How to solve housing

Allow to properly buy and sell houses from the MB. I'm sure a lot of people get bored of having a house eventually and want to sell it, the only reason most people keep it is because they know they'll have a hard time getting another one.

This is a terrible suggestion because it encourages scalping.

how solver housing?
easy, was said countless time:

House reserved to FC Only! appartement get 2 other size for people only.... problem solved!

without forget 1 house owned per account will have solved a lot of trouble, without forget an absolut rule, you purchase a house for resell it, you are banned definitivly.

easy no?

Or just have all houses on a one week auction and highest bidder wins it. They may need to raise the gil cap for this though, I know a lot of people who are capped.

Yes it will price a lot of people out, but even the highest prices this time were ridiculously cheap.

So what? This happens already with the other items in the MB.

Another way to solve it is get rid of neighborhoods and just make the system instanced. Many other MMOs do this just fine. As it stands right now, there is only 2,880 plots per server. That's BS for many servers.

How to solve housing ?

EASY.

Do away with the damn Wards, and put instanced housing in.
Take a hint from PSO2, EVERY PLAYER had a free small appartement, that could be upgraded to a huge 3 room flat, could even choose what exterior view you wanted.

And its a BEEPing free to play game. so, no offense, but wards are nice and dandy, but useless in a game with a huge playerbase.

That's a bad comparison because the supply/demand is completely different. Items are infinite.

1 house per account across all servers,
1 FC house.
Large houses for FC only.
add housing servers every patch till demand isn't high. If housing doesn't sell out in 1 day you have reach supply and demand, only add more housing to servers that aren't sold out.

I think instead they should turn the housing zone into a PvP area.... gotta fight your way to the placard!

Then make the act of claiming a house like capturing a area in pvp. You have to hold it while a timer ticks down. If someone defeats you and/or your group before the timer ticks down, then you lose the claim, etc.

That way all the people saying their fc should get a better chance would actually get a better chance without it seeming like getting special treatment. Also! PvP would get more popular because people would want to practice for the next housing ward coming out to claim their prize... :p

I don't even PvP so this wouldn't help me out...but thought this would be an interesting idea lol...

Putting houses on the market board would just put them out of EVERYONE's range because you wouldn't be competing with real players. You'd be competing with RMT bots so yea, SE isn't going to do that... to heck with those bot. The houses would be in the multi-billions so that the RMT bots could sell them for real cash...

Might not be the best solution, because people could take advantage to make profit yeah, but you guys wouldn't want it over what we have now?

Except the neighborhoods are what make FFXIV's housing system stand out. Who cares how cool your house is when it exists in a pocket dimension that only you and your close friends know about? How does that encourage a sense of community?

The only way this is ever going to get fixed is if we move to all instanced housing. But we're never going to do that so long as certain players continue to have a hard-on for living in a superfluous neighborhood where no on actually gives a shit about the person next door.

And this is as someone who's owned house since the last ward addition in HW.

The only way to fix the housing problem is make them instanced.

How many times has a stranger commented on your house?

There is instanced housing already... It's called apartments?

I mean really, they are essentially the mog houses from FFXI.... When I looked 30min after the servers were finally letting me log in and all the houses were gone, there were still tons of apartments. They were barely touched.

I'm not saying I don't get what you mean. You mean instanced housing like what other games like Rift have I assume. I think that would be fun and I don't say it is a bad idea. I just think the devs already gave us their answer when they released apartments however.
