An in-game Memory Log

I've just suggested this in-game, but I will post my suggestion here as well. I don't know if anyone has suggested this before, so my apologies if so.

Can you please add a Memory Log under the "Log"-tab? A place where a person can write important information they want to remember while playing? It can have the same design as the other logs/journal, where you can add chapters and pages as you see fit for remembering things without having to alt+tab or have 2 screens.

It will be nice for crafters, gatherers, raiders, lvlers, basically everyone :) I think people will love this idea. They have a similar thing in Aion, but you can make it look very original the way I just described :) The Memory Log also needs to have a save ability so you can relog without losing information. Maybe even also be able to have item links, location links etc inside this log.

Some people I have talked to about this idea LOVES it.

Please think about it.

EDIT: It could even be named Diary, Memoirs, Annals. There are many names, some better than others, that you could use to make it fit perfectly into the game. It doesn't even have to be under the "Log"-tab. It can also be under the "Character"-tab, seeing it's a notebook for the character.

A sidequest for it would be really good as well. Before you do the quest, the name of it will be grayed out, and it could have a really nice story to it. An NPC f.ex has a quest, and the quest could f.ex be called something like: Annals of a new Era, or Memoirs of a new Era, or Once Upon a Time. Endless possibilities.

I would really appreciate that! would make things sooo much simpler :D

This would be super handy, particularly with crafting and gathering. I use an actual notebook at this point but yeah, love this.

I would love this. I use an actual notebook (or my phone if it is something quick) right now, but I would make -extensive- use of an in-game notepad.

An in game notepad is a great idea!

Great idea San! If they also implemented an option to access recipes and create checklists with type of ingredients and amount required would be super handy for all crafters and gatherers out there!

You could just use /echo or /e and keep a tab dedicated to just that.

Personally i use Google Drive if i need to keep track of important information in regards to, (relic) progression, Inventory for crafting recipes, mechanics, etc. I'll use Google Docs if i want to write something out and Google Sheets if i want to make a checklist of some sorts. Since I can log into Google Drive on both my Desktop as well as my Smartphone or tablet, i always have my notes/checklists at hand.

Indeed there are many ways to go about it, but why you need to use external tools, when this is feasible to make and should have been part of the game anyway. I also find that a more elaborate search machine should have been implemented to the logs themselves. e.g. searching for recipes by level, equip class etc.

This would be so useful! Sometimes I teleport somewhere just to forget what I went there for.

You can use a macro slot for it.
Use /echo "text" if you don't want everyone to be able to read it

+1 neat idea, "adventure journal"! I know I'd love to remember certain things between logins and not have to alt -tab to go check it.

Better have a higher character limit than the forums do.

Adventure Journal was an awesome name for it :D But we got the Journal already for quests, so maybe a bit confusion then, dunno. I just know I hate alt tabbing all the time to see if I remember correctly, or when I have forgot something. When other games have managed to make a log like this, it shouldn't be hard for SE to fix one too :) Imho it should have been in the game from the start :)

I use that too on certain things, because i don't have other options, but got to tab out of the game for it all the time. This way you can have certain things saved in-game and no need to alt tab for everything :)

That's just too messy. I don't wanna use up macro slots for things to remember. Plus you can only write so much inside a macro before you got to create a new one.

I've been desperately trying to reduce the amounts of paper I use for my notes. I scribble on old notebooks and the back of calendar sheets to spare some trees but it piles up! I got a new phone to use as a notebook instead and it's doing a nice job so far (except for boss strats, the screen's too small to look at on the fly) but an in-game notebook would be a much smoother option!

It's a good idea. I see how this would be useful. Personally I do use a notebook for my gathering activities, how well something has sold in market board, pieces of gear I want to upgrade with "what tomes" and many other stuff.

I use a dedicated solo linkshell for active notes. For saved notes I use macro slots, you can write anything there.

We shouldn't need to use linkshells or macros for this. It should be easy to implement some kind of notebook in the game. Problem with macro's is that you can only type 15 lines. I dunno, macro's weren't meant to be used for that, but it can be ofc, I understand that, desperate times, desperate needs, and all that :P

I usually alt-tab out to keep a separate file of stuff, but an in-game notepad would be absolutely amazing.

It would just be a really nice feature if they add it, I know I will be using it a LOT :)

This is what I currently do, but it isn't persistent if you need to log out or get 90ked.

Need more comments/likes/additional suggestions on this post so SE can see that this is something that the FF community would like to see in-game :)
