My theory for Sigmascape

So I was reading a thread with Sigmascape bosses theories and while I was writing mine I realized how much sense it made. Try to prove me wrong?

CAUTION: SPOILERS FROM FFIV.

So yeah, FFIV.

IV has the Four Archfiends, Scarmiglione for O5S, Cagnazzo for O6S, Barbariccia for O7S and Rubicante (the leader of 'em) for O8S.

And if you played the 3D remake of IV, you know there's an optional boss called Geryon which is LITERALLY all four fiends combined into a monstrosity. A sum of them all? Sigma(Σ)?

So in O8S phase 2, they all fuse into Geryon?

Also Sigma is the 18th letter in the greek alphabet, and Geryon appears in the Canto 18 (CANTO XVIII) of Dante's Divine Comedy: Inferno.

The thing that bothers me is that they said the new armor set will be the "Diamond" series, and although FFIV has Diamond Armor, the last boss in FFII actually drops the Diamond Armor, so who knows.

PS: I'm kidding, I know nothing in here is definitive proof, please. But it makes cents.

Not saying it's definitely wrong, but I'm not seeing it being these four.. I mean, what does Deltascape have to do with Delta? I'm personally thinking it's gonna be the games that Omega has been in that are represented here (The mechanical spider, not the Omega Weapon variant), and he only appeared in After Years for IV to represent V.

Omega has been added to most newer versions of the original Final Fantasy, which means we could see the classic Four Fiends if my theory is right (Tiamat would probably have an alternative name) and if they have a special second stage again for O8S like with Neo.. They could have Chaos for it.

Uh...hope not. A naked guy in a cloak doesn't look that epic to me.

honestly your theory supports IV as much as it does I
but if they only used games that the normal omega is in the original version of...

your only looking at V, XI, and XII, and FFIV the after years
V is done
XI seems highly unlikely though it does have some cool stuff
XII doesn't really have the most amazing of bosses, I guess the last boss is interesting but then what? fights against the judges? The espers are already represented by the ascians

Now, not having played 4 but having heard the name "Four Fiends"...

It would be weird if they started us off with a raid series based on the Four Fiends and the Four Fiends primal arc at the same time. Unless I'm mistaken and there are multiple groups named "Four Fiends".

The Ruby Princess! and if that's not a good enough answer: Sophia, Calofisteri, Garuda... excluding Siren and Succubus mobs because their whole shtick is to seduce.

Anyway, considering Deltascape had three bosses that weren't really all that memorable from FFV (then again, I've only played FFV once, so maybe they are memorable for some players?), I think it might be safe to say Sigmascape may do the same. Three bosses from X game and then the final boss being the final boss of aforementioned game.

I've already gone with my guess that it'll probably be FFX (since the gear is apparently of the Diamond series. Every character in FFX had their own exclusive diamond piece). I went with two random picks (because I had trouble with them as a stupid dumb kid) and then the final two being plot important.

Sinspawn Gui, Spherimorph, Yunalesca and Seymour (phase transition to Final Aeon in Savage).

Lich would be a badass boss in O8S and Marilith would make a great "petrification" boss, like a SCoB T7 part two lol.

You can't really judge it on the armour being Diamond gear, since almost every FF had Diamond gear in it... Only ones I can think that didn't was VII, VIII and X because you didn't equip armour pieces in them. Though VIII had an item named after the set.

An epic encounter should involve Zemus into Zeromus and not the 4 elemental fiends combined. If it's FFIV related I'd make it so:

1) Mist Dragon (Fought inside the Mist Cave)
2) Four Elemental Fiends in a row (Fought inside the giant of Babil)
3) Golbez (Fought inside any of the 4 Crystal chambers)
4) Zemus into Zeromus (Fought in the Moon's palace then turning into a chaotic mess for Zeromus).

I just love the Hardcore Italian names they have. So yes please

Diamond Bangle and Diamond Sword were in FF7 IIRC. Although, not technically armor, the Bangles did provide defense for you.

Oh, I forgot to mention, but all Scarmiglione, Cagnazzo, Barbariccia and Rubicante also appear in the Inferno of Dante. Mentioned in Canto XXI, They are demons called the Malebranche who guard the Bolgia Five of the Eighth Circle, as mentioned in the Wiki. Why all these names sound Italian.

I'd also like to mention that Geryon appears in Canto XVII.

Geryon appears in both XVII and XVIII

It's obviously going to be the Skullrus Rex, Jinn, Ice Golem and Dark King from Mystic Quest guys come on.

Hey now... gender discrimination is a one way thing.

Personally, Ive been under the impression that Omega weapon will be a "Best of the Classic FF" bosses. So that there isnt exactly going to be a huge rhyme or reason for the lettering (Delta, Sigma, ???). I mean there probably IS a reason for the Greek Lettering, but its probably more an abstraction or a wink-wink-nudge-nudge than some deep philosophical meaning.

That being said, youre more likely to see bosses from Final Fantasies that were note worthy. So my prediction is youre more likely to see bosses from...

FFVII
FFVI
FFVIII
FFX

Bosses from these games would make more sense, since theyre more iconic and widely known from the FF games, and FFXI, FFXII, FFXIII are to 'recent' as titles, and the earliest FFs were already semi represented with Deltascape.

Of course, they could also be operating by systems. So Deltascape was FFV on the SNES, Sigma could be a Playstation Title, and the last of the Omega could be a PS2 Title.

OR They couldve named it Delta because V and the Delta symbol look similar, so Sigma could be FFIII cause you know, similar looking.

They're named this way because of Omega himself, named after a Greek Letter

Well I got that, but why particularly Delta and Sigma, and not lets say Phi, Theta, Kappa, Alpha or other Greek letterings?

The only way to find out at this point is to wait till Sigma and see if there's an actual pattern. I personally think it's just a fanservice series of raid, and I'm okay with that. Just gib IV, VI and VIII.

Problem with that is the Crystal Tower raid has most of the noteworthy bosses of FFIII in it.

My theory is basically this omega is based off Final Fantasy record keeper and it even states on that game.

"Final Fantasy Record Keeper is a free-to-play social role-playing game where players participate in memorable battles from the Final Fantasy series"

Maybe added chocobo dungeon character and boom bam its a way to bring old bosses into the game.

O5s- Kain
O6s- four fiends
O7s- Golbez
O8s- Zeromus

i assumed the second tier raid would be against hero's since omega made that a big deal after the trials.

omega wants to fight the strongest thing ever which technically would be hero's strong enough to beat other hero's.

so tier two would be hero's and three would be omega. besides story wise they could do some cliche were we fight each other then help each other beat omega.

I don't think this would be a problem given that Halicarnassus in Omega is treated as a storybook character despite Halicarnassus already appearing in Haukke Manor hard.

Something along those lines was said during the lore panel thing in PAX West.

It probably will not happen, but I would love to fight the heroes from FF5 next. They could phase between jobs altering mechanics.... it would just be a cool change pace.

If my memory serves correctly and it may be wrong, but I recall Omega mentioning something about realizing he was pulling creatures that were defeated in their universes to face you and needs to challenge you with those that were victorious. That leads me to believe we're more likely to fight Final Fantasy main/secondary main characters. With that in mind, I don't think it's to far fetched to see Bartz appear sooner or later in this. (Or even a cameo appearance of Sephiroth? I mean... if they were ever going to put him in this game, this would be the way to do it imo).

That's arguable, as some villains in the franchise have succeeded with their goals.

Ultimecia actually succeeds in compressing time in FFVIII (even if it does get undone when you beat her). Caius Ballad also succeeds (and that isn't undone). As much as I hate the floating 'immortal' tick, Yu Yevon also succeeds for a thousand(s of?) years. FFXI has multiple alternate realities and in some/most (according to Balamor, the best character ever), the villains win.
