I just can’t do it. I’ve done it 12 times, and it’s too difficult. My eyes keep getting all the people mixed up, and I can’t deflect. I fear I won’t ever get past this msq.

wait...wat
Why aren’t you wearing prescription lenses?
While I'm sure there are different forms of dyslexia, I'm not sure why it is causing you problems with this instance; you only use Deflect on the blue orbs. I'm not really sure why this is so hard unless you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what you need to use the duty skill on (which is possible).
Does turning npc name plates off help?
You don't need to look at NPC names, at all, not even once, as soon as you see a tether up you go up to the orbs and use deflect, repeat as more orbs pop up, you could turn off all nameplates if you want and you can still clear it. Remember you can sprint as well.
why does this forum have a "ffxiv is anti-dyslexic" every couple days?
your problem doesn't even make sense you just go to the blue balls and use the skill, who they are tethered to doesn't matter in the least. Don't even have to look at them
I find dyslexic people have a hard time playing RPG's period.
Seriously...lol. Dyslexia prevents you from doing content that has no reading involved?
.....Okayyy..?
It might be that the OP wasn't expecting a Missile Command action-style game to be part of the main story quest. If he has a disability, I can see it being overwhelming towards the end.
I thought the OP was quitting because of housing salt?
im tired of people claiming discrimination.. Have some confidence in yourself. Instead of changing others how about we change ourselves! You're not weak! You are strong! Step up to the challenge and overcome it! Pick yourself up and try again! I recently played ff9 and must have been defeated in the card game section of the story 20 times because I didnt take the time to learn the game or even get cards. Got super frustrated and questioned why SE would force you to play the card game to advance the story lol. But I hunkered down and kept trying and now im pretty good at the game :)
As someone with dyslexia I find all these topics along this lines somewhat laughable (and yes I understand everyon with it is different etc) but honestly guys please don't use it as an excuse for everything. I have days playing this game where I am better than other days - like most people who play this game as a whole. I make mistakes and screw up but you just go "oh well" and go again.
Try your instance again and don't give up! You can do it :D! I personally didn't worry about attacking much when the bubbles/orbs spawned. Just run to them and use the deflect. The NPC will also help with some of them.
Remember its a game and try to have fun and not get frustrated. You will beat it!
I'm going to go out on a limb and state that a significant portion of FFXIV's community likely have some sort of mental and/or physical disability that affects their day to day lives. That doesn't mean that the developers have to bend over backwards to accommodate absolutely everybody at each possible turn. It would be a ridiculously unfair amount of work for them.
Ive seen a man without arms play MCH better than most people using a PS4 controller with his feet.
The leader of an fc I used to be in was 85% blind and cleared coil T9 by looking at his screen sideways.
A member of my static had ME/cvs and used his precious little energy to be a really good micromanaging SCH.
None of them complained about the game. They had to work harder than most people but they succeeded. So expect little sympathy from me.
Yep, I have autism. It does make the "Multiplayer" aspect of the game a lot more challenging. But I just roll with the challenge and go for it. I don't simply give up.
I'm not the greatest at the game mechanically, but that isn't because of my disability (though potentially my Dyspraxia and thus lack of co-ordination may make it more difficult), it's just because I'm garbage.
THAT BEING SAID: I won't deny certain disabilities can make the game harder for someone. But in this case, I don't think Dyslexia would affect this instance. You're not looking for names. You're trying to stop ALL tethers hitting, if even a SINGLE one hits their mark, game over. So I don't see how Dyslexia could affect that. Maybe someone could enlighten me?
