Anyone choose their main...

based solely on their glamour options? I mained a MCH from HW till now and had never found a look that went with its weapon gameplay. Tried maining a NIN recently just because I love its gear set from Sirensong. Tried with WHM too because the Dreadwrym set looks great on an Au Ra, and now trying with DRG because I love the look of its i100 Astrum set.

Give me class/job free glamour options outside of artifact gear and I will go back to my MCH. For now though, aside from its artifact gear, the MCH glamour options are poo. IMO of course.

When I started the game a year and a half ago, they had (and still do) the lvl 50 AF preview for the jobs and I got to be honest, the only one that got me interested was DRG.

And yet I ended up maining SMN. I guess no matter how badass DRG looked, the SMN gameplay ended up trumping my aesthetics.

I choose my main well before glamour existed.
Though I suppose the aesthetics of a greataxe in general may count.

Not really, I choose my main because of their role. Later on, yes, I decided to level some jobs just to glamour them the way I liked and just leave them (Besides learning the basics). Actually, that was the reason I leveled all my crafters/gatherers in 2.0. I liked their class' uniforms so much. I got them and forgot about it. It wasn't until the last expansion that I got truly interested on crafting.

As a semi-related note, I'd love if they could include something like the Chinese version here. They sell you some universal glamour packs including the gatherer/crafters sets. Although I'd rather have an alternative where I won't pay a penny, something like being able to craft them in-game or get them with in-game currency (non-cap'd tomes/MGP/beast tribe tokens/hunting seals).

I used to main DRG(when I started March 2015) because, well, dragons have always been something I've loved, and though DRG is designed around the lore of being a dragon killer, it still connected me to that. I also loved the jumping around and dealing damage.

I wouldn't say I chose my main class based on glamour options, though I do generally like WHM and MNK gear a lot?

I did, however, start playing the game in the first place based mainly on aesthetics. I'd actually sworn off MMOs at the time, but when I saw that you could play a catboy this time (something that disappointed me about XI), and how good the gear looked in general, I decided to check out the beta anyway. And here we are, two expansions later and I've never let my sub drop off, and I still change my glamour every couple of weeks.

I've been a huge fan of Final Fantasy for many years, now, so I'd probably still have been hooked on the story even if it weren't quite so pretty, but glamour is a major part of what keeps me active, rather than just dropping in for a month when they release new MSQ.

Well, what really sold me on the game was the roe PLD in the ARR cutscene. My husband was trying to get me to play and knows I have a weakness for sword-and-board classes in MMOs. He showed it to me and I fell in love with the aesthetic of that race/class/gear so much that I decided to try it. I straight-up designed my character to match the PLD valor armor set. Even though I love the fact that I can play all the jobs on one character, PLD will always be my main and the valor set will always be my glam.

I did pick archer/bard based off of how much I liked the AF1 gear, so I guess so!

I had sort of the reverse. I wanted to be an archer cat man, the idea really appealed to me. I made my character and when I chose my job looked at the AF gear and made the decision I still wanted that robin hood aesthetic but the gear was better suited to a female character so i went back in and created a female miqote instead.

Right now unfortunately im finding I havent got a whole lot to do inn game aside from weekly stuff on a tuesday so I went back remade my cat man as a monk and am playing through the story for nostalgia until 4.2! hopefully gives me something to do iver the hols

I came here from WoW in mid 2014, and in WoW I mained a paladin, but I was retribution and holy dual spec'd. So, when I saw that paladins in this game were tanks, I defaulted to my first WoW alt, a mage. So I rolled as a BLM. Thing is, it took no time at all to realize how different WoW mages and FF14 BLMs were, which was fine, but at the time, BLM felt slow to play, so I tried BRD, and have never looked back. I was completely unaware of artifact sets when I started, and didn't have appearances in mind for a long time. Of course, I glamour like crazy now, but it played no part in my decision initially. ^_^

Played BRD as my main for the longest time in 2.0, started to gear up to raid, FC leader had a mental breakdown at the time and quit after my ps3 died, no glamour back then although the BRD AF set was nice.

After playing and stopping so many times over the years nothing really is my main as it changes to whatever I happen to play for that week or whatever I happen to be leveling.

Considering making the switch to warrior because I love the look of the first 3 stages of their anima weapon (The ones after awoken Parashu) by far some of the best looking axes in the game.

When I was just starting the game and literally knew zero about anything I chose conjurer as my starting class because I thought the preview of the level 50 gear looked really cute on my little Lalafell. I ended up setting it aside though because healing was stressful for me.

Yes, in a weird way.

In 1.0, I had 2 characters; male Lala, female Miqo (no male option in 1.0) because Nobuo Uematsu, when asked what race he would pick if he were to play he said Miqo.

So I never deleted either character over the years, and somewhere during the patches between HW and SB, I switched from my Lala main to my Miqo, and went on to make so much more progress on the Miqo that she became my main, and all because I just liked having more glamour options that I liked.

Not gunna lie Hyomin, that Aoidos set is sexy as hell and so is the AF3 gear. If SMN did not exist, I would probably main BRD just because they got style.

Job’s core mechanics must be considered first.
Glamours can come later.

Not fighting class. But I definetly chose Leatherworker simply for its lvl 50 gear a few years back. :p Now I'm thinking of getting Blacksmith to 50 for the same purposes. ;)

Not really.
I started off as a CNJ/WHM and just rolled with it for the entirety of my ARR and HW career because I enjoyed healing.
For SB, I decided I wanted to main MNK because it was my fallback class when I didn't feel like healing, so I'd already knew the role well enough that it shouldn't have been that big a deal, although I did feel a bit of regret after playing thru level 60-70 and getting 4 years of muscle memory shit on with Riddle of Fire and the loss of Touch of Death and Fracture but I still play it.

Glamours for WHM were never anything special, apart from the ARR Relic, but the gear itself was very meh to look at. MNK has been hit or miss. AF1 and AF3 gear was decent but AF2 gear was just god awful.

Not my main, but my secondary class surely. I'm even leveling BRD right now because while I like MCH, BRD at present seems more my speed with the changes they made. The sweet sweet siren song of glamour has nothing to do with it I swear... It's totally not my top reason for leveling that class. Nope, not at all.

I also initially didn't level SCH just so I could have both healer AND magic DPS glim glams. Nope. Not me.

I don't have an alt since I can simply play all classes on one character, obtain one set of glamour items, and mostly keep things centralized. So all I have is a main.

Nah not really. I chose WHM cuz it's what I played in XI and I liked it. Bonus is, I did like the AF set. I do kinda wanna level my other classes to make different glamours though, but as a casual player I just don't have the time sadly. (Particularly dps jobs, dem queues.)

No , but leveled some other classes because i wanted to wear some glamour.
