it's pathetic and the lack of action is just encouraging the behavior to become more prevalent and blatant
The win trading is so obvious that it is also obvious SE doesn't seem to care about cheating.
They just need to hire more on the NA/EU side so there are dedicated people monitoring all kinds of cheating and disruptive behavior (win trade, botting, etc) all the time. Certain areas of the game are really heavily hit by abuse for prolonged periods and it looks more like some private server game than an official thing run by a big company. I think even a couple of moderators could make a big difference if this was their main job and they took action against unfair behavior all day, thin the herd. A lot of people would stop even trying to cheat the system with the threat that sooner or later they'd be caught and banned.
But it's not even that they don't have enough people.
Reports for PvP are just ignored at this point.
Until now, one trader has just been dcing their alt/friend since plat and not even hiding their cheating.
Soon this win trader and another infamous one will reach top 10, and it's easy to know they're trading if you check their matches at all.
Even then, SE won't take action and PvP ranks are a joke.
Forums are just the devs pretending to listen; we could spam topics about them all over and we'd still get ignored.
Yeah I saw how close they were this morning to top 10. It's unfortunate and the exact reason why I haven't bothered to push that high. Black week will just be a mess and probably make my efforts feel wasted.
I know at least one of those players has been reported multiple times. Which yes does make me feel like the reports go ignored.
I just got into a game with a healer that afk's at the start of the match not healing done at all, and that's the third time I've seen him doing it against another certain person. What is SE doing? Nothing. "Not enough info" Yea right.
Instead of ranting (well i rant a lot in twitter and got myself a warning from SE because I was showing defamation l0l)
Try to post what happen during the *Win Trading Action* with date, time, server, and what is their role during the win tradings, this give us a headsup of when are they tradings.
I'm pretty sure posting their full name is a no no but I'm not sure if abbreviated name is allowed
Example.
Name: M. F.
Server: Tonberry - Elemental
Time: 420blazeit ~ hammer time
Role: Geomancer
Additional Info: this guy is drunk
something like that, might help the GM easier to investigate as a bunch of similar reports will just flood the inbox and making the employee being unproductive(maybe)
Also this will helps other players/victims know what happen if they come across this threads and understanding if they saw similar act in their games, thus, making a reports from their end.
The forums is a separate entity from the game itself and this has never been and will never be a place to report someone for in-game behavior. It will get you banned from posting.
The best you can do is anonymously post in a third party like a FFXIV subreddit or something if you at least want other players to be aware.
Kinda hard to prove intent when there's no way for a wintrader to stupidly out themselves in chat (since they can't chat)
Wouldn't this be easy to combat by putting a limit on how many ranked games you can play per day? Or by counting d/c and leave duty as a loss with wins and losses having the same weight? If there is a limit then a player would waste attempts trying to find their alt, if they leave the match to find their alt it does more damage than a win would recover. Instead of relying on players to police the situation just adjust the system to punish the behavior. Not with bans or anything, just make it so it's not worth it.
The problem is neither of those are good solutions and would just cause innocent players to be harmed by the system. A match limitation could go either way. They can do stuff like this easily because we wont always have a lot of people queuing, meaning a limitation would only hurt regular players, especially those regular players who would be stuck on the losing side of the trade.
The first thing I'm not quite sure what you're asking, a DC/leave does count as a loss and wins and losses are weighted by tier. This doesn't really stop the problem. You can't weigh a win the exact same as a loss in every tier. It'd be pretty agonizing plus this only really punishes the DCer and not the main.
I've heard cases where a large number of people gang-report cheating for a while and eventually action was taken and the offenders scrubbed from the rankings, but I don't think those hardcore players still care enough to be that persistent in seeking justice in the latest seasons. Actually they infiltrated linkshells and found evidence of people discussing their win trading, so that's probably the only reason intervention occurred. Without a person admitting cheating by win trade or third party tools then the moderators cite insufficient evidence, so everyone is innocent unless they admit otherwise.
Worse still, you have the conflicting stances of visual evidence not being admissible because it can be edited, but false reporting (which is what faked or edited evidence would be) is also a violation that carries its own penalties.
This places the burden of proof on the person reporting, and not the player actually breaking the rules. And I personally don't like the idea of SE implying that the evidence I might submit with a report is automatically suspect.
Which is another thing, how godly does SE think the average players are that so many people are able to so convincingly edit a video so that it looks like players speed hack, disconnect out the gate (several times), just stop healing completely and stand still (with no dc icon)...
I'd be insanely impressed at people who can edit that stuff. Especially the live streamers!
One sure thing, to go esport the match must be able being recorded by server and viewed by anyone at later time. If you can view it with the option to switch the player views, it starts be great for self-improvement.
