Healing bots in raids

Has anyone noticed their fellow healers acting like bots in raids lately? Cause I have. Do people put actual bots in raids now? I know that's a thing in PVP but not in raids.

It's just that... well, they don't react like healers or even with any common sense. I've seen the DPS ones that just DPS regardless of everything (like the whole party is dead but they're just hitting stone 3 the entire time) to the point where they don't move for obvious mechanics or they're these overhealing healers who pop every CD at the start of a fight (for no reason) and then just do Medica 2 and three cure 2's on the tank (rinse and repeat.) If they die, which they do a lot, it takes them nearly the full minute to accept the rev.

Am I just getting the worst co-healers in the game lately or is this a new thing in raids? I never noticed it before. =/

They're just people watching netflix probably

I know that I can't spam heal all the time, so usually I'm standing there waiting and watching to need healing. I think may have thought I was a bot when I forget to move around. xDDD

At the risk of restarting the time-honored sub-forum debate, remember that you can be attacking while no one needs to be healed. A healer standing around waiting for heals to be necessary = bot, Netflix, or Facebook :)

Back in the world of darkness days my group witnessed what was most likely a heal bot on a script. It would unsheath its weapon and slowly walk towards the F2 player, sheath the weapon then cast medica and do it all over again every few seconds. Another time we found one that if you typed in /say Cure it would cast CureII and then Medica II regardless of healing need and always targeted the same person.

Most are probably just distracted/drunk/sleepy/bad or whatever but I do believe some are legit bots.

it is not just healers. Many people just stand still and do nothing. I let them die and leave them dead until they come back and ask for a rise. If they do it again I'll leave them dead until someone from other alliance rise them.

I’ve noticed a lot of idle healers; wouldn’t necessarily call them bots as I would call them lazy though.
Now the PLD I had in Rabanastre a couple weeks ago that only auto-attacked.... would be tempted to label him as a bot, but he was probably just hoping for a carry.

When I see these kinds of players, I call them out in chat "Hey X, are you here? You seem to be only casting Cure II and doing nothing else?" Makes other party members pay attention to their behaviour (in case you want to kick the person) and in best case, makes them step up a bit (if not botting, just lazy)...

This is exactly what I'm finding. I'm not trying to open a 'healers are lazy cause they're not DPSing' or anything like that. I mean actions that seem scripted. One popped all the CDs at the start of the fight, then cast medica2 plus 3 cure2's on the tank and only did that for the entire fight. The only change was when the CDs came off CD. The tank wasn't actually the main tank so he was at 100% most of the fight anyway. That's not lazy healing. That's 'I'm not at the screen' healing. Regardless of whatever else was going on in the fight. Others just cast Stone the entire time, regardless of the fight. The whole party is dead but the healer is just casting stone (ignoring requests for revs and all that.)

Things of this nature. Lazy playing, perhaps, but laziness that makes it seem like there's no one guiding the character.

Well...in terms of healers, we just get lazy in raids I guess. Especially ones that never drop gear for us. I ran Void Ark 10 times in a row to get the robe(still have not gotten it) and I got nothing that I wanted/needed in those 10 times. I bet by the 3rd time I was half asleep....

Also, most raids tend to be unsynced and healers can heal through the AOE's/mechanics a lot of the time.

In general people just stand around also because raids can be boring if you do one too many times or are unsynced and it is very easy.

Just out of Deltascape 2 - seems a group of newcomers decided to join this one particular time. My co-WHM was quick to write out tactics after a wipe (seeing as people didn't use the lift-mechanic to share gravitation damage on the two healers). However, said tactic-spewing WHM didn't throw a single stone or DoT for the entire fight afterwards. Not only was I maintaining my DPS rotation (I was a stern advocate of Cleric Stance in the past), but keeping the entire raid topped up and had to raise at least 7 times -- meanwhile, I think I saw them casting MedII once in a while and possibly some CureI's.

It's upsetting to know that even with Cleric Stance now gone (RIP), some people are either too scared or too lazy to even throw out some Aero's at the very least. The Netflix angle is a poor excuse - if you're not entertained enough by the game itself, then why log in? Log out and go watch your movie - someone who actually enjoys using a class to its fullest would be welcomed.

I saw this with a healer not too long ago. Well either they were a bot or was watching stuff on the side and didn't give a crap, they definitely were not new to the duty. They kept dying to the same AOEs (o4n) and never bothered to move, so eventually I just stopped rezxing them and called them out that I'm not going to waste my mp on them if they aren't going to make an effort. Of course I got called the jerk, but I don't sign up to solo heal unless it's via PF and this was through DF, so yeah.

Bot or not, it's still lazy.

I'm not talking about these times. I'm talking about synced stuff. Nor am I talking about standing around because you can take the damage. I'm talking about scripted, repeated movement that makes no sense. It's one thing to stand in an AOE that'll do dmg enough to kill you when you're unsync -- you'll survive it. It's another thing just to do the same thing over and over and stand in that AOE that just killed you 10 times before while all you're doing is casting stone.

Because it's my time and I'm carrying them? And more parties aren't aware enough to go with a vote dismiss.

It's also very difficult to vote kick when you only realize the situation when the fight has actually started and you can see who is doing what (or isn't doing).

Seconded on the difficulty of kicking in raids. Drops need to be rolled on and it's entirely possible to clear the trash and get to the next boss before the previous loot rolls have timed out.

Whilst not a bot, I saw a CNJ trolling in Rabanastre a week or so back, as mentioned, they didn't roll on stuff, rushed to pull the next pack/boss and then went afk whilst occasionally baiting people in chat. By the time the raid irritated enough to stop pulling and wait to be able to kick them, they simply dropped the raid before the vote could go through. Ironically they then managed to get back in on Argath only to start spouting more nonsense :/

Back on topic, I totally wouldn't be surprised to see a bot capable of running 24 mans. There's plenty out there that are doing far more complex stuff already sadly.

Have you tried putting them on obey?

Well all these points to serious problems with design of the game, the system, the governing body.
All these instances where healers dont even need to heal. All these instances where you cant get the loot you need without throwing in months of work. All these functions that are just a time waster. All these instances you cant even get a party for. A policy that allows unacceptable behaviour and promotes the undesirable.

You need to make the devs do something about it.

Oh, have you guys tried the player search in the social menus. If you pull it up you will see a long long list of bots.

Bit of a necro? But anyways, it's a topic that's come up here fairly often. It basically comes down to... if you do stuff minimum ilvl sync healing is needed, but realistically we all outgear stuff so badly healing is trivialized. Unfortunate, but... Such is the nature of low tier content.

i will admit i've been guilty of sleepy healing. dozing off and just spamming stone instead of cures =p

I've seen scholars pull out their fairy and set follow on a dps, and then do nothing...

This is a horror story unlike anything I've ever known. For some reason I pictured it happening in Rabanastre of all places.

I see it a lot more often in levelling roulette than anywhere else, honestly.

SCH fairies are tuned so high that SCHs can play green DPS in low level dungeons. You can basically pretend you're an arcanist again and it make no difference.

In fact, players like that are why the fairies got slammed with the nerf bat in 4.0.

The problem is especially lazy ones will try this in higher level content, to the pain and suffering of the party.

I ran out into a SCH that was doing this in a low level dungeon.

I asked them nicely if they could actually play so that the dungeon would go faster for everyone, but they got cheeky about it, so I kicked them.

Healing in general is tuned really high in the lower level dungeons. I honestly prefer to go SCH when I do Mentor Roulette since I usually end up healing Dungeons or Guildhests. If I get a lowbie duty you better believe I'll let Eos do all the healing so I can DPS and get us out of there that much faster.

I think the super high potency of healing at low levels trains healers to be "bot-like"- hardly any attention is required, just cast your heals now and then and everything will (probably) be k. Obviously things change as levels go up but when all the game requires of you is to spam a button or two to do your job in most scenarios, some people will naturally take the easy way out.
