Don't punish players who 90k in POTD

I don't normally post on forums at all, but after suffering a 90k in potd on the 141st floor this needs to be heard. I literally just lost 14 hours worth of work to an insanely dumb policy.

I am currently attempting to solo POTD to get to at least the 181st floor (I managed to get to 174 on RDM and made it to 179 on BRD). Once you get to 151st floor, worrying about normal enemies is bad enough. One of my biggest fears and worries shouldn't be losing all that work because of dumb idiotic policy.

It's not my internet connection. My internet doesn't time out on anything and hasn't in a long time. I just don't see why I now have to do this all over because of SE's questionable at best server connections (I'm doing my best to be nice here).

I can understand why this happens with people intentionally DC during crafting, but I don't see why it has to exist here. Give us a chance to come back at least. If I die to a stray mob or something I even understand that. I'm not suggesting that I should be able to start over. I like the difficulty. But if I am going to be prevented from re-entering, let it be because of MY error, not the error of the servers.

Happened in 3 of my groups. Two times at floor 60 boss and once at floor 80 boss. Part of us would get 90002 error and other would be stuck and couldn't move from huge lag spike. It is bs don't like having my time wasted when don't get much play time. Could made it to floor 100 in all 3 of those parties.

What the OP is saying is you should learn to read before being negative judgemental. Players these days.

Op, I can sympathise with your plight. Random DCs are what prevents me from attempting to solo HoH. I'm not sure what it is, but for some reason if you dash to an enemy that dies before you reach it, it seems to dc you. I've noticed it when a dash clips slightly through walls too. Happened too many times to me, and others I've ran with. If you DC solo, you lose all progress.

Now considering he's trying to say it isn't the internet and that this is a "Dumb policy" first off let's actually understand what the word Policy means.

Now, Considering that Deep Dungeons have NOTHING to do with management in this sense at all, Nor is it a definite course or method of action selected from among alternatives and in light of given conditions to guide and determine present and future decisions, As PoTD doesn't affect any decision making by Square, And the last one is also inaccurate as it deals with Governmental Bodies, His usage of the word "Policy" is inaccurate. Infact he should've stated that the DESIGN is what is "flawed".

Now once again I will reiterate a point I made in my previous post.

D/Cing during a late-floor Deep Dungeon run, especially solo, can be devastating yes. However I can, with a 100% certainty, guarentee everyone that not a single one of the 4 people that have solo'd PoTD complained about how it was designed on the forums. They may have verbally said something, but instead of bitching about losing their progress due to a death or just bad RNG from the game itself that caused them to die on a floor before Floor 200, They persisted onwards.

Edit: Also just as a side note, You are WILLINGLY accepting that something might happen anytime you utilize the internet, let alone go into an intentionally difficult, intentionally challenging dungeon where you KNOW you'll lose your progress should you d/c FOR ANY REASON

Edit 2: PoTD and HoH are OPTIONAL content where you accept the parameters BEFORE ever even going into the dungeon itself. So don't complain about losing your work when you KNOW you WILLINGLY accepted it.

SE have ALWAYS had server issue from its first day of introducing ffxiv. Numerals content suffer from this. S ranks, large fate, feast, frontline, PoTD, HoH, server instance battle, and more. Your saying is players should be punish for SE mis-managing of unstable server rendering it unplayable to a large population of its player base? It's not that the content is too difficult, it's also the fact that there is a hidden difficulty with 90k randomly that can't be predict.

OP is talking about disconnects. The longest crafts take a few minutes. If the save files could be reused, you're still looking at close to an hour for the later sets of floors.

The punishment for DCs doesn't just affect solo runs. If a member in your party disconnects and doesn't return before someone leaves, you can't continue with them/at all. I had this happen recently. It was only twenty floors, but there is no reason for it.

Your disconnections are not SE's fault, it's yours. Not once since launch of ARR have I ever had a single problem with connection. Yes it can sometimes get laggy but I've never d/c'd. Just because you d/c once doesn't automatically mean it's SE's fault, and if you're doing it consistently multiple times a day then its your internet not SE. Get over yourselves, Square doesn't owe you shit. Deep Dungeons are MEANT TO BE A CHALLENGE. They are ENTIRELY OPTIONAL content that you AGREE TOO when you queue up for one. You KNOW the rules when you queue up, You ACCEPT that if you d/c, for ANY reason, then you have consequences to pay. You know this is a fact about all Deep Dungeons since PoTD was first released. Stop complaining about you d/cing and losing progress. Yes d/cing sucks but it's a fact that whenever you play an MMORPG there will ALWAYS be times where someone, whether its you or not, is going to d/c at some point, probably muiltiple times, throughout your time playing the game. Stop acting like entitled spoiled brats that bitch, moan and complain until they get their way. D/Cing has been punishable since Deep Dungeons became a thing with PoTD YEARS ago.

It's not SE fault it's the player base? Lol. Oh boy, you must be blind or pay by SE to talk nonsense, the reason why 1.0 fail is because it was unplayable to the large majority of the player because how SE coded the game. With the launch of 2.0 they had to segment the zones into smaller ones. They had to move the north American server from Montreal to Sacramento. They had to stop using level 3 channel which was horrible for Comcast players. Not SE fault???

All I was suggesting was to give players the opportunity come back into the instance they were originally in. Give them a chance to recover from a disconnect. I agree that cheating measures need to be taken with forced disconnects (like in crafting). The difference is, with Crafting, you're not in an instance. Being a multiplayer game, if you DC in party content, you're still in the instance if you come back. It's much more forgiving. I'm just suggesting to give soloers the same courtesy. I mean, if you DC and come back on 151+ you'll probably be dead anyway, but at least give that opportunity.

I never suggested that I wanted a do over. That would be cheating. I'm not suggesting a change to anything content wise. I like soloing. I like the difficulty. I even like the RNG (to an extent). Being a multiplayer game, there's not a lot of solo content, so SE probably doesn't have the solo player in mind when it comes to most content. The D/C "policies" are more geared towards party play, and with good reason. Hell, doing research on this I'm not even sure they actually can do anything about it. However, one of the main selling points of the forums would be that it would get looked at by SE themselves. Chances are, they probably can't/won't do anything about it. I knew that writing it originally. But if there was a chance that it might enact a positive change, why not at least try?

(On a lighter note, I've gotten a bit farther since I posted this originally. Been in the 180s several times and am still vying for 190).

Personally I gave up solo on POTD after that wack battle on Floor 160, Yoshi P. doesn't understand how to balance bosses and enemies if he expects people to solo this thing.

Nevermind the timer which makes things worse, remove the timer and just maybe it will make POTD more bearable.
