1. Make high end armor sets have Bonuses
2. make a ANIMA weapon 2.0 and have the weapon either a. have a proc effect or b. click effect
3. UPDATE the cosmetic system!!!
4. Make more full robe types for all caster classes
5. remove cosmetic restrictions for armor types, if your a whm you should be able to wear a blm robe , or staff for example and vise versa,
6. make pvp interesting
7. get rid of 95% of the cimatics, dont need to see my char bobbing his head to rescuing sheep, it might be different if our avatars talked, and we could choose what they say like in swtor.
8.make actual raids, with raid zones and multiple bosses
9. allow 3rd party addons,
10. all gear doesnt need to be designed for female toons, this is more apparent especially when you play jobs like WHM

While I agree that SE can do a lot to improve the experience for newbies AND vets in getting to at least the HW expansion, I don't think most of your systems-related suggestions hit the mark.
1)Bonuses for bonuses sake do not make collecting or using them interesting. You could argue for more horizontal gear options at max ilvl, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms
2)Proc and click effects automatically make the Anima weapon a must-have instead of "get if you want it for looks/stats/can't do final floor of Savage" if you make those effects worth using. Why do Savage if you can have the best weapon in the game bar none by grinding boar butts? For "glory"? Ha. And if it's something entirely optional like "click to restore HP with a potency of 10, 30s CD" or "10% chance to add 3 to skill speed, doesn't stack"... why bother having it in the first place?
3)Yes this needs to be done, and SE has been making noises at us that they understand our frustrations. Playing the waiting game to see what, if anything, they come up with on this front.
4)I could do without more robes as a caster, but I can see why people would want more options to be a bad-ass wizard/witch or just have something other than a boring cotton robe. More variety is better for everyone.
5)I'd like to wear some light leather armor as a healer so I'm all for this. The only restrictions I'd keep are the job-specific artifact gear for all jobs, even crafters and gatherers.
6)Making PvP interesting is subjective. I'm having a decent time grinding out the Garo achievements but I would like to see some changes in the Feast so that I don't feel completely useless if the enemy has good healers. And they definitely need to do SOMETHING about the wintrade/bot problem in all PvP modes.
7)Hey now, you can skip 99% of the cinematic scenes if you don't want to see them. I like seeing my character react to what's going on. Many of them let you breeze through the dialogue too if you only want to read and don't care to let the VAs finish too. Also, not to be a smart-ass, but this is Final Fantasy- you sign up for cut scenes and a "cinematic" experience when you decide to play!
8)Again subjective, but it would please me to no end if there were simply MORE things to do at level 70. But devs can't create content to match the pace the players consume it so while I want more epic fights and large-scale duties to complete, I understand why it doesn't happen. Maybe this mysterious "Eureka" mode in 4.1 will be exactly what I'm looking for.
9)That's not something you can make a blanket statement about. Adding 3rd party add-on compatibility means SE has to create and support APIs which siphons away dev time on other features. Also, they risk dividing their playerbase into extremes based on who has what. Don't have the boss mechanic call out? Well you should since no one's going to tell you anything or help you out since you can just download and install it, but they will kick you if you mess up too much. Don't parse? Fine, but I hope you don't want to do Savage or even EX primals with certain groups (just look at some of the arguments this has caused on the forums already and it's not even official supported!). It's a huge nightmare for the devs to tackle so it doesn't ruin the experiences they've tried to create. And all the burden will be on them to approve, deny, and moderate what kinds of add-ons are acceptable and which ones aren't. Right now they'll tolerate parsing if you don't go telling everyone that you do it and/or bully people over numbers. That's about as "official" as things are going to get and SE has every right to take that stance.
10)I can't agree with you more here. I hate hate hate that SE designs for females first and makes some lazy attempts to make it look acceptable on males, if they even bother to at all (ugh that 230/240 Eikon tank armor). I also hate that they create more glamours for females than males. Silly me for playing a male character right? If I want to have the best glamour experience I should have just made a cat girl instead. For real though, SE, stop releasing female-only glamour and nothing for guys. And recognize that even if your artists prefer to play dress-up with their waifus there are plenty of us who want to dress up our guys.
XIV isn't a perfect game but just taking ideas wholesale from WoW and slapping them onto the systems here isn't going to make it better. No one can deny that much of XIV's foundations are based on WoW but they've created systems and themes that are entirely their own. There's merit in your arguments though so don't just lash out at people who are disagreeing with you. You won't do yourself any favours by doing so. -

Firstly, it's clear you have never played a FF game before as the FF series are story-based RPGs, including the MMO titles (the previous FF MMORPG FFXI is also heavily story focused and required completion of story quests far far harder than anything found here in FFXIV to do things like use airships or even ride a chocobo). If you're expecting a game where you can just waltz into endgame battles easily without knowing why your character is entering this ancient Allagan ruin or mechanical Primal then this game is not for you.
Also, criticism of the game is always welcomed by the development team, but only if it's constructive. Sadly your post comes across as nasty and spite-filled. Hence the development team are more likely to just ignore it. In future, try and tone down the vitriol, as even if you're frustrated with something SE are more likely to respond more favorably to criticism if it's written politely and intelligently.
Now for your ideas:
The development team actually do not wish to follow FFXI's example of gear having bonus effects as they know it will result in gear favouritism for certain content. Most (but not all) tome gear can be melded with materia which means you can sort of customize gear with special stat bonuses so that's at least something. But outright gear bonuses are mostly something that will not happen.Quote:

Good lord, OP - while you make a lot of good points that I agree with later on in your post, your opening so raised my hackles I almost didn't notice them.
Suffice it to say, not only do I disagree with the notion that players should be able to skip "that crap" for free, I don't think they should be able to skip it at all. Players with patience and tolerance, who are willing to shovel a lot of dirt before they hit gold tend to be a much higher grade of player than those that scream and cry if they can't get what they want RIGHT NOW. No, plowing through the Main Scenario doesn't do anything to improve a player's gaming skills, but it DID do a lot to weed out the folks with poor attention spans and short fuses.
And that's to say nothing of the folks who might actually ENJOY the story, but feel pressured to skip it all by their friends who want them to join them at endgame sooner.
Sadly, SE wants to make money more than they want to cultivate a high-quality playerbase, and the skip scrolls do that twice over, both by funneling money to SE by way of the cost of the scrolls, and also by retaining players who aren't patient enough to wait a few weeks to get to the "good stuff".
For your other stuff, yeah - 1 and 2 I definitely agree with. Gear needs to be more interesting. 3, 4, 5, and 10 are good, as well - glamour system needs a lot of fixes (though, with 10, I'm not quite sure I agree that healer gear is as girlie as you say). Don't care enough about PvP to agree or disagree with 6. 7 is good - would definitely like to see more emotion from my character in cinematics (but wait - I thought we were skipping "that crap"?) and meaningful dialog choices would be nice (though I doubt this will happen, given that this game doesn't have "story paths" of any kind). 8 sounds awesome; would love to see this. Don't care about 9, since I play on PS4 and likely wouldn't be able to use them anyway - but as long as they don't provide PC players advantages that would make them more desirable in parties than console players, sure, addons ahoy! -

I have to say, weapon procs and effects were more interesting than just being stat sticks. I remember in some FF games you could add status effects to your physicals.
They might make balancing SS more difficult though, but I guess you could make them only proc from autos instead.

I'm sceptical that making big changes to the game to accommodate the current influx of WoW gamers we are apparently getting. If people are looking for a new game to play and are liking 14 that's great but changing the game to suit them isn't going to be a good idea if they'll just switch back to WoW the next time WoW adds something the like the sounds of.
The game does need feedback but it needs to be more than make the game more like the game I was playing, some of us like the core design of the game and alienating them just to try and pick up people look for a small change from another game probably isn't good long term thinking. -

They either become required, which is just obnoxious to manage, or they're pointless, which is... well... pointless... Opening up portions of the game via an API to external, out-of-game tools like GW2 did could be alright though. -

OP I too originally came from WoW, back in ye olden days when it was possible for a low level Forsaken to stray too close to the Plaguelands, click on the Blood of Heroes, and get wrecked by the elite lv 60s that would spawn. (Because sometimes that item mistakenly spawned in Tirisfal...good times.) What I'm trying to say is I left that behind. I came to this game because it wasn't WoW and didn't do things in the same way as WoW. I came because I wanted something with a more engaging story and different gameplay. I got that. While some of what you're after is QoL, a lot of what you're after is just WoW systems you grew accustomed to and enjoyed. No shame in that but all games do not need to do the same things in the same way.
1: Possibly. I think they've said they're toying with it. I think the Savage folks might appreciate it.
2: Anima weapon 3.0 coming soon, please look forward to it.
3: Just about everyone wants this and while SE has shot down the most popular request they have said they're interested in doing 'something'.

7: And you lost me. I like cinematics. You're free to skip them with a simple button click. As long as they don't put them in dungeons anymore I'm good.
8: I kinda enjoy that I no longer have to dedicate time to clearing previous trash/bosses to progress. I can just queue up and punch the boss that is actually meaningful to me at the time.
9: Devs put their foot down and honestly, I'm okay with that. QoL improvements should come from them, not from third party software.
10: I'm all for equal opportunity glamour. Personally, I'd like if the female armors covered us up a little more though (looking at you Dragoon AF 1.0).
OP over all your biggest mistake was saying 'I came from WoW'. That picks up a lot of hostility on the forums because, honestly, this isn't WoW and a good lot of us really don't want it to become WoW. There are a ton of things WoW does and does very well and there are a ton of things FFXIV has already stolen from WoW to it's betterment. But FFXIV really and truly doesn't need some of the things you're talking about here. The differences are what ensures that this game is it's own entity, beyond just graphics and mechanics. -
08-31-2017, 03:41 AMAylisWeapon procs even existed in this game as well at a time. The original relic and all the original primal weapons from 1.0 had special effects and procs to them. I remember Moogle weapons had a life draw effect on them, Ifrit weapons had a flame damage proc on them, I never got a Garuda weapon but I think that had a wind damage proc on it, and the relics were loaded with effects as well. What gets me the most is these all came after Tanaka, so they were designed by Yoshida and put in by Yoshida. I dunno why they didn't make the jump to 2.0 unless it involved Yoshida's quest for simplicity.Quote:

Definitely think the Glamour System has things that need addressing. Please add a glamour log into this game. Even better, allow for gears to have multiple glamour options so that we can have one glamour for, say, WHM, and another for AST, and a third for SCH. Variety is always a good thing to have, and I don't necessarily like all of my healers looking the same, or my BRD looking like MCH, etc..Quote:

If this is a request for an in-game parser, then SE will never allow this. As much as I would like an in-game parser, they're pretty firm on their stance regarding parsers. You can use them, but be discreet. The Devs are very "don't ask, don't tell" when it comes to using parsers.Quote:
