*SE opens up MSPaint* brb
Not that I don't disagree, but if they didn't have this planned already chances are that it wouldn't happen. But then again, I guess it depends what type of cutscene you want? Full CGI or just an in-game one. I'd like to see a full CGI movie-like cutscene and watch Eorzea bathe in a tub of fire.
Hopefully they have had this planned for a while :D
This would be nice to have, instead of just logging in and having everything be different.
Honestly, it's so far away that it's likely that SE themselves don't know exactly what they're going to do with this.
Judging by how drastic the changes seem to be, I really doubt we'll just be "logging on as usual" as it's almost like a new game entirely. We'll probably have the starting cutscenes and maybe even tutorials all over again which I'm personally more than fine with.
Lol it isn't far away for them. Where I work as a programmer the lifecycle of a large project is not measured in hours, days or weeks but months and years.
That said, I fully expect a new CS either at the end of 1.x and/or the beginning of 2.0. Brand new players will need to understand why the world is in the state it is, a terrible apocalyptic event recently occurred after all. Veteran players will need something bridging the two different states of the world for continuity.
V2 will almost certainly have a new CGI opening cutscene. The current one might even be removed.
They might just incorporate it into a new intro for 2.0 showing the old world being destroyed/reborn/etc. The meteor in the sky gets bigger with each patch so we might understand why the changes are coming well before 2.0.
Ya but we will get world changes befor 2.0, so What I want is a CS showing us what happened when we log in or something. I don't wanna log in and do story missions and watch it that way, when you can just step outside and see what happened.
I think the echo will protect us an warp us hundreds of years into the future <_<
Hey, look, Rokien necroed one of his stupid threads again.
Just another monday on the FF14 forums.
I hope the world change story is given to us in short stories released in bits and pieces in Japan-only magazines, a Vita game, a 3DS game, and a Japan-only cell phone game. Only true fans should understand what is going on.
I think Answa thinks World change = world merge not the 2.0 thing.
I was assuming the OP meant the changes to the world that come with 2.0 and not the world merger happening today... I certainly don't think the game needs to explain the population explosion happening because of the merger.
However we are getting 1.21a along with the merger so we shall see what world changes that might bring but I still don't expect a CS. :D
2.0 CS, yes please ^^
Don't feel bad Answa. Only Rokien would necro a thread the same day that the worlds are changing in a drastic way.
If anything, we probably saw a glimps of what will happen when we all got the echo. (Dark skies, fire in the sky, etc.) Personally, I have doubts Dalamud will actually hit, due to a moon-sized object directly hitting a planet would wipe Eorzea off the map, and don't forget the mass-extinction events that would occur all over Hydealyn. (In that context, it makes the empire look like it's run by omnicidal maniacs.)
Rather, going by the early cutscenes from the main scenario quests, I think what will happen is that the beastmen will summon thier primals, who in turn will use thier god-like power to either redirect Dalamud, (like the lifestream in FFVII) or destroy it while it's still a distance away. However, regardless of which scenario happens, it will be too little, too late to save the land from an indirect hit, Hence the massive star shower from the early cutscenes, the screwed up aetherite camps, etc. We'd still see a major world-shattering cataclysm, but still have a believable means of surviving to tell the tale.
Just speculation on my part, feel free to add your opinions.
What I'm hoping will happen:
1 day before the servers go down we'll see Dalamund in the sky, and it will slowly get bigger and bigger with a countdown timer on the screen. All the shops and guilds will be closed since, well, the world is ending. So basically we can log on and watch Dalamund get closer and closer. When the countdown hits 0, then the cutscene will play that shows Dalamund hitting Eorzea, and so no one misses out, you can log in anytime after the servers go down to view the cutscene.
Thats like asking for a storyline for each little change made to the paladin skills in 1.21a. Are you not wanting to login without and explanation to your skill changes too?
I don't want the world to end! How would I find out if Sambonz from Youtube ever figures out how to finally sell all the items in his inventory he's been collecting for the past year?
Clarke's third law more or less states there is no difference between sufficiently advanced science and magic, so I would say physical laws can apply in a fantasy setting. Besides, we already know Dalamud is some kind of ancient technology from a dead civilization, and they've had stuff that could be scientifically explained as far back as the first game in the franchise. Again, it's speculation on my part, but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. (that and I like the thought of the Empire being run by madmen willing to kill us all for ultimate power.)
I would love to see a cut-scene welcoming us into 2.0 and explaining some of the changes. ^-^
So would it be possible to do something like masa said?
as 2.0 comes I really hope they do something right before these servers end.
well things are always planned before they take place or they couldent actually work on anything, because theres no plan.Quote:
Honestly, it's so far away that it's likely that SE themselves don't know exactly what they're going to do with this.
the 2.0 pdf's showed the simple form of the plan. they had over a year so far.
we need a epic dream(a dream because not everyone is lv50 and cant finsh everything)in the last part of 1.23 patch then when 2.0 starts we need a "what happend after that dream became reality" when we login.
Recap for those of you tuning in:
Rokien necrobumping a Rokien thread about stuff Rokien has no clue about.
