Shirogane Housing and Relocation

Details on Shirogane housing and relocation have been released.

If read correctly a place to store all the seasonal furniture that you don't want to dump and can use over when you feel like it.

I'm more stoked about the culinarian bit. I use the food as decoration and never eat it so the no more loss of the dish upon removal is fabulous, especially when you have time limited event items that you can't get again.

I'm stoked about all of it TBH. IDK who SE finally hired to actually think of this but, they're a genius. Finally someone(s) who thought of everything we as players think of & ask, "Why didn't they [SE] think of this or that?" "Why or how could they not think this or that was important?!" The 30% discount was a huge bonus. I didn't even consider this option so it was a nice and welcomed surprise. Also ... storage. No more housing items taking up a retainer or my FC's chest. TY SE!

It's nice to have a bit more information, however I was hoping more than 12 wards to be released, between the people moving, the scalpers, and people trying to get a house for the first time, it's going to be a mess. My FC has the gil ready to go, but even despite that I'm paranoid that with the huge rush only people that luck out by logging in the very second the servers go live, the entire ward is probably going to sell out in 10-15 minutes.

I'm just going to say it, if you have the gil, you should be able to get a house. Period.

Wow, everything they just said is more than perfect. The storage room: 10 out of 10. The discount: 20 out of 10. All other features were perfectly explained so people don't screw over themselves while moving. GG SE, you've addressed plenty of stuff with a single patch. Looking forward to it.

Yup. You need to be prepared. When they finally opened the subdivisions for the last 3 wards, I knew exactly what plot I wanted, how to get there via aetheryte, and I chose a ward that was not the first nor the last. I was in and purchase my plot in under 30 seconds. Then went back to bed.

Storage room and preserving the seasonal food items?

I was not expecting these and am absolutely thrilled.

I had to F5 just to like this post. I'm with you. Totally amazed and excited by this whole thing. SE finally pulled an amazing patch together that I feel addressed every concern the players had. Though, people will still complain because they may not get a house or they want Personal/FC housing options to have first go.

Yup! It's incredible, specially with the furniture that would break upon removal. I must be honest: The storage room is the bees' knees. Dude, you have no idea how much I've flooded my retainers with furniture I don't use. Or how many times I had to re-craft a food furniture because they break when you remove them. I'm, however, a bit concerned because I'm on Balmung. Getting a house will be harder than super savage. Like your response above, I'm also memorized and practice a route to get there as quick as possible. Hopefully I don't end up homeless. D:

I read the post as I was just waking up, so I apologize if I missed SE saying this outright, but does relocation apply to different housing sizes?

If, for instance, I want to relocate to a medium plot in Shirogane, would I be able to do so given that I currently own a small plot (provided I have the money, of course)?

Yes, there's some conditions but you can relocate to any plot.

Nice. I am hoping to upgrade to a medium house in Lavender beds when people relocate to Shirogane. I don't care for the far east look and love the forest.

I have everything I need memorized to grab the plot I'd like our little FC to have. Luckily I have solid internet & I play on PC so I have a bit of an advantage; but not always. I'm also lucky that the Aether I need to port to looks right at the plot so I could easily jump to another ward if the 1st 1 I pick isn't available.

Depending on your build you can potentially have faster loading times than anyone else. That plus stable internet? No worries then. This was how I lucked out with my house on the last Ward release. I was able to load into the ward I wanted before anyone else and had my pick of the litter.

Quicker load times if you have a good gaming PC. My old PC was taking 2-5 mins to load areas. Consoles also load slower than good PCs.

I was curious if there was an advantage with respect to the PLAY button for log in. I know on PS4 it won't activate unless you do a relog (restart). I wan't sure that was the case with PC. i have FFXIV on PC but I don't have SB for that version at the moment.

These reasons. Your CPU, GPU & RAM timings all play a role in how fast your machine loads from one screen to the next. That's why in PTs you have people who are "in the PT list" but don't show up for several seconds after you do. Their machine hasn't loaded yet. But as mentioned, that's with both lower spec'd PCs and consoles. ISP plays a role too. If you're playing on a world that's let's say, in NA but you're actually in Europe, that ping will keep you from being there prior to someone who may live right down the street from the DC.

On my PC the log in button updates on it's own so I guess that would be another advantage. Also did they decide to forgo letting FC's relocate prior to the lots going live for everyone else? Just wondering because I think I remember mention of them thinking about it but I don't recall seeing in in the notes.

With PC, once I input my credentials, I can hit play. I can then sit in the queue until the world opens and then gain access. All I have to do is look at the World Status webpages and I can see when Hyperion comes up.

There is no advantage to owning an FC or Personal house vs someone who does not. It's going to be a free for all! WHOOOO! XDD

People asked and they said they would think about it. don't think the devs ever brought it up first so according to these notes, it seems like they decided it wasn't a thing they care to do.

Nope FCs do not get a head start, it is a free for all. First come first served deal. Everyone has the same chance FC or not.

Bravo to the team for making this migration so appealing. I will finally have to listen to my FC begging for a bigger house after all (don't really care where it is).

I can't wait for balmung to implode. October is going to be exciting :o

It's a step in the right direction. I'm happy to see that SE is making housing somewhat of a priority. Of course the housing crisis is still a serious problem. We have people quitting the game because they don't have access to a major part of the game. I'd like to see an instant demolition option. FCs and individuals should be able to give up/demolish their house anytime they want and get a portion of their gil back. This would alleviate some of the current housing crisis and reduce the number of vultures on reddit selling houses for ridiculous prices.

Also, I hope they plan to add more wards to existing housing areas. And whatever happened to Ishgard housing?! Some of us would love to have a snowy, winter retreat. More housing please SE!

Can we please have more wards? All of these will sell out in 5 minutes and then we'll be back to where we started. There's too many people who simply have no access to housing whatsoever because of the shortage compared to the population.

House storage for all those event decorations! \o/

One thing that I didn't see addressed (and sorry if it was brought up in the thread, it's been a long day) was a situation where I have the necessary FC permissions to buy/relocate my FC's house, but also own a personal estate. I imagine that in that case, I'll receive a prompt which of those I want to transfer? Or am I blocked from it outright because I already own a house?

Is relocation only for FCs and not personal houses?
