Toggle Chocobo Music On/Off

I love having my music on and listening to the field tracks while gathering, turning in locals, whatever!

However, since most of the time I'm on choco-back getting to where I need to go, I can't enjoy them.

Can we please have a option to toggle this music on/off? Thank you!

FFXI did it right--for about the first three or four minutes on a chocobo, you got the chocobo music. Then it faded back to the field theme.

Yeah, I think that worked for FFXI pretty well, but I don't think it will for XIV. Reason being of how freely we can mount/dismount and how often we do so. Would be nice to straight have a toggle on/off option.

Agreed, I voiced the same wish of being able to turn off chocobo music to my linkshell mates today, and they all agreed.

I would like to add to the OP that it shouldn't be restricted to only Chocobo Music!

I feel there should be a toggle for Chocobo Music, Area Music, and Battle Music.

If Battle Music is on it plays during Battle.
If Battle Music is off Area Music plays in it's place.

If Chocobo music is on it plays while on Chocobo.
If Chocobo Music is off, area music plays in it's place unless Area Music is off, then nothing plays.

If Area music is on and the rest is off, only area music plays always.
If Area music is on or off and any of the others are on the others will play at their given time.

EDIT: Add crafting music toggle too!

I like Conradus's FFXI mention where first 3 minutes was choco music then it faded back. I would totally ride chocoback more often if this was implemented!

While we are at it can we get the crafting music toggled as well. Shit drives me bonkers.

but there are a lot of times you are not on your chocobo for three minutes so it defeats the purpose. When people gather, they are only on their chocobo for a short time as they are going to the next node.

This worked with FFXI because riding on a chocobo was more restrictive. You couldn't call them from anywhere in the field at any given moment. Chocobo whistles were very limited as well.

Yes, please! I want to hear the area music while choco-ing in the wilderness, the chocobo theme gets annoying really fast.

I really like the chocobo music as well. And I didn't mind it playing all the time until last week, when I ran to Mor Dhona for the first time since getting my bird.

As soon as I zoned into Mor Dhona, something felt out of place. It wasn't the foreboding, mysterious place it usually is, because the background music was just too happy and cheerful. It's hard to feel any kind of dread listening to music like that ;)

I know that delivering a strong sense of place to the player is very important to sound designer Soken as well as the rest of the team. So I'd like to make a little suggestion, if I could: In 2.0, they might want to consider having area music override mount music for certain high-level or rarely-traversed areas.

Of course, the mount music really adds to the playing experience as well. But when in possession of a mount, most players will choose to ride rather than walk. That's how people will be traversing all the new zones that are being created for 2.0. So when creating each zone, it might be a good idea to consider whether the mount music is compatible with the feel of the zone, and if not, to what extent the atmosphere suffers as a result. If the answer is "a lot", why not have the zone music play instead of the mount music for that specific area?

Would you kindly stop humming it? It's driving me up the wall.

A bonus point for you if you got the Bioshock reference.

Just to be sure - allow us to choose between either using the personal, rental, or no music. Of course, the ability to toggle between the personal and rental should only be available once you unlocked the personal chocobo. I don't like the personal chocobo music, but I absolutely love the rental one.

I wouldn't mind the personal chocobo theme if it wasn't so obnoxiously loud in comparison to all the other music.

Glad to hear about a toggle. Can they maybe add an option to have it play for a bit but auto-fade after a single loop of the song? That way I can still hear it when i want to, but on longer rides I'll have the chance to hear the zone music as well. I'd also like the ability to switch, or randomize, which chocobo music I hear--I got my personal chocobo the day they were available so I've barely heard the rental choco music at all.

I also think Rane's idea is a decent one, to have certain zones totally override the mount music for atmospheric reasons. It'll give kind of a "Not even your giant chicken can't protect you now" vibe =P.

Again, I'll have to reiterate, chocobos in this game would not work well with that instance. It isn't unlikely to have long chocobo rides, but with a mount you can call and dismount freely, this is not a desirable option. However, It would be if it were like this in it's standard form. Otherwise, I still say a toggle would work best in every other instance.

Aside from a toggle button I'd even prefer a more mellow chocobo tune. Bringing up FFXI the chocobo tune was mellow and made riding soothing and in FFXIV the chocobo tune sounds out of place like it should be playing in the theme park and not everyday travel. >_> may..be.. we could replace the current chocobo music with FFXI's? >_< please don't hit me!

My only complaint is the fact the music is darn loud, compared to all the other songs, I usually have to turn down my speakers, in turn that makes it hard to hear anything else.
(I know I'm not the only one, as all my RL friends have this problem, my BF, and my LS mates.)

Oh, perfect, I was thinking about creating a similar thread a few days ago. But then laziness struck.

Anyway, I'm happy to hear that a toggle option is in the works. The chocobo music is great, but the upbeat tune just isn't made for all places or situations.

i did not know. I have not played II, and recently begun and backlogged I. looking forward to it ^^

in the mean time, /insert headphones and play techno pop chocobo theme while on choco.

ps. field music during choco mount is definetly a plus

Honestly I feel the same as some others feel about the choco theme music. It just pulls a bad cord. Not that its terrible by any means, its just not something that i want to listen to constantly... However I do love the Gobbue music. Would be nice to be able to either switch the choco music to that or just give the choco music a more softer theme. Possible have 2 types, one for when you are just going on an adventure and another to choose from when you are farming/gathering because you are constantly on and off it.
