I believe they fished by spamming the server button and therefore not having to exit out of the launcher. But most of the ones who got in fast might as well have a really fast connection. :/
I clicked in the second the server launched, but since i hail from Balmung-hell i was nr. 1750 in queue, so by the time i got in everything was gone on the entire server.
I read a comment yesterday that suggested doing that, so that’s what I did. I also read that PS4 users were basically screwed so I didn’t even have hope. When I logged in I was 114 in queue and barely managed to buy plot 8 for my FC, 2 other players came up to my plot about 10-15 seconds after I relocated my FC. It was close and I got very lucky.
well, as for the login I just got lucky I guess...
As for the actual ingame loading, I logued out in ruby sea, near the kugane entrace knowing everyone will be in the ferry skipper NPC so my game can load faster. So all I have to do is to go to one loading screen to kugane. It is worse? no its not because the game prioritize logued players over logging players to enter an area, so I got into kugane in no time, got into the ferry skippe, choose m ward and bought the house.
If there was a queue, then that means there were people ahead of you in the queue. The people first in the queue got in first and were able to purchase plots before they ran out.
As to how they ended up first in the queue - partly luck, and partly by logging in a few seconds ahead of others.
Combination of luck, good fibre internet, geography and what I personally did.....load my game on to a RamDisk. I cannot really control the luck or geography but I made sure my fiber internet was set up and my Ramdisk + a 5.2ghz CPU would outload even people with SSDs.
I had a small house in the lavender beds and I wasn't even planning on getting housing in Shirogane, but I am on at the time server opens anyway, so after clicking too fast to get into my server and having to relog again, I then got 450 in que, I then ported over to the housing zone (logged off at my house in lavender beds), saw that district 6 still had a few lots open, and snagged plot 2. If I was still on Gilgamesh I wouldn't of gotten any plots, so happy to be on a medium sized server. I love my new cottage :)
Someone had to be first in the queue
I have a PS4 and a PC. I specifically upgraded my PC to Stormblood to use it to log it. It loads faster and the check server status is much quicker. I still had a queue of about 200 and when i arrived all the 30/60 plots were gone but still managed to get plot 46 which was one I wanted as an alternate.
i had the hope of getting 30/60, 16/46, 8/38 or 22/52 and had practiced my runs and teleport locations a lot before maintenance so when i spawned in Kugane I knew exactly what i wanted to do. I got lucky given all the plots were sold in about 20 minutes. Being a designated server sure changed the housing situation on Siren where plots would sit for a couple days before they would sellout.
I think I might say how I got lucky with it from my personal View.
During the last Minutes my Friends and I kind of spammed the Server Button (for me it was just once within a minute) and once it was up it also took a bit till the Log In Button but came within a few Seconds.
Now comes to the Login Queue Part: Even if we all logged in at like the same time only one friend and I got happy with just a 100 queue. The others already got up to 1000. That was purely Luck actually. I can tell that I am european playing on a North American Server. So my Connection is not the best. Therefore I can say that this was mainly pure Luck.
When you have hundreds or even thousands trying to all log in at the same time becoming the lucky first few is lottery. Even players with better connections have to compete with one another.
To secure a good place I paid almost twice. First purchase was anything was free, anything, just to have at least one plot. Then tried to get the place I like and when found it, purchased using relocation. Small, obviously, because anything medium or large was gone in first 15s of the game.
Only luck for in game queue + SSD
SSD + PS4. Entered my login details but did not press the login button until the exact time of maintenance end because if you enter the PS4 launcher before maintenance ends you have to close it and reopen, which is a waste of time. I was on my voice chat with my PC-using friends and we had spent the entire previous evening preparing and getting used to the run with every possible speed optimisation; their Play button didn't go live instantly so I risked a login right after the time passed and bam, green button. Clicked in, clicked past a message saying my character data wouldn't load and landed 279th in my queue. My friends had to reload their launchers because they still showed maintenance ongoing until I screamed at them, so they were slightly behind, which was a bit annoying as they had the money and we'd been planning to use me as a backup for my wife to teleport to! I'd originally assumed I'd be slowest on PS4.
Still missed out on every single 30/60 plot to those higher up in the queue, but I managed to jog to several other unclaimed mansions which ended up claimed before my wife logged in with our FC cash and we got one in an unpopular subdivision. It was bloodthirsty.
We all had to take the day off work and got about two hours of sleep in total, but it was worth it. Hope those on more crowded servers get some more housing added ASAP.
My FC leader and I were up, trying to log in at the same time. He was meant to get a medium for the FC, and I wanted a small personal right next to it. I got lucky and only hit a 200 queue, but I also have a fast connection/good gaming PC. He wasn't so lucky, and got hit with a 1500+ queue even though he logged in at the same moment as I did. It was all about luck, and speed of hardware/connection.
I got logged in instantly the moment the servers came up, but then got a lobby connection error and by the time I'd relogged was 1000 in queue. Luckily I managed to snag a small, subdivisions seemed to take noticeably longer to sell out thankfully.
I don't have a SSD, but loaded in (albeit in a weird, glitchy way) pretty fast. Was 24th in queue for all of 15 seconds. So yeah, luck...with a fair dose of spamming the launcher to get in for quite some time.
No idea. I actually got disconnected trying to connect to data center, had to relaunch the entire game, then got stuck in a queue trying to connect to my server. Yet I still got a small lot.
Only thing I can come up with that I did right was that I logged off in Shirogane. I didn't have the slow log in to Kugane like everyone else I know. When I saw the lot I wanted was already taken, I quickly sprinted to the ferry, checked the wards. I saw a ward where the one I wanted was available. And this is where my having logged off in Shirogane really paid off, because the transition from one ward to another was near instantaneous. I then mounted, quickly rode to my lot, and got it. I not only got one, I got the exact small lot I was aiming for.
Next time I checked, maybe 15-20 minutes later, everything was taken.
I had the same log in issues as everyone else. I'm on PS4. I didn't use any special tools. I didn't spam the server. The only thing I can come up with is that I made a smart decision to log off in Shirogane, because it lessened my load time, first when I logged in, then again when I had to change wards.
I got lucky, I won't pretend otherwise. Last night at around 2:57 am there is a discord from pug savage say server it up so I tried logging in right away but it was a false alarm. Instead of exiting, i went to the world and then back to menu and i see the green button at around 2:58-59. I log in, queue of 400. I ran and ran and manage to secure estate transfer house 60 for my fc and I look around and manage to transfer my small to medium at house 1. It was not easy as after I finish my fc estate transfer most of the good large and medium are gone already, it was 3:01 when I purchase the fc house. My fc original plan was to have 4-5 people that have enough gil (45m) all log in and try our best for the prime estate at different ward. I was the only one who get in because of the false alarm as that give me 30 second to 1 minute advanatge to the people who try logging in at 3:00 am.
I also have a pretty good pc and SSD installed
