Increasing Kiritos and Asunas.
I wouldn't really mind it since i think the SAO gear looks pretty fitting for ffxiv but I also highly doubt that it will ever happen. Crossovers are still quite rare and sword art online does not exactly need any more publicity. (See: people named Kirito)
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO!!!
While I'm open to certain crossovers, at a certain point, I'm pretty sure we'd just become PSO2.
According to SE creating an crossover event takes a year. We still have not heard anything about the PSO2 or FFXV event. Not saying it wont happen, but even if there was a SAO event, it would probably be placed at the back burner. Lets not forget that a popular SE game is also going to be released next year. Kingdom Hearts 3 and if rumors are correct that a FFXV event is comming, I reckon a Kingdom Hearts 3 event is closeby.
A dozen decent episodes does not forgive the multiple seasons of derp. Absolutely no.
That wretched abomination of a show should be kept far away from polite society.
That would actually be nice, but if as they say the PSO2 crossover event hasn't even took place, I doubt this one will even take root.
While I'm a fan of SAO, and the costumes were a favorite aspect of it for me, I can live without it. Like others said I really would like a follow up to the FFXIV/PSO2 crossover on our side. It really feels like they just forgot.
And that fan made NieR: Automata crossover plan was pretty good. I'd be perfectly fine with that.
Keep that trash show away from FFXIV.
We don't need an SAO crossover... We need a .//Hack crossover more.
Some of you in here are haters. You wouldn't no a good anime if it slapped ur ass lol.
I'd only want Kirito's hairstyle. I feel like his gear would only look good on Hyurs (Specifically midlanders.) And Miqo'te. Either way no thank you.
Alright, the XV crossover has been confirmed to be in development. Let's just stick with that. Nier: Automata makes sense, Kingdom Hearts, and maybe Marvel would too, because SE is working on an avengers project with Marvel, but you realize how competitive the video game industry is? Square Enix is neutral, compared to other companies, but some things are just not going to happen, because of business contracts, and conflict between competing franchises. Also, do you really want this games dev time to only go to third party cross over content? I get that we all love other things, but you have to ask yourself when its enough. There's also nothing stopping you from playing those other games. Your favorite thing is not entitled to be a crossover event.
It's just a difference of taste, but please forgive me if I don't take seriously the advice of someone who either doesn't know how or can't be bothered to spell basic, four-letter words.
I loved the premise of SAO and had high hopes when I started watching it but was appalled by the execution. I slogged through the first and second story arcs, hoping it would get better, but finally had to give up a handful of episodes into the third as the only thing that kept surprising me about it was its capacity to steadily get more terrible as time went on.
In short-
Thank you, but no thank you. There are many, many other things I would rather see this game do a crossover event with.
On topic, I never really got the hate SAO gets. I think it's more about people wanting the dislike the popular thing like sheepish hipsters and less about the actual anime. It's not a mind blowing masterpiece like Steins Gate, nor is it a very fun and interesting story like Log Horizon, but it's a decent anime and I don't see what's so terrible about it. I love how SAO is actually a gateway anime for A LOT of people and that alone does it deserve credit for.
In game an event would be pretty fun (as are most events they hold) but I don't see it happening anytime soon. But you can always ask!
Man, I really need to bond with my super-hot cousin/sister and this event could be just what we need! Wait, did I say that, or did I think that?
I like SAO. For all you haters that's is fine, stop being aggressive about it. People like it and some don't. Don't come bringing your vitriol into the thread without being nice about it. You very well can go: No, I dislike that show, and I hope it doesn't get added.
Being all angry isn't going to help them not bring it. Accept the fact serenely, that its very likely never coming over here. SAO has already run its course... why would it get a crossover? Use a bit of logic for goodness sakes.
Interjection! The people who like to crack on SAO do it mainly because of the super-aggressive SAO fanatics who attack in groups if you say you prefer Log Horizon or .Hack// There are no victims, it's all cliques raging at other cliques, and only occasionally teaming up to bash the real enemy: Naruto fans.
SAO II was the most watched anime of its season. It's never going to die, they're just waiting for the light novels to produce enough material for another 24 episode season. The movie they just put out did insane business for an anime. NO ESCAAAAAAAAAPE.Quote:

I thought SAO was decent until like, halfway through the first season. I stuck with it and finished most the second season and got steadily less impressed with it, including some parts in the second season that made me feel very uncomfortable to watch - which was where I decided I'd had enough.
It was a neat concept, but I didn't really care for the main characters (among other things, but this was my major issue). Kirito I found to be wholly unlikeable, and Asuna lost any interesting qualities she had as a character once they branded her with the waifu mark and started using her as just another damsel in distress.
It's not the worst anime I've seen, but I wouldn't call it a *good* anime. Though that is my personal viewpoint, and unlike some I'm not going to rabidly jump down peoples throats and tell them they are bad people for liking it (though I always reserve the right to smack rabid SAO fanboys over the head with a trout). I may be a weirdo though, because I couldn't get interested in Stein's Gate at all either.
Did you just interject me!? W-well... Objection! ... or not.
For the rest of your lovely post, however, I will concede the power of stupid people who take their anime and video things rabidly too far.
... I for one liked Log Horizon... until it didn't end. And Disliked .hack games but liked its few animes. (Hey. I hate consoles.... soooooooo. XD)
I will be perhaps dismayed (despite liking SAO) if another series comes out... (As I try to remember 2... that one I might not have liked. Oo) It ended as far as I know. It should stay ended. XD
If I might make a recommendaton, RE: Creators has been an absolute treat thus far. I haven't seen an anime this smart in ages. An exciting plot, interesting characters, and well-rendered animation. I haven't been this excited to watch something week-to-week since Fate/Stay/Night: Unlimited budget works. Of course, if Creators is the best of this season, then the worst thing possible has got to be Knight's and magic. THAT show is the absolute worst. I was all excited for it because I'm a fan of a good mech show, but this one is nothing but shoddy wish fulfillment with an overpowered MC who can do anything he wants, except fail.
When, not If, Titania! Which kinda bums me out too because I really want another season of Accel world. I've only been waiting FIVE FRICKIN' YEARS.
Unfortunately, I've found that mecha anime isn't my thing. My brain is not pleased by giant robots for some reason. My brain may possibly be defective. *shrug*
I'm not a huge anime buff, but stuff I have enjoyed are things like Fullmetal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, and for the slightly sillier side of things, Slayers.
Ahhhh, you like the classic stuff. Good for you, way too many people forget the 90's produced some of the best anime ever. If I might make a suggestion: Watch Martian Successor Nadesco. That is the funniest goddamned show in the universe. (It's got robots in it too, but it's super-self aware about how stupid and impractical it would be to spend money on robots, when you could just hire soldiers and build bombs.) The ancient enemy from the stars turns out to be a bunch of alien anime geeks descended from humanity who liked watching Voltron* (and thought that that was what everyone on earth was like.) They basically saw a video tape and thought it was the bible. Absolute classic. Do watch if you like comedy, the 90's, and parody shows.
*Not literally Voltron, but a generic super-serious 80's robot show. A show-within-the-show.
That does sound pretty rediculous, I may have to look it up just to see.
I don't *only* like the classics, though. I was trying to give an impression of the sort of stuff that I like :p
Slightly less old examples of stuff I enjoyed would be Soul Eater, Angel Beats! and Fate/Zero
I feel like we are kinda derailing the heck out of the thread now though. <_<
Would much rather see a Seiken Densetsu (Secret of Mana) cross over event, seeing as it was announced as a remake on August 25th.
Wouldn't they only be for Paladins, then? SAO only has one 'Job,' right?
Anyway, I don't really see how anything from a 'trapped in an MMO' anime can even work as a cross-over event in FFXIV. If it's just glamour (in which case .hack// and Log Horizon would be better candidates due to multiple Jobs), then I guess it could work, but characters from the franchise can never appear, as it implies FFXIV is just a game in that franchises world, which is just opening a can of worms Star Ocean 3 has already opened once before.
I don't think people understand what exactly brings crossovers about.
Depends on the company and game, often to serve as promotional advertisements? FFXIV has had cross over events with Dragon Quest X (run twice), Lightning (run twice; second one re-run for Lightning Returns), FFXI, Yo-kai, and GARO. I get the Lightning and FFXI events, but the others make no sense to me. Some crossovers/ collaborations are small, like Monster Hunter Generation's Warrior of Light felyne armor, Diablos armor and longsword, basically being cameos. Others are the game itself, like Kingdom Hearts, Marvel VS Capcom or Street Fighter X Tekken. PSO2 has FFXIV weapons; some were hoping to see some PSO2 stuff find its way here. No word on it. I guess the argument so far has been because it's region exclusive to Japan? So is DGX, yet we got that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'd appreciate an elaboration, because I'm just as confused as the above poster....
I used to think that FFXIV's crossovers were solely used to promote Square Enix's other properties, like other Final Fantasy games and Dragon Quest. Then there came Yokai Watch - but that could be given a pass because Yoshi P was best buds with the director of the game. Then came Garo, and I gave up any attempt to rationalize... So, I guess, really anything's possible at this point.
That said, I find the odds of a SAO crossover to be slim. While still popular, SAO is definitely yesterday's news by now. SE is much more likely to try to latch onto the popularity of a hot rising star, rather than a show that's already passed its heyday.
If you're looking for recommendations, I feel like any MMO player who can even remotely stand anime should check out KonoSuba. It's a parody fantasy comedy that skewers so many MMO tropes JUUUUST right, from the mage who refuses to do anything but cast big nukes to the masochist tank who completely neglects her DPS in favor of being hit in the face as hard as possible, to the healer who neglects her healing in favor of neat-looking spells. If you enjoyed Slayers, I'd say this is a decent successor.
GARO is because one of the guys in the FFXIV staff is behind it. Or something. I can't remember. Anyway, they did a Nier collaboration on Final Fantasy Brave Exvius that ended I think last week. Pretty slim chance it may end up on here any time soon.
