4.1 retainers bringing back walls

I have to express that it was an incredibly poor decision to add walls to retainers.

4.1 hasn't been out that long and someone in my FC has already brought back 3 different walls, including the exact eatery mansion walls I spent hours gathering and crafting for. Yes, mansion walls, lots of materials to make and limited in the number of mansions as it is. The price is already down to about 200k.

In the future, SE, you should seriously reconsider adding something so difficult to make to something designed to be simple as a "send it out, come back tomorrow and with a single click collect some easy rewards" content.

Considering how often those types of walls sell to begin with the market will be flooded at this point indefinitely, even if the current rate of procurement were reduced. And I would say in the very least the amount of materials needed to make such walls should be cut drastically. There is no point in even doing those projects anymore, as even at several million on the MB (extremely generous), it's still cheaper to buy than to make.

They did the exact same thing when they first added quick ventures. I wouldn't expect them to change it. Retainers were bringing back new items before anyone could even get the mats (from raiding or gardening).

The funny thing is at least the small house walls aren't even considered "rare" so that's why they are being flooded on the MB now. Even funnier is every server will soon have more house walls on the MB than total houses to use them on. You'll basically be able to very cheaply rotate between house walls to mix is up now.

Well it required little to no effort just add items to the quick venture pool, rather than dream up and implement an alternative to obtaining certain items that are gated behind FC housing.

The devs will go the "zero-effort" route every time, even if it means saturating the market.

Crafters and sellers are really second class citizens, compared to their precious raiders and PVP players.

Yup... My retainer brought back Small Outfitter's Walls a few (3? 4?) days back. The selling price had been sitting at a stable 6-10 million for almost a year (I could see up to last November on the history page), being at 9 when I got it. It has since then already dropped down to 1.5 million, while the number of walls on sale has shot up from 4 to 25 (really? did that many people get this items specifically in that short a time? @.@). Now, for me whatever gil I get out of it is just free money so I can't really complain, but I do feel bad for the people who actually crafted those things to sell. :(

Gotta admit, OP is correct. I have gotten 2 medium trade walls that started @ 15 mil when I got them and are now down to 6, and neither sold because 6 others have gottem them too. Also got a chocobo mansion all that started @ 50 million and is now down to 15, and hasn't sold either.

Oh so thats why my just finished moogle wall is worthless now... >_>

If they're going to give things away like candy, at least make it so it can be desynthed.

Seriously, there are actual people in charge of managing the economy of this game, correct? This is not the first time they've shown a complete and total disregard to sellers by undermining the selling price of certain items. Are they apathetic or just nonexistent?

Just like the materials obtained from "airship ventures" (or whatever it's called), no one needs these items at the frequency that they are being given out.

How about giving out something people would actually want or need. Players don't need more useless garbage to clutter up the marketboard. At least fish can be desynthed into shards and crystals, so there's always going to be some demand for those. Demand for housing items dries up as soon as everyone has their house done and decorated. Doesn't stop quick ventures from producing more and more.

Just wait a couple weeks. Soon enough you'll be able to buy a wall from the gil you make off of the sale of the fish.

Just standard Quick Ventures. Don't even need to have high enough stats to remove the warning about rare items; I've had two walls already (the first was the first ever sold on my server so I made bank, but nobody is ever going to buy the second).

Well I'm yet to see this. I keep getting fish and dungeon gear lol

HAHA. PVP players lumped in with raiders. Have a look at the PVP forum. We've been asking for dev input and giving them suggestions on how to fix this mess of a ranked and frontline system for YEARS without so much as a peep. The thread about the chat restriction in the feast has become one of the longest-running threads in this entire forum, brimming with suggestions and feedback, only to hear nothing but "keep up the suggestions!" Why bother if nothing is going to come of it?

But..maybe this is foolish of me. I have hope. The hardcore raiders just got something to chew on for a time. PVP update is coming in 4.15 and that's when the next season of the Feast ends. I have hope that they are listening and working on the issues. Whether or not our desires are going to get lost in translation or be dismissed entirely is another thing.

Now back on topic. My lovely retainers have tanked the "Sky Rat" and "Sky Pirate" market, as well as the market for walls.

I'm hoping that we'll get new airship ventures soon with new stuff to find (possibly in Eureka), or even submarines or something an FC can work on together.

And I keep hoping for other uses for all this chimera hide, potter's stone and Vivianite I keep collecting.

Same, same, same. Walls for days. Sky Rat for days.

I think crafting walls was intended to be not a big deal because it's an FC project, so a large amount of people would each make a small contribution. In reality it's usually just one person doing all the work rather than a collaboration, so it's a big deal for one person to gather or buy that huge amount of materials by themselves, and then they are forced to rope people in just for the progression cutscene part. I'm trying to imagine what true craft or gather party content would look like. Maybe they send a light party out to a designated area and you search for some kind of treasure like a hot or cold game, a message after you deplete a mode telling you if you sense something nearby or not. Once discovered some special nodes pop on everyone's map and you meet there to gather some unique item until a progress bar fills and mission complete. Something simple. Then you're all rewarded a large quantity of crafting mats, the kind that are needed for FC projects.

We usually manage to get at least 4 or 5 people gathering for our projects and our members are very generous with the materials you get from the GC but even, then the walls are a huge investment of time and GC Seals. I'm shocked retainers are bringing these items back (I don't bother with the quick ventures).

There is so little content for Free Companies to do together and this just undermines it. I really feel that the crafted walls should remain FC exclusive.

Battle retainers or gatherering?

I just got the moogle cottage house thingy.

I'm happy for you Mature, but that's kind of depressing at the same time. We made a Moogle wall to sell when we wanted to raise funds for our FC, I remember another one going up on the market a few days later at considerably less than the cost of the materials. We couldn't understand it at the time, now it makes sense; if it only cost the seller a venture, they were making a handsome profit on their investment.

If the devs want FC Crafting to continue, they definitely need to take FC Crafting projects off the venture loot list.
Until that happens (which it probably won't), I guess I'll just have to make sure any of our members wanting a house-wall have checked the MB first, as it may be a much cheaper option for them.

My gathering retainers have brought me two walls and one roof this week from quick ventures. What they bring seems to go in cycles.

My server has seen most of the housing walls that retainers can bring back drop below 100k now no matter the size. Medium Eatery Walls hit a low of 10k. LARGE Outfitter's walls hit as low as 33k. Moogle house walls are even down around 100k.

This is not the solution most people had in mind when asking for changes to FC workshop projects needing 3 people to sit around doing nothing.
