DRK Relic: Scythe plz

In all of the frustrations found in DRK (and people barely holding on to it), please make the Stormblood relic weapon a scythe.

I love having paid for the scythe as it is, but you could have done better. Glowing, more menacing, embodying a more job-related color, and addressing the very minor attack motions found when purchasing the scythe on the Mog Station.

For those who didn't play FFXI, Scythe was the staple of the Dark Knight.

There is a Scythe on the mogstation for all. Since greatswords have been FFXIV theme for DRK, I doubt they will change from that. However I do think more scythes need to be available in game for DRK

I've never understood for a while why SE doesn't just combine the looks together for a truly unique weapon (Long sword with scythe shape on end). Here's some interesting pics from google:

I guess the fact that a majority of all our swords are nice and straight is part of the problem? Well, shinryu's greatsword atleast has a second blade on the side. They could at the very least get more creative with our sword shapes without a need for a scythe.

I don't want a scythe personally because DRK in XIV was designed for greatswords so the animations look absolutely bleh for a scythe type weapon, but I'm fine with more scythe models for folks that do.

That said I doubt strongly it'll be a Relic Weapon, because they tend to keep those close to the original theme, and again, that's a greatsword for DRK in this game.

We already have scythes. They're used by botanists.

Yeah, unfortunately I think the warrior animations would work for a scythe much, much better than the dark knight animations. The people who came from FFXI deserve the nod and should have a few options. I personally like greatswords and if all else is equal, that's where I go in most games.

They have an A+ in Scythe and an A in great swords, but yes, you're correct in that the class quests revolve around a great sword.

Honestly, using a scythe for combat is a really stupid idea, because the blade is curved back towards you and can only hurt someone with a reaping action, as opposed to a glaive which can stab and slash someone.

You could argue that this is a fantasy game and that real world physics shouldn't matter to much but if we go with that logic, we should all be shooting lasers out of our eyes 'just because fantasy'. Scythes are terrible weapons. Swords are literally the best form a melee weapon can take, and I say this as an axe enthusiast.

Greatsword > Scythes.

I've associated scythes with casters since Chrono Trigger. Cecil is my first example of a Dark Knight and he used swords.

You could argue polearms. The greatsword techniques are really more similar to polearm usage than sword usage as a greatsword is just too darned big to use like a sword (including two-handed swords, which were smaller than the greatsword)

I think that DRK lacks some slender-type greatswords with sfx more than scythe. Most of the DRK weapons, including relic, are monstrous in size. Leaving those of us who want more "realistic" proportions with only a handful of swords - all of them low level and non-glowy except i235 PoTD weapon. Something like PLDs Aettir would be nice.

Isn't Aettir just a smaller Cronos with a cross-guard?

No. Blade length / width near the crossguard have different ratio. Cronos looks like giant cinquedea while Aettir is a longsword.
What i want is a runic-coated Scofnung with a glow or Susano's greatsword but w/o that ugly guard thing.

I used the scythe glamour you could buy and honestly....

No...

Let me keep my greatsword.
