This is why i hate gathering with botanist

I been trying for the past hour to get faerie apples so I can level my culinarian...

So far I gotten 3 stacks of maple saps..1 stack of maple logs...and around 30~ faerie apples...

Why are those apples so damn hard to get?!?!?

There's a camp in La Noscea (I think Bloodshore?) where poachers give a bunch of faerie apples.

Monkeys by Tam Tara are L20 and drop em, too. And mint, so you can double your farming efforts ^^

I saw your post on the CUL forum as well. Where are you trying to farm them and where are you striking the tree? Also, what level is your BTN.

My botanist is 25 just enough to get plenty of tries form the trees near Emerald Moss which should be giving a lot of apples...

I hit the tree on the apples spot which is +2 on the line

What are the mints for by the way? XD

If you fight Level 47-50 pirates on the beaches just north of Bald Knoll they drop lots of Faerie apples. It's a great place to grind too as they drop gil and Ala Mhigan Mustard. I see you have Lancer at 50 so you shouldn't have a problem, but you might want to get a party with one of your lower level classes around 45 and grind there instead.

You should be high enough rank to get apples (and you are doing everything right). They are however, one of the harder items to get to drop. So upping the gears might help (if you aren't wearing good gathering gears already). Also, maybe try some of the mobs people have suggested as you might be able to gather more apples quicker with your rank 50 DOW's than running back and forth chopping trees with your lower level BTN.

Also, if you have the leves to burn, do CUL leves. These help you to rank at an okay pace without having to farm a lot of mats. (CUL is very mat heavy atm...and worse, less people sell them). If you have FSH ranked (or a FSH friend), grinding on fish might be easier/better depending on how fast you want to rank CUL. (I ranked cooking food for sale/ls friends and really never did the fish thing, but others seemed to level quickly that way.)

Yeah I got to my rank 36 culinarian thanks to having FSH at more or less the same rank...was leveling them together xD but at this point is hard to find a good fish to get decent experience for my culinarian and apple juice gives me a nice 500~ or more depending on the +% for quality

Yeah, humblehearth is great for them. Also, invest in raising your INT for BTN rather than your STR. INT increases your yield. Not only for the amount you gain in one success, but the amount of times you get the item you're gathering for.

I've tested High STR vs High INT on Halatali's Rosewood logs. STR seems to increase the area in which your strikes are a success and INT increases the yield and the chance of gaining the item you're aiming for. High amounts of INT showed a significant amount of Logs gained with INT than Rosewood Branches when using high STR.

Maybe this will help.

i just got my btn to 50 today and noticed if u want a specific mat u gotta farm it a lvl above or below the suggested node. for example oak logs. u get em at treespeak grade 5 but u get more if u log em at humblehearth which is grade 4. see what im trying to convey here? so when i need oak logs i go to grade 4 instead of grade 5. same with other things. and like miner. suggested grade for silver ore is grade 4 in humblehearth but u get more if u mine at treespeak grade 5.

He have only the choice between emerald moos with BTN or farming them with a battle class.

What a load of hogwash.. I just got 3 stacks in about 30 minutes at humblehearth yesterday.

yeah, there always seems to be an alternative to gathering certain items. i.e. I don't have the level to fish up red coral, but there are enemies that will drop them, like the lurkers in Sphoshae.
