other trash and fuckin noob, sometimes it was worse then that iknow several ppl who got warned and banned beacause of that.

Mileage may vary there. I've won and lost plenty of matches and made hundreds of mistakes, but hardly ever encountered someone who was just nasty toward other players for no reason. That's not me saying it doesn't or didn't ever happen, but I can personally say it happened quite minimally on my data center.

Now, then, since we're going there, how about all those parse abuse threads, "a Mentor did this awful thing" threads, angry MB undercutter tells, and all the stuff that happens outside of PvP, arguably with more frequency?

When are we getting quick chat for that?

This is incorrect. The Feast was an all around better experience when the chat was around. There were very few nasty or hostile comments and a lot of people with very very helpful things to say especially at the start of feast games.
People often created macros explaining the mechanics of Feast which they would hit at the start of games especially if there was a new player with them.
Often times when people said "I'm new" there were people that would be extremely helpful and explain, the game mode.


Of course there were people that were toxic, just like PVE or anything, However... As you moved up in rank those people became fewer and fewer. Normally people that took the time to stop playing and just be toxic lost constantly because they were so unable to focus on a game they would either derank or just not be able to advance. In higher ranked games people would just macro important commands and go with that only choosing to stop and type if it was utterly important.

Playing from Season 1-3.5 with chat and 3.5 to now without chat I feel the community is MUCH more toxic without the chat. Many people being unable to communicate you see a lot of hostility just building up towards other players, especially if you frequent the many pvp discords that are around, just tons and tons of negativity that could be solved by simply chatting with the other player. On the flip side a lot of new players are entering PVP with very very little knowledge about the game mode with the only resource being a website that you need to hunt to find in your PVP profile. This information should be an in game resource for players, but its not.

i agree that PvP can be hard to get into specially feast with the medal system but they are changing it to be easier it seems, they really dumbed down the skills on classes so it's not really hard to be good at a class anymore.
As for pvp discords fuck that they gonna be toxic no matter what, thats why i dont use them. Just be confident in your own gameplay and do the best you can and try to keep your winrate above 50%.

With the disabled of chat and reduce abilities, there is definitely a reduce in strategy for a very simple atk atk atk spam button gameplay. Which creates frustration with no explanation.

Yeah, this was my experience on my first time in, except quick chat wasn't in yet so people were just like 'gg', among other things. I wasn't exactly new to pvp though, so the next few matches after, won those easy. But good lords do people get defeatist about so many things.

It gets better the higher up you go (in my experience) since people are more tolerant/adaptive to stuff. And spamming tends to be more looked down upon in higher ranked games. I think it’s a newer player thing where they have shorter tempers. I hope you have better experience in the future though!

If this is to be their "premier" PvP mode, dumbing it down/makig it easier without ever havig made even a token effort to explain how it works, and blanket muting the players is entirely the wrong way to go about it. To see that this is what happens now compared to before is truly alarming, and if SE weren't too busy trying to look at skewed data and pat themselves on the back for "fixing" a problem that didn't truly exist by creating bigger ones, they too might be alarmed by the state of things.

This game has always been terrible at explaining things to players and that is not going to change just look at those upgrade items you need to upgrade some items they dont even say what item it is needed for... There is zero explanation on things like this, if your a new player this must be horrible...

Eh it has nothing to do with quick chat. The issue is that of ranked pvp in general, and how much your win relies on someone else. As well as how key healers are to this role, and how few there are. To be honest, they should just get rid of solo queue ranked, and focus on the whole team tournament angle with unranked modes for training and practice. Solo queue is always toxic in every pvp game you play, because you can't rely on randoms in a team-based pvp mode.

Nothing new. Bronzers in any ranked pvp are always the most foul-mouthed, delusional, and always think that they are carrying the team. If they spam chat, report and move on. (GMs actually reply back to those chat spam reports lol)

Mhm, if LoL is any indication, that goes aaall the way to Diamond. I never got higher myself, but even the pros at times exhibit that sort of behavior..

Yolo queue just is like that.

Chat was a mixed bag back when it was available.

I remember a player had an entire macro set that would brief you on the basics before a match. That was a BIG help when it was my first time trying ranked Feast.

And I remember another player saying that "all these noobs polluting our PVP need to be cut out like cancer cells."

In my overwatch experience, in which you can both text and voice chat as WELL as use emotes.........

Assbutts will always spam the emote....
