[dev ####]Guild mark use.

Since Devs are talking about what to do with marks, they should keep them in game and convert them into the same way used in 11. Let us buy Job-specific gear, use to buy scrolls to increase exp just like the GC ones, and so on. Once housing comes out can add in stuff for house. To earn marks make the guild task board item give marks over gil. Sadly though most of us all have 100ks worth of marks so SE would need to find a fair amount to take off each guild so players don’t just buy everything from get go.

Also for battle guild marks. had boards there that daily tell you to kill cretin mobs for marks. Marks from combat jobs could be used for housing items, maybe for foods/useable items that enhances some skills, job relayed emotes, and stuff along the lines of that.

looking at their use in 11 is kinda hard to do since they werent taken out of 11

making gear specific to jobs you can buy would be very unfair to those who dont have the guild makrs since you cant get them anymore


what id like to see is

1) Gil for marks
2) Company seals for marks
3) Crafting items for marks(for crafts)

This thread is mainly for idea on what to do if they keep marks in game, and change the way on how to earn them. Your ideas of what to do if they fully remove are good though.

Keeping guild marks in game would be good for housing items im sure down the line. I'm not thinking for sort term idea quick gil/items. I reather see long term plans on keeping marks in game down the road after 2.0 woudl be able to add a lot more uses for them.

Asking for Gil for marks is just going to lead to disappointment, either they will give you 1gil per mark in which case most people will complain but still give most people that did leves every day +500k or if they give more than 1gil per mark it will mess up the economy even more. The marks from crafting classes should be used like they where in FF11 to buy crystals for signing gear (this would be a great thing to implement), crafting + gear (such as apron) and in house items that gave you a boost for that specific craft. The last 2 items mention were high guild point cost which took months to achieve and normally quite a bit of gil in items to be handed in but the rewards where worth it.

A new suggestion would be using the marks at any repair NPC to gain access to master support, this would of course be dependant on them added guild marks back into the game.

As for guild marks from battle and gathering not sure there is really anything they can add to make it seem worth while and at the same time not really game breaking. Their best option would be to convert the marks into GC marks there are at least some items there that people can get.

That really depends on how they tackle this. If they re implement the guild mark's as a means to get special weapons and armor. It would most likely not be a one shot deal. meaning that if there given a reason to exist again then they could be handed out again.

I agree with the notion, but not with all the points.

I don't agree that SE should remove some of the marks we worked hard to gain. Why should we have to regain lost marks just because SE gives us something to use them on?

I also don't agree that guild marks should be used for housing features. They're guild marks so they should be used on guild-specific things, or consumables you can use on that class, or any class in some cases like exp scrolls and food.

Side note to TheVedis: It would not be unfair to anyone since they would naturally add back the ability to gain seals once they have a purpose. And I say this as someone who has very little guild marks in all classes outside my sole lv 50.

The way I see it, class-specific gear is even more viable now that the battle classes have two primary stats to increase AA damage, and very little gear can perfectly match a class in that regard.

Make guild specific items would be my vote.

A storehouse of special rings, weapons, etc.. that all enhance certain traits and abilities or perhaps grant new ones.

That's why the suspension and use of marks is listed as temporarily suspended until they figure out how they want to proceed. If they were going to add in a long term use for marks as opposed to a one time trade in they would have to start issuing marks again. They could do something like they did in XI where you trade in a requested item in exchange for marks, or they could just go back to issuing them from leve.

If they do a one time trade in don't expect more than 1 - 3 gil per mark. That would be in line with the amount of gil you would have gotten from the leve in place of marks. If they trade in for GC seals you could loose all the seals above your GC seal cap unless they let you go over cap. I have like 400k carpenters marks so that would be a bummer.

A long term use for crafting marks would be a nice addition to the game like it was in XI, but since crafters already get wearable gear it probably makes more sense to make it something for housing when it's introduced. I suppose they could do accessories like rings and necklaces for crafting, but I'd rather see those as NM drops.

i dont think its a temp suspension of them though i think they are taking them out for good, but will puyt in a way to compensate us for them

also 3-5 gil each seems more appropriate for those marks since thats about how much gil we lost by not getting gil as a reward for all those leves(as opposed to 1)

id prefer something else as a reward though, something more universal that isnt going to be exclusive

and for those who dont know, i have well over 1million marks throughout all the jobs so its not like im saying this cuz i cant afford what they may add, i just want it to be fair

I would be perfectly content to have marks abolished and for us to be able to exchange old marks for seals at a 100 marks = 1 seals rate.

If they actually plan to continue the gain/use of marks in the future then it would probably be best to have a GC-style gear set per guild that you can buy with marks. Maybe not a set that you'd want to wear as BiS, but some pieces would be a part of hardcore sets while others would simply be a nice alternative to other similar items that might be more expensive on the wards.

All good ideas. I agree with them for the most part.

Another thought that I like is what was said in an earlier post about guild specific gear items. Would love some kind of gear set for glad that is comparable to some of the other gear, doesnt need to be the best but maybe it could have something special on it like "enhances sentinel" or something.

Another idea that I really like and am praying for is for SE to turn the GC system into the Merit system. I loved the merit system of XI, it gave me a reason to go out there and xp grind for an hour or 2 for a few merits. But before this they need to fix stats cause right now I am not seeing any kind of difference in my overall effectiveness no matter how high my stats get.

no because there are actualy uses for those faction points

Oh yeah, Guildmarks could not be removed because there was an use for them. This game isn't going through drastic changes.

I would like guild marks to be used as a way to buy higher tier spells(cure 2,3).

I think this is fair or 1/50 ratio even. It would be my first choice. Second choice would be gil at 3/1 ratio at least.

My name is Chinook Sirocco, not You People. But you do have a point about me being crazy.

And I'm not asking to remove content, just make the content meaningful and tied to current rewards instead of being outdated and useless.

I always thought they'd completely remove that virtual Faction crap that origins from Alpha/Beta to replace it by Companies. In the same manner that they removed Guildmarks because it became pointless in the new battle system.
