...... Locked behind a £120 statue. I hate you SE
Pretty sure the statue is supposed to be the main thing here, not the emote lol.
Then lemme buy the emote from the mog station on its own ><
If they put it on Mog Station they would have to do the same with Zantetsuken from the Odin statue. But I would prefer not, it's an exclusive item like the pre order bonuses.
I've spent more money than that on figures before.
It's a pretty nice figure and it's a rather decent price for what it is.
I don't want the sucky figure! I just want the sparkly, twirly, awesome emote :D
Like the Moogle Cap was for when you pre-ordered 2.0 and the Moogle Attire was for when you bought tickets to the 2014 Fan Fest? >w>
Personally, I think SE would make more money and satisfy more customers if they had the option to buy the emote separately.
Like so many have said about the Odin Statue, you should be spending that much money on the statue, not the emote tacked on. >w>
I understand why players would want such things on Mog Station, but honestly it takes away that exclusivity that you would get from owning it. There are some things that I've missed out on like the Namingway and Relm minions that was exclusive with previous art books, or the FFX fan fest minions, but I'm all good with that. I probably wouldn't get them on Mog Station if they were because I have little use for it. But as a collector, buying the Odin or Shiva figures would hold long term value and would no doubt stay in the box and I'd just use the emote codes, which is a nice bonus to have attached to them.
Anyway that's just me. I think it's ok how it is, but perhaps they should offer the figures in more event competitions so people have a free chance of getting one.
Exclusive items have already ended up in the Mog Station. Veteran awards were largely nerfed. I wouldn't be surprised if the minions that come with a lot of the merch will end up in the Mog Station too once their bonus codes expire. Exclusivity has already broken down on several fronts in this game and isn't the sturdy reasoning some people think it is why SE shouldn't make things more easily accessible
I don't understand exclusivity, why should you care what someone else has? I just love the emote, it really made me smile. I don't care if everyone has it!
Another cool thing I’m not gonna get. :c
£120 emote, you get a statue as a bonus.
I see nothing wrong on selling the emote separately. It's a bonus, not the main thing. You're paying for the statue, not the emote. They can even sell it after they put the item out of order. Since the mogstation's money goes straight to XIV's team instead of SE (as far as I know), having these extra income won't hurt them. I'm sure a lot of people would pay for both Odin's and Shiva's emotes.
Like I said in a similar thread, I don't live neither in the States or the EU. So, the price of the statue combined with the shipping cost is insane for what I get. Not worth it. But damn, I want that emote and I'd pay for it since there's no shipping involved...
Just curious, has anyone seen the actual emote yet or have a gif/video of it?
I purchased the the Odin statue and to be honest the emote was just really a bonus. I saw yt fanfest in Vegas and loved it. It is also a nice collectors piece so purchased a total of 3. One for my personal use, second for my collectors, and third as an investment. So yes those of us who love the statue would see the emote more of a bonus. Over all the quality is really really nice.
Just because they exist and are common doesn't mean they should. If the statue is the main reason people supposedly pay the high price, why not optionally let people get the emote in game through some difficult achievement?
What are you talking about? They should hence the word exclusive content, then again any type of collectable merchandise can only really be appreciated by die hard fans who can afford them. It may seem a bit unfair to some, however it is a great way for revenue from a business perspective. The limited edition figure types are even appreciated more, emotes is just an extra way of the company saying thank you for your support. Now for the main question as a collector, Do you want to depreciate the value by opening it? It may suck but yes some of us by two of them or even more one for our personal use, and one for our main collection.
If you can't afford this statue, you shouldn't be caring about emotes.
If you can afford this statue but not interested for any reason, remember it's just an emote you wouldn't use that often anyway. You're really not missing out on anything unless you're the type to idle in cities and spam emotes.
Mog Station cosmetic items are also designed for those with disposable income and who don't care about statues. The Shiva emote would fit there very well! :D There are two good reasons to add it to the Mog Station: 1) many players would be pleased and 2) it would bring more money to FFXIV. Just because it doesn't need to be available to everyone doesn't mean it can't be. Just like the Chinese/Korean outfits which were brought to the international version for the 2 reasons I mentioned.
I actually ordered the statue because I like it. The emote is a bonus, that probably wont get much use outside the first week or so(or if I'm ever finding myself in a Shiva EX I will pop it for screen shot purposes).
Like so many have say is basically a 150$ worth Emote you get figure as a bonus.
Put these emotes to MogStation, they will get my €€€. Keep them locked behind statues, they won't get any €€€ from me.
Statues will still sell since some people like to collect, but on top of that SE would get extra money from people who only want emotes.
Simple as that. :p
When the price point is that high, it doesn’t take many purchases for it to be considered successful and for them to do this kind of practice in the future. My fiancé is a game developer, and her (small) company works on multiple f2p card mobile games. They do the exact same thing: have a lot small micro transactions (see: our mog store) and a few big ticket exclusive items once every 6 months. On average, only less than 2% of their community will buy those items, but they’re still profitable. It also adds more value to the lesser priced items, since it makes it seem that they’re a better deal.
Square runs a high/low business. Some of their items are competitive to other games, some are much higher. This falls into the latter, and unless they’re in the negatives in their margin, they’ll keep doing this.
I'am basically a true emote fan and have them all (even those in mogstation), but the price for the 2 statue is too high.
I can't and won't buy them.
++ I would have prefered to see this in savage or ultimate content because of the particularity of these emote.
It would have been a true reward.
