Materia Removal Option in 4.1

I honestly like the idea of us removing materia from our gear. 100% on I-IV, 80% on V, and 40% on VI. Kinda a good way on not only saving some gil, but also redoing the melding if you make a mistake, and it could actually be a useful thing since we lose materia everytime we upgrade our gear with upgrade items, though we still might lose em if we fail the removal. What are your thoughts on that?

It should have been something added in game long ago. Materia aren't supposed to be extra stats for end game player, but a way to personnalize your stats at all. It shouldn't be as expensive as it is, but it's getting easier to get them unlike pre-4.0. Crafter and Gatherer are still left out of it tho.

But what will us non crafters sell now?
What will become of clusters now?
What will become of hunting?
What will become of cenutrio seals...

:x I won't ever need to farm for materia now and the market for it will be completely gone.

It's not hard to get most materia. The only ones that are a bit more annoying to get are gathering/crafting ones.

Honestly, it's not going to hurt the market much at all. It just gives the opportunity for people to re-use materia but here's the thing.

DOH with the best gear setup now needs to replace their crafted gear with new crafted gear. So you made the better gear and now you are removing the materia from the old gear. Think about it for a moment. You honestly aren't gaining much from it while yes the opportunity to regain V and VI is there, there is just as much a chance that they will outright break. Then you also have all the breaks that occur as you try to overmeld. So sure you get that 1 materia back that was your 30th attempt in getting it into slot 5.

The concept also encourages user to meld tier VI and gives them less excuses to not meld gear(There are still people who have absolutely no materia in gear, not even tier V) so the incentive to allow players to pull out materia is a step in the right direction to push people to meld materia into their gear.

Materia value comes because it's constantly in need of replacement. If it was renewable the value would just plummet. It's easy enough to get so there's no real benefit of having this feature.

We should be able to remove materia with a 100% success rate in my opinion and just add a higher cost per tier. However, they would also have to make sure that the materia you remove can't suddenly be put on the market board.

I considered the fact it could harm the market on materia, but then I re-thought it. Between the unlimited clusters available in the leveling roulette, the many clusters you can get from hunts, the ability to buy G6's with hunt marks on top of that, along with the fact that the 24 man will probably give a cluster as well since the last 24mans did? The value is only going to keep going down anyway. Oh and also the potential for clusters from WT as well though that's obviously subject to much more RNG.

This is beyond stupid. Why do they keep ruining every income on the market?? Its like the game can't have any feature that doesn't hold a hand. People need to realize that when they are melding they are using up that materia and won't get it back. Whats so hard about that???

get a crafter and gather up if your that worryed about losing things to sell. this should have been implemented from the start. stop complaining : oh i cant sell this or that because i no longer have the market for it. really if thats all you rely on in the first place its kinda sad. run maps, do old dungeons sell the 50below gear green gear is sell-able, do hunts sell other things, sell soil from poetics, they give you soo many options as a casual player to make money and you rely on just 1 thing and thats sad.

First off I do have most of my crafters up and both (important) gatherers up. And second don't tell me what I can't focus on for trying to make an income, this game already sucks when trying to sell things. This is hand holding to the finest and once again making a feature for the lazy.

I meant the part where you burnt the most gil from melding is over melds, even if you have 100% unmelding rate those 5 materia aren't going to save you much gil unless you're really, really lucky. If anything I just see this as a QoL change in case you derped and meld say, a PIE materia into the 4th slot after near hundreds of failure to get there, having the option to unmeld just a single slot will be a godsend. Of course DoH/L is slightly different since the tier VI materia are a lot more expensive, but chances are if you're going to make proper usage of them, you will probably have sufficient gil to provide enough for the guarantee slots either way.

then maybe its time for you to change servers. i dont see it as hand holding in the slightest, your basically complaining like some top tier raider when they complain that casuals ruin their game. many games already have this function and its about time that this game had it to. I'm not telling you WHAT to sell. BUT im saying YOUR being incredibly LAZY and SAD about what your selling. i made 13mil recently selling old dungeon crap. TRY IT OUT. geezus. all i see is complaints about how oh the game is ruining this or that for me. well guess what buttercup it was asked for by the majority of people and if you want to get offended about it get offended about it. But you should try to sell other crap like everyone else who has a hard server to sell on. mine is dominated by crafters do you see me yelling oh boo woo make it easyer for me to sell this or this. meh. and yea this reply might seem offensive but you know what if you cant take advice oh well.

Because it shouldn't be something reserved to people with money or farm time. It should stay a simple way of personnalizing our gameplay. People just took benefit of how painfully awful it was to get materias since the beginning of the game to make money on the back of others; if it was the personnalizing option it is becoming now since the beginning, people wouldn't complain. You just need to find another way to make money. It's not like I can make 1M by fishing 30min with a basic fishing gear.

Ive let it sink in a bit and thought hard about it. Its really not that big of deal now. It was just the initial shock that another income source for many was taken away is all. I will move on like many others to new and exciting incomes! :)

I doubt it will have too much an impact on the market. Any crafter knows all too well how much 80% can troll you. 40% may as well be zero when RNG decides to have fun at your expense. If anything, grade IV and V will plummet but they mostly have anyway.

Might encourage people to put at least some IVs into their stuff since they can just remove it when they replace the gear later instead of it being completely empty. Could throw them on leveling gear without feeling awful 30 minutes later when you level and replace the gear anyways. Removing them over and over would be kind of a hassle though.

Im ok with the materia removal in the upcoming patch - it will make materia worthless - but thats ok I guess. I hope that they continue to inflate materia so that we can start actually making builds with some meaningful variance.

This just encourages materia use at all levels - even leveling gear. And overmelding.

Yes, prices will plummet, but that's one less thing you have to afford as well.

To be fair, the PvE materia VI's weren't hard to obtain to begin with since clusters drop pretty often from hunts. That and getting Centurio seals has been really easy.

Getting centurio seals will be even easier since they are removing allied seals, that aside this is a welcome changed and something I did not see coming but it'll be of great help when I spiritbond here and there

Heh, materia prices drop is good thing. If anything it will make craftable/ornate gear worth more as it should be. Make everything cheap kills RMTs.

Depends on your server but mine with people not waiting I have better things to do than running after hunt mobs.

I think being able to remove materia from gear without destroying it is long overdue. bravo SE.

And yet you can still gain a materia every couple days through your daily marks. (HW and SB)

Removing one forbidden materia slot after you've failed 100 times and spent millions seems redundant but a nice QoL. I would much rather have the RNG reduced by making the last slot 10% with the highest current tier instead of 3-5% but its workable.
