Item culling due to too many interactable items.
You'll start seeing this issue when you have more than ~40 interacable items. The system can't handle all those items at once, so it makes some of them temporarily disappear. In theory, it's supposed to prioritize the objects that you're closer to, but in practice, that obviously doesn't happen.
Yeah, I had this problem too.
It's the interaction item limit--blank partitions count and eat up a lot of these btw.
They really need to raise the limit on this before culling, I'm having this issue all over my house because of the blank partitions. I can't even make two rooms on the ground floor without losing half the walls. This issue needs to be brought up with Square, there's no reason this limit needs to be so low, and the fact that it can't account for distance or LOS visibility is ridiculous. Come on guys!
I want to have tons of food and flowers and paintings in my house, but I simply can't due to the limit. What I would like is if we could manually turn certain items "off", so they no longer are interactable. Put the wallpaper on, and select it as a non-interactable item. Want to change the wallpaper? Re-select it, change the wallpaper, de-select it.
They could add a menu like they have for painting furniture except it would let you modify the furnishing (change out a painting, flowers, wallpaper, etc). I think lamps and such should still be interactive in real time, but I think a lot of it could be hidden behind an edit mode menu.
i think she means interactabale out side of the housing options menu..meaning you could go into say indoor furnishing and select the wall to move it..but you can no longer access it outside the housing options menu to change wallpaper...removing the arrow on them when no menu is open
The issue here is not really the 40 interactive item soft-cap, but the fact that the game fails to properly prioritize which of these items are being rendered at any given moment.
We had this discussion a while back, and it's the same issue from back then that's only becoming more obvious now as more players use the newer interactive walls:
To recap, the 4.0 patch notes warned that "When 40 or more interactive furnishings are near a character, only the 40 closest furnishings will be displayed.". - and that would be fine if it actually worked that way, but it clearly isn't working that way if the interactive objects right in front of you are vanishing even when (for example) you're right at the 40 interactive item cap, with half of those items occupying a completely different floor of the house. If things were working correctly, the interactive items furthest away from you (and most likely out of sight) would be the objects that stop rendering first - not the wall/painting/whatever in front of you.
So, the limit is not a big deal unless you're trying to intentionally break it or do something abnormal. The big deal is the bug that's preventing the prioritization from working as the patch notes described.
With the added walls and wall paper not in 4.0 + pictures + the tons of other id say the limit of 40 is a huge deal that needs addressed thats 1/10th of the items in a large...if you just wall off the main floor of a large to make 3-4-5 rooms plus pictures u all ready at 40 items they need to bump this number up at lest double before stuff starts disapaering..
Since by near there mean in the same house...cause once i dropped to 45 clickable items no items disapaered
I'm not sure I agree. Walls take up a lot of space.. I don't think scenarios where you would have 40 interactive items within your field of view and close to your character are incredibly common. Can you provide a screenshot of a legitimate setup where this would be an issue?
Keep in mind that the idea is the items closest to your character (and, preferably) those within your field of view and not obscured from your line of sight are the interactive objects that are prioritized for rendering. It wouldn't matter if you have a hundred interactive items elsewhere in the house. Well.. it wouldn't matter if this were working as advertised in the patch notes.
It doesn't matter what the interactive limit is raised to if they don't fix the bug that's causing them not to be prioritized properly when rendering. Eventually someone will run into the limit and the bug will (once again) cause the expected behavior to fail. Let's try fixing the bug first before we complain that the limit is too low?
No since i was at the clickable limit well before wallpapers came out lol...The problem isn't that its the 40 closest to you show and the ones away from you are gone even if this worked..
the number is way to low specialy for a large house.. 4 retainers every crafting machine (8)..retainer bell, crystal bell, fc chest, toy chest, never ending table, orchestrion, right there is 18 every fc should have.. Now if your like me and my fc we want all minitures thats another 8 clickables (7 airships, ixion horn)...now you add on food and wall paper and picture frames..the limit is to low
Its server side to so if u have 3 people in your house they all see the same things gone..they move to other rooms they see more gone
This stuff needs to be fixed so bad. I don't even like going into our FC house anymore as everything just keeps disappearing and reappearing T_T
