I made a Black Pearl +1 but needed a HQ oyster to do it. Your results may vary.
It's like old HQ1.
@CUL38 13/~110 pearls
i made a pearl today actually, 14 oysters later, R44 Culinarian. soo it is very possible, thank you all for the feedback :)
EDIT about 50 oysters later R48 CUlinarian i make about 6 pearls so far :)~
ok im lost, is it true that black pearls come from HQ'd Raw Oysters (Oyster + Lemon)? If so which hand, P or S? And that white pearls come from Secondary -> Oyster -> Sea Sand? Cuz a few months ago i got at least 3-5 pearls per stack of oysters(from HQ sea sand recipe). the last few weeks I've gotten exactly ZERO. >.< daddy needs some cash, what am i doing wrong?
You can make black pearls with NQ blacklip oysters with primary tools. I use quality increasing abilities to assist with it. I think if you use a HQ blacklip oyster it has the chance to be a +1 pearl, but I'm not certain. Same goes for R.Oysters and regular pearls. Also, it's rumored that some moon phases up quality per synth, though it's just a rumor.
hmm, thanks for the clarification about black pearls. there's some strange mis-information floating around out there. can this possibly be correct?:

but just so i know im not going crazy:
secondary tool --> rothlyt oysters -> HQ --> chance for white pearl
this hasn't changed right? cuz my success rate is, again, at 0/99 which is kinda bizarre (for white pearls)
hmm, somethings fishy
ive made black pearls with just the oysters.. buuuuuuuut, theres not just one specific moon phase for it..
its very very random. ive made 5 in one stack, and 1 in another, both on full moons.. lol
i use primary tool only (<-lazy)
so pretty much, you just gotta take a bunch at a time, and just throw em to the sky and hope for the best. gl!
I recently got 6 black pearls from 55 Blackslip Oysters (NQ, except for 1 HQ).
I used my secondary tool (mythril knife) every time, and did careful synths every time. I might have used preserve a few times but didn't use any crafting skills consistantly. I did have guild support and ate +control food.. and I boosted my Piety with rings (someone told me piety has an affect on quality.. there's even an ability for it or something)
I never had luck getting em before...but this little set-up worked for me.. hope it might help someone else. Good Luck~ :)
Where exactly can i find the Blackslip Oysters? I have been killing the Yarzon feeder for the few ive gotten but can they be gathered? and if so where?
Try the Hippocurfs near Camp Glory.
Why don't you just farm the Goblin Bouncers in Mor Dhona. They drop nq and hq black pearls. Seems like trying to synth them is a waste of time.
so they finally did this huh? too bad
but then again, post patch, making pearls now is REALLLLLY easy..
out of 8 HQ oysters, 7 became pearls.. and the other one was just me pressing the wrong button lol
O.o Thanks for the info on what drops the pearls!
Now if you know what drops vampire plants or pineapples, Ill be happy camping.
I get alot of vampire plants as leve rewards and in chests in those same leves. Pineapples? prickly pineapples? also from leves, the wolves in them specifically.
I heard the drop rate from bouncera is super low. Im 50cul and with the right set of abilities and a little bit of patience you could hq blacklip oysters with no problem. So far im 5 out of 10. But the first five loses was me figuring out how to hq. After i got it it was pearls heaven
While you are correct that it is pretty darn easy to make pearls as a cul now, I'd argue that it is faster to farm them off the bouncers than cook. I mean yes, if a stack of oysters fell in your lap, cul could probably make them at the same rate/faster than a person farming gobs.... but assuming you have to farm your own oysters and then grind them into pearls, the gobbies are the faster route hands down.
