Has anyone seen a roundabout date for 4.2? Is Eureka going to be in it? Is anything other than more houses going to be in it for that matter? I'm getting bored and really wish I had something to pass the time (would love to have a relic to work on)

Considering how long it's taken for patch 4.1 to be released I'd guess 4.2 will arrive about mid February!... :)
Given we are getting Live Letter part 1 Dec 15... likely February. Now the question is; what the hell am I going to do for the next two and a half months. 4.1 feels bad man....
January 16th or 23th. SE is nothing if not predictable and with the exception of 3.1, each patch has taken roughly fourteen weeks. As 4.1 released on Oct. 10th, that puts it right around the mid-January mark.
As for Eureka, I fully anticipate it being pushed into 4.25, which will probably release either very late February or early March.
999 stacks please :)
are there any other good mmo out there other than wow worth playing if I'm waiting 1-2 months just to have something to do I think id rather throw my money for those 1-2 months at another company till then :\
These downtimes are good for me so I can play other games in the meantime. Got plenty of games from Steam that I can't play because of XIV. <.< MMOs are so time-demanding.
The downtimes between patches are nice for me. Lets me work on slowly getting all my classes maxed out(crafters are still mostly in their 30s, only 3 of them are 40+), and helping friends through story/dungeons/stuff on their alts. As well as lets me do some farming(stupid Zurvan not dropping his bird after 18 or so runs...).
Also gives me time to play other games at the same time.
As other people mention, it's perfect time to lvl up other classes, play another game or just hang out with friends, or farm mounts, or take screenshots :P
There should be a smaller patch before that to take down the current lockouts a little bit before 4.2 hits, that's what I'm curious about.
Sadly, I doubt they'll do that. Neither Gordias nor Midas ever unlocked before the next tier dropped. They only opened Creator because Stormblood was on the horizon and it resulted in a prolonged tier. Would be nice though, especially since I'd like to properly gear other jobs.
Usually mid Feb
It's possible they might remove the cristalloid weekly cap on deltascape normal when near the patch, since they did the same thing with midas tier a few weeks before 3.4 dropped
8 months for the new relic is way too long. It should have come out last patch.
Well I'm still working on v4s mount, shinshex mount Lakshmi mount and then PvP new mount. And if I get all these before 4.2 I'll go for tank mounts.
So yes I got plenty of stuff to keep me busy and still enjoying it
I'm the same way. Though, there are also the HW savage things that I can do...and finish the coils...and get the rest of my crafters to 50 so I can use Moogles on them all(only 5 more that are in their 30s, 1 at 48, 1 at 50, and 1 over 60)...and finish leveling all my classes to 70...still tons to do this expansion.
I have way too much stuff to do to have it all done by February.
Tbh I'm excited to see what the next stage for the Omega raids will be. My guess is either Kefka's Tower or Ultimecia's Castle (more likely the former since it'd probably make more sense to go from FFV to FFVI bosses).
There's a few things I wouldn't mind doing, like collecting some more minions/mounts, trying some of the savage content - but the brick wall is the wait. Too many times I've logged in, queued for something (sometimes multiples), then given up after doing nothing but spend 45 minutes waiting with no end in sight.
They always seem refreshed after the winter break. So expecting great things.
YES!! The Four Fiends would be amazing! And it'd be cool to have an actual fight against regular Zemus too, since technically we didn't fight him in the original game. I could see him ramping up the Mindjack mechanics or something like that since his whole thing was brainwashing people lol. And then you beat him, he tells you "the body dies, but the spirit goes on", and then Zeromus appears to spam Big Bang and counter everything you do until the party wipes :P
As for Kefka, I wonder if they'd do a raid for each of the final battle tiers since we already have the Warring Triad in FFXIV. That second tier battle would be wild to see translated to XIV's mechanics. Best part of that being the raid setup would be getting to listen to Dancing Mad in all it's sections.
I really dislike this argument. Leveling alt jobs or characters isn't content unless you're a completionist. If someone has no interest in ever playing casters, why would leveling casters be considered content for them? By that token, you may as well say "have you gotten all thirteen Anima relics? No? Stop complaining! You still have content!"
People want something that appeals to them. No one should expect to be entertained all the time, especially if they average 8-10 hours a day. Right now your chooses of semi-relevant content is Ultimate, Rival Wings and Rabanastre. If you're not a hardcore raider (7% of the playerbase) or interested in PvP... you have one piece of new content for the entire patch. That simply isn't good enough.
So... you want them to produce content that will take... let's say three months for a patch, and thirty minutes a day of playing to complete. That's 45 hours, and that's kinda low for many people out there...
What exactly do you want them to create that will take this long to complete for every kind of player in the FFXIV community ? For raiders, for crafters, for gatherers, for RPers, for housers, for completionists, for midcore players, and so on ?
"Dang it ! Square enix didn't do something that I like, they sure as heck are not producing anything good !"
The game lacks repeatable content with long term goals.... Not having the relic weapon out yet has a lot of people bored I'm sure.
Personally, I have all jobs leveled to 70 aside from crafters, the ponies and birds farmed, my squadron is nearly all 60, I have 340 gear for my healer, I have a house and apt fully furnished, and beast tribe rep completed. At this point I have nothing left to work toward that I care to. So for people like me.... yes these content droughts suck.
Yeah, my point was, though, "no game development team could provide that much content every three months that isn't brainless farming". I agree that my way of phrasing it was too agressive, but the point is still valid... you just can't create that much content that will appeal to everybody... that's how MMOs work... You shouldn't be annoyed that FFXIV doesn't have content for you anymore, you should be grateful that you played it for probably more than a thousand hours.
That doesn't mean that you should throw away the game, but then again, it takes more time to create content than for people to make it, unless it's brainless farming, and I think it's something we should consider...
WoW's pretty much done with its current expansion for the next 8-12 months, so wouldn't recommend getting into it for a short time anyhow. Of the F2P mmo's i've tried that weren't terrible, there was
-SWTOR (boring style, great story and class design)
-TERA (a solid go to f2p mmo, not p2w)
-GW2 (is okay)
-Blade and Soul (if you like heavy Korean themes)
-Wildstar (it's not dead yet)
But ur acting like 4.1 brought much difference from beginning of 4.0. Especially if people never do ex or a single raid they have had six months of the main content they have being leveling jobs. At some point leveling alt jobs can't be the defacto answer to the game not providing long term content.
They could u know balance their classes in the mean time, the amount of blms that have cleared ultimate is just depressing. Hoping we get some info the 15th.
Like Ayer said, FFXIV lacks repeatable content. Eureka being delayed made it so unless you consistently raid, there just isn't much to do. I can appreciate it simply wasn't ready, but why not release an initial step even if it's grind oriented? I mean, once the Kojin stuff are maxed out, what exactly do they do except be yet another leveling source? Why not tie the initial relic step to them, squadrons, dungeons and various other content? That's where I feel they dropped the ball.
On a smaller scale, they could unlock Savage or weekly tomes, thus allowing people to practice alt jobs they do fancy without loot restrictions.
The developers really dropped the ball with not releasing anything related to Relics in 4.15. The first step of the Anima weapons in HW started in 3.1, so there was at least something for players that don't raid or who aren't doing Ultimate or who don't constantly craft/gather to do. But, by delaying Eureka, and by proxy the Relics for this expansion, the developers screwed up royally. Because there's just nothing to do. I'm sorry, I don't think I should be grateful that I was able to do most of what I've done within a couple days if you were to look at my entire play time for this patch, and then be left with nothing to do.
Like Bourne suggested, they could at least unlock the loot restrictions on Savage so that people could gear up alt jobs or join in on weekly clears without screwing up the coffers because everyone wants 2 chests. And there are a lot of raiders that enjoy joining in on various groups throughout the week just to help out or to have something to do--I had a lot of fun in 3.55 doing Creator Savage and gearing up all my 60s and just running the content in general. But, we can't with the loot restrictions still in place when people want 2 chests. And they probably won't be lifted until 4.2 when the new tier drops.
Guild wars 2 will always be a decent side MMO and you don't need to pay a subscription.
Dungeon Fighter Online for that old school arcade style combat if you don't mind the stamina bar (last a average of 2 to 3 hour playtime but a decent 4 hours if your character is level 70+ content) but the game provided plenty of events for free stamina and stamina decrease slows down a lot at high level content.
