Giuseppe: Unfortunately, the release of the Shirogane housing district didn’t go as planned. We know that you’re planning to help the situation with 4.2—could you provide any details on what you’re going to do?

Naoki Yoshida: The Shirogane housing area itself was very stable when it launched with Patch 4.1, but we were unable to meet the demand for housing plots, which in turn caused player frustration and dissatisfaction. I would first like to sincerely apologize for that.

In order to resolve this issue, we will review the percentage of active players who own housing as well as the number of active Free Companies that do not own housing, and from there work to add an appropriate amount of additional wards to all four existing housing areas in Patch 4.2.

Giuseppe: Are there any plans, maybe in the long-term, to provide new wards on demand dynamically, allowing all players will be able to get a house? Alternatively, could apartments be expanded with things like terraces or yards, to allow those who don’t have a house to access outdoor features?


Naoki Yoshida: I’m not sure exactly what you mean by “dynamically,” but with us making active efforts to alleviate current issues with the addition of new plots, I believe we will be able to be more flexible in accommodating housing-related issues. However, we are not able to create a system in which land is generated automatically whenever there is a deficiency, or create a system in which the number of plots changes depending on a world’s population.

Other MMOs can do it just fine. Why not create a new housing area based off new code that would allow it?

I agree, as a freelance developer i would guess it require a brand new housing system as it seems like they are quite limited with their code and system for housing. But I would welcome a dynamic system that automates wards as needed.

"We also are planning the implementation of new specifications related to the purchasing system as well, but we will announce further details as we get closer to release. We would like to give all players equal information on the system while avoiding any extensive preparations prior to the release of these changes, so your understanding on the wait for updates would be greatly appreciated."

This seems very promising. As a new player one of the things that brought me here was having a housing system.

He all ready said back in Oct. in the thread he posted here all 4 wards will get housing...............

"we will be working to bolster our servers in preparation for additional wards in the Lavender Beds, the Goblet, Mist, and Shirogane by patch 4.2."

But where dose it say this "Equal numbers of plots". I see this "an appropriate amount of additional wards to all four existing housing" but if they were smart they double what ever number they have now for Shirogane seems the order of housing demand is Shirogane>Mist>Beds>Goblet. Your titles a little miss leading since some people are really hopeing they add more to Shirogane then other wards

They could create a fully instanced housing system that could run in parallel with their current ward design. If properly designed it would require less system resources than the current model and be much more dynamic. It could also remove some of the restrictions such as the 20 exterior item limit. SE tends to say they can't but it is really that they won't and has to be due to money not technical reasons.

Did people think they were only going to add new areas to Shirogane? I don't get why the article had to bold that part like it was important... :B

Yeah the number of wards has always been equal for all areas, so that news is a longer way of saying no changes. Not only same number of wards per city, but same per world too despite different world populations. That's just the way it has been designed.

It must be nice to be optimistic lol joking aside. We've been burned so many times and it feels like it same old "fix". I really hope they do make it better this time but i doubt it but we'll see when they make the official announcement

Regarding their comments regarding adding something akin to the terrace, I wonder if they could just make it so a room is viewed as being outdoors when it is not. So people can use all the functions and goodies that are only usable outside. Sure it would not be as pretty as a terrace, but could make it a green house or something. It is still could be within the same server that handles / progresses them interior.

It really depends..if its a lottery system than nothing much changes. Now you just need luck with getting chosen in the lottery instead of the luck to be able to log in. In the end if they do not introduce a really big amount of houses (and much more large and middle ones) this will change nothing. Some might get lucky and get a house (mostly a small one) and most will still be without one.

It looks like they are gunna add some sort of system to allow FCs to get houses before individual players because they are looking at the number of active FCs without housing. Hopefully they dont consider shell FCs to be active, but we all know they will.

The fact that Yoshi stated that added wards to each of the housing areas is old news. SE added wards before to what housing districts that existed at the time, equally.

What is new to me that SE is looking into the number of active players who own houses and the number of active FC's who don't own housing. Wondering what that could mean for housing.

I hope by active players they look into each char thats holding a house, not just the account its self. i know 4 people who are no longer on my server holding 4 houses 2 larges and 2 meds for no reason they dont play the char they just took over dead fc's... play time on them char is once every 45 days wile there on there main

Yeah well I think that loop hole stinks too. I would rather see them implement 1 private house and one fc house per account. If you transfer servers, then you also give up your right to own a house on your previous server. They must then start anew to purchase a house on their new server.

And yes I think the 45 day inactive rule should be put back into place. Too many houses are sitting once again collecting dust.

I think that line was mostly just about looking at the total amount of houses need to support the demand from both players without houses, and FCs without houses.

i agree the timer needs to go back up. put in a clause if your billing adrress is in any area effected by the hurrican you can contact suport n save your house. but the amount of people not playing right now is high. As far as the per account i own 3 houses check any thread lol but i play 1 char a day the next day i move on my wife n i play all 3 couples every week twice a week

That's not what Yoshi stated in the interview at all, so let's not change the wording to suit. I know on my server, that 65% or more of the housing in all wards are privately owned. That leaves a small percentage for those with FCs, but without housing to support their FC ambitions. And on rare occasions when a house for an FC becomes available, people are having to settle for a tiny small cottage for their FC. I guess those players, who are made to settle, have to throw up their hands and think it's "better than nothing"

There is absolutely no mention or even hint of giving FC's priority.

More wards, huh? Let me get excited for lobby errors (same system of implementation), having to camp out (random availability system), having the same chance as winning the Jumbo Cactpot (lottery when you're on Balmung) or having no chance at all for a personal house (FC priority). The only solution is to add wards by demand as the game's population grows and if that's not doable, perhaps stop up-selling housing as a game incentive and rewarding housing items most people can't use every single event.

And imo it would be bad to suddenly give the priority of housing to one side of possible owners and not both. The current system allows private players and FC houses to own houses. Suddenly changing it to give FC priority would just annoy lots of players that also waited for a private house for months/years.

I would be fine if they introduced two extra wards (on top of increasing the amount of wards per zone) per zone which would be FC only for a day or two. This would give the FCs at least some more chances but at the same time everyone else also can get their hands on plots in the other new wards. But making everyone for FC first would just cause another uproar.

Putting ASIDE the amount of resources it would take up... The major downside would be it's locked to FC but! Just imagine..

You get instanced FC Wards.The FC purchases an instanced ward from wherever they'd like. So then anyone in the FC can buy a small/medium/large. FC house can also have whatever. So EVERYONE can have a house.And if you NEED more, it will add more (like apartments) but only when everything has been filled.

PROS
Everyone gets a house
People can get multiple spaces
You can buy at your own time
You still have that neighborhood feel with FC mates
No house flippers

CONS
Tied to an FC
Neighbors only FC mates
Pain to access to view from non FC members
A crap ton of resources from SE

So here are a lot of complaints I've seen and solutions:
Just not enough housing via
-People owning more than one-Houseflippers or just in general
1 house per account
Instanced Housing
Rent
Increasing apartment space
==

This could work, but probably hard to implement, I would love FC owned wards that are separate from personal housing.
