FFxiv Long Hair Styles Suggestions
-
None of the hairstyles suit the theme of hairstyles that the game has. Which while some has a fantasy like feeling, retain realism. Sephiroth's hair is already in the game with realistic proportions for a few races. Xemnas' hair might just pass, but the others are far too crazy and wild to fit into XIV.
-
Less anime hair, please. There should be a happy balance between goku hair and other styles. How about some curls instead of spikey hair?

And yet male Au Ra hair exists.
-
Oh god, none of those hairstyles would work with this game.

While true that their hairstyles definitely fit into the more fantasy like setting, several Japanese rockstars have styles very similar to them, and they are not that over the top like extremely thick, ass length hair that spikes out everywhere.
-
I'm always surprised how much people want long hair for males. There's a shocking lack of short hair.
-
1st its supposed to be fantasy man its a MMO. these are suggestions since they already added everything else into the game. Au ra hair styles defy gravity so can these, theres no issue. check my other post out suggestions for short hair styles, cuz the long hair styles in the game are to feminine currently. look at madara he has long hair but he cool cuz of the spikyness btw heres tissue

Really don't know who that is meant to be for, but I think you're gonna need to keep them since these or anything close to them won't be added.

I want a large variety of hairstyles of different lengths, but I only want shorter hairstyle for myself because gear clipping makes true endgame unplayable
-
I mean, if you're fine with extremely stiff/plastic-like hairstyles...
Longer hairstyles (like Sephiroth's stupidly long hair, for example) will be treated similar to how capes are. Extremely stiff until you get to the bottom, where it might probably move to the wind. Or not. It'll look super weird on jobs that do flips and such.
-
My Hyur character has a long hairstyle that appears to have some form of hair physics applied to it. Nothing amazing, but it does move when I do, and i believe reacts to the wind. Not all of them are plastic.

But nothing we got in game goes beyond the shoulder blades. Ass length hairs will definitely be limited in movement as free flowing like they do now will be too much work and even distracting in the game. There is a reason capes are limited to their movement with the wind, and hair of that length will suffer the same.. And then people complain hair clipping with collars of tops, imagine the complaints when it clips with the entire armour.

I'm not sure that SE considers clipping that much. Otherwise they wouldn't have put that stupid fan collar on the female WHM AF 70 Gear. I wish we could remove it because the clipping on it is pretty obnoxious. I totally understand the clipping complaints.

Oh I completely agree with the Whm collar, makes me wish they had a 'visor' option for certain elements of body armour. So you could have collars up for short hair, down for long hair or remove capes if you don't want them etc.
-
I don't want any long, spiky hairs, but I wouldn't mind long hairs, period.
We already have clipping issues and we all know they're not going away.
At this point everyone works around them or just accepts them - so let us have our long and beautiful hair. Frankly, I'm a little tired of all these shorter / boyish hair styles coming in. :/

For me the clipping complaints never made sense because we have a lot of options for glamour and hair. No one has to wear things that clip so the the player themselves is responsible for being annoyed about their character's appearance. Still, it's good to let SE know that /visor commands for armor and other clipping solutions would be appreciated.
Long hairstyles would be awesome and honestly the ones presented in the OP don't look so different from male Au Ra hair. Females could get a voluminous messy hairstyle too (but less spiky).

Hence why I mentioned Sephiroth. His hair is incredibly long and if it were put into FFXIV, it will be incredibly stiff (more so than it already is in Kingdom Hearts). It'd be awkward on MNK and NIN due to how often they flip around.
-
I just want waist length hair for my lala. One as a pony tail, one straight, one curly, and one as a braid. IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK!? (yes.)
-
Plasticine hair styles don't do it for me. In fact, their meringue-like stiffness would cause all sort of clipping issues.
What I'd like to see if an improvement in hair physics overall. Have the hair act like hair, for twelve's sake!

i have used this argument before, and will do so again happily. The Final Fantasy series as a whole has a certain visual appeal that somewhat transcends that of many other rpg's (or mmorpg's for that matter). To be against longer hair options seems akin to being against many of the memorable characters that have made the games so beloved by a great many players. After all would it not be tantamount to saying those character designs were not an important aspect of those characters?

These are just a very few FF characters over the years that have been arguably some of the most iconic designs in gaming history. Appreciation of those characters should be explicable in this ode to FF series that FFXIV is.

No one has outright said they're against longer hair options, infact ones like in Luna's post would be ideal. What most are against are when they are so wild and crazy that they just don't fit the setting, or so long that history in the game has proven they would be like having cardboard coming from your head that ends in paper. Tamed longer hair is ideal as long as you're ok with clipping issues, but when the hair basically takes up the entire character like the big black spikey knee length hair in those pics before, it's rather ridiculous and not pleasant at all in the setting.

Female Roegadyn actually have a style quite similar to that already, just straight rather than wavy. (I was tempted to use it for an alt character I made, but I was sure it would clip through *everything*....)
So that could just be a matter of unlocking race-unique hairstyles to be used for everyone - though I'm undecided whether that would be generally a good idea or not. It's nice for each race to have some additional unique features, but also nice to have everything accessible to everyone.

What is wild and crazy is unfortunately subject to taste. However we already have examples in game of very outlandish and eccentric hair.

Yes it is on a statue, and i believe it also exist in a painting, whatever the case it builds proof that such hair styles are part of the current in game world.

DREADLOCKS FOR MEN PLEASE.

Sadly I find it more than likely that there will just be a continuous trend where everyone gets short easy to do hairstyles that don't require much work to animate and won't clip as much. I just dismiss it as the character being "practical"
the very few long hairstyles we have are frighteningly rubber-like.. try the au ra hime-style with ninja wearing anything with a collar sometime if you haven't yet and you will see what i mean. it literally bends in half with the collar sticking through the middle.. and since almost /everything/ seems to have a collar that sticks up except a few rare pieces of gear prepare for your hair to look like it is defying gravity to stay in place almost regardless of what you play as.
I would /love/ long hairstyles, super long hairstyles in fact~ as I'd love to make a "warrior of light-primal" themed character (like someone idealized WoL) but honestly if they really wanted us to have those sorts of hairstyles they would have given us a couple like Ysayle has by now, or they would have put hers on the cash shop.
They need to fix the animations on the "long" styles they already have before adding anything else honestly..
Even my vintage ffxi mithra hairstyle clips and it /barely reaches the bottom of the neck/

I certainly would enjoy an improvement in the hair and clothing physics! It's something I've thought about before. For the record, I think the current system is nice, I don't dislike it; it just can be improved to make it even prettier.

I would love a FF14 without hair clipping. Sadly I suspect the technical hurdles to make it happen within the current engine may make it an impossible dream.
