Sheaths<Can I have it?> <Do you want it?>

I would really love to have sheaths in this game, it would be very cosmetic appealing. I mean, right now they just kinda float there.
Of course not till 2.0
of course if you don't like it you can /hidesheath or whatever.

Anyway, it would be great to actually get a sword or a gun out of a sheath, so I approve it!

People have been requesting this and capes from SE since 2004.

Still, I'd like to see it.

I'd like to see the new MNK weaponskill while wearing a cape... what a tangled mess that would be.

I'd rather see my actual weapon at my side/back instead of a cover.

As far as capes go, there was a dev post a while ago saying that capes would be difficult to implement even after 2.0... pathetic.

it would add some realism i suppose but i dont think id like the way it looks while in combat.

they said they would be hard because of the flow of a cape. they would rather not have capes, then have capes with a wonky flow to them. me too.

They mean difficult in quality. I think we don't want a cape with low quality like in the other MMOs?

As I said in op, y ou could have the option to turn them off..... so why not let us have em?

If something like this prevents them from getting the game to us sooner, then it can wait for a future patch, but yes I wouldn't mind having sheaths, but they aren't totally necessary.

It would be nice but it's not a deal breaker. Might be something related to Samurai since he said this:

Yes to implementing sheathe. Cloud, and Vincent have them. I think it'll be fancy if we have them too.

A sealed letter addressed to Carl's private villa in Kuwait arrived mid-morning during his pre-scheduled massage. Upon reading it he boarded the first flight for England with much anticipation.

“No no,” the doorman replied in a casual tone “he merely wishes to converse with you.”

“Oh quite all-right then. Cheerio.” Carl tipped his hat and entered the reception room,where he was greeted by a seated Duke Rokien.

“Do come in do come in, pleasure to meet you,” the Duke said while extending a gloved hand in welcome. “I've heard about your exploits, all about them. I'm quite fascinated by your work and I am quite certain this will be a meaningful conversation to be sure.”

Carl didn't know what he was on about, but returned the gay-full merriment the Duke had exhibited at his arrival. He was ushered into a room on the third floor, a fireplace crackled and popped on the far side of the room, radiating its warm glow across the coarse fur of the decapitated boar head mounted above it. “Ah yes, I raped that boar to death with the bloody stump of its dead mother. Good times good times.” the Duke reminisced, Carl wrote his words down in his blackberry.
The carpeting was plump and dark, it was comfortable on Carl's bare feet as he fled away from the Duke's foul breath.

“Carl,” the Duke cleared his throat with a hoarse cough “I called you hear today to witness my art.” He sneered.

“Your 'art' sir?”

“Yes yes, if I could direct your attention over to the window yonder?” He pointed at a wide window to the left of the door they entered.

The Duke appeared at his side, masticating an unlit mahogany pipe.

“Would you look at it! Isn't it marvellous!” the Duke marvelled.

“But sir, isn't it just children playing in a sandpit?” Carl questioned.

“Of course of course, but watch- oh dear me, I've dropped my pipe.” the Duke ducked down and fumbled with his pipe on the ground, Carl watched as the children evacuated the sandpit with haste while gardeners who were previously trimming hedges deftly replaced the children with stone replicas.

“Oh drat!” the Duke muttered with wroth as he up-righted himself next to Carl with his pipe in hand “I've missed it again! Well no matter, just a moment fine lad I have work to do.” he ran out of the room with a hot red fire poker in hand. Carl stood in brief bemusement as he righted his senses. The Duke was stark mad! The sound of stone breaking, metal clanging against it, echoed through the window.

Carl watched on as the Duke unleashed his fury on the poor stone replicas. As limbs fell away they scattered chunks of meat, but no bone, so Carl presumed they were minced animal gizzards. When the Duke had completed his conquest he urinated all over his now utterly destroyed foes and set fire to the remains with his now lit pipe and a bucket of petrol. He then stripped his clothes off and danced down the street scarring by-passers and on lookers alike with his flabby man boobs and non-existent genitalia. Well perhaps he did have genitalia, it just wasn't visible for the hair.

Carl left the premise with a firmer hold on reality.

Here is another example. If they can do this for a lone Samurai on a mission in XI, I imagine they can do this for XIV. This time for the players

I'm happy that more people are in support of it then when I first brought it up. but ya, no capes.

Support yes, for A Realm Reborn Launch? Its not an emergency to get it in by launch, but at some point down the line 1-2 patches after Launch, yeah I would like to have Sheaths :P.

NA FFXI came out in 2003, JP FFXI came out in 2002.

Yoshida said he would consider this, but in my opinion he was bluffing. This would take A LOT of work.

Some of the weapons will need more of a harness then a sheath though, so sheaths and harnesses ;d

the only job that SHOULD have a sheath is a samurai. cause its just cool that way.

I think it'll also be cool if Ninja can have their katana sheaths on their back.
