Will there ever be a way to access housing features....

Will there ever be a way for the average player to access housing features without having control or ownership of a house?

I need access to a garden to make onions to level my chocobo, or dye my chocobo. Or even get crafting items for various minions and outfits.

I finally leveled my crafters to 60 I decided to clear out my orchestration rolls only to find that the lvl 3 paper needs items from company airship missions. I can only imagine what other crafting parts are locked behind this feature.

Seasonal quests have awarded me with outdoor housing furnishings... Where do I put them other than store on my retainer? I can't even preview them?

I expect everyone to respond... Well go buy these things from the market board... And I respond, why are game features locked behind other players? I want to play the game and earn these items myself. Why do I have to be locked out of content just because I'm not the fastest player in the server?

you'll have to create your own fc so you can get to do these features. it's not hard.

You still need to have a house to do those...............FCs don't just magically get a house.

It's a social game, if you are unable to acquire a house or an apartment then join an FC that has one. Only the airship stuff is locked behind a house, everything else is pretty accessable so look for the opportunities.

Does it not seem odd to you that a major feature of free companies REQUIRES housing? Why should somebody be forced to join a particular FC just to participate in content that should be accessible to all? If I'm in an FC with my friends but we can't get a house because they're all taken, why should we be stuck abandoning the FC we've made just to do content?

And no, it is not just airships locked behind housing. Garden crossbreeding is as well, and that can be quite important to crafting. There's no way around it; you need a garden.

there are ways of getting access to a garden, you're just choosing not to go any of those routes. gotta work with what you got. devs aren't likely to change this aspect of the game anytime soon.

What are the magical ways you describe? So far you have only mentioned go create my own FC... And as was stated that does not magically grant a house.

Should I abandon the FC I'm in and go join another? How likely do you think a FC that has a house will take in a random stranger and let them do whatever they want with their resources?

You can place flower pots in your fc chambers or in your apartment and grow anything that you can in a garden. They were released some time ago, the only thing you can't do with them is crossbreed

With regards to garden access and chocobo training, a lot of FCs, from what I know, allow everyone access to those features. Usually the only things that are heavily restricted are FC Chest access, and things like demolishing the house/relinquishing the land. But for simple things like gardening and using the chocobo stables, those are usually open access for all ranks in an FC.

I know that the Apartments have chocobo stables. Do they have the same features as a stable you would have in a personal or FC house? If so, there's your answer to at least training and feeding your chocobo. Still need actual garden plots to crossbreed for Thavnairian Onions though, which flowerpots cannot provide.

I for one would love if they'd implement an instanced "greenhouse" for players who want to do large plot gardening for crossbreeding and a instanced "hangar" for FC's that'd like to do airship missions but weren't able to grab a house.

In home pots and planters are cute and all, but they really aren't a solution for granting players access to the plant rearing mechanics in place.

When the majority of useful plants are locked behind cross breeding, which you can't do with flower pots, I hardly consider that giving access to the feature.

As far as I'm aware, the chocobo stables outside the apartment are functionally the same as FC ones.

However, an apartment still doesn't allow the usage of outdoor furnishings (add balconies please); funnily enough, it seems as though the majority of holiday furnishing awards have been outdoors.

What are you talking about? I'm honestly confused. Do you know how gardening or even housing in general works?

There is still an option to simply use friend's garden. I don't know about others, but I wouldn't mind letting stranger use mine if asked nicely.

And btw. housing isn't exactly that hard to get for "average player". I play on most populated EU server (at least before SB, not sure how transfers affected it) and got a small house in less than 6 months after I started playing. I actually saw another free plot long before that but didn't have enough gil to buy it.

Yeah i do. but you choose not to get a house or find access to a house. therefore you don't get to garden in a plot. thems the breaks.

Finding a house is not easy lol...there is far less housing than there are actual players. And by the way, I have a house. On Balmung no less, so I know what it's like. I'm sure OP would love to get a house. A lot of people have the money, far more money than they would need actually, there is just no housing available.

I would say that they don't have enough gil. Having enough gil just to buy the house is not enough. There's plenty of people selling their house in Balmung (yes, it's against tos but everyone is doing that) anyway.

So should we really be advocating going against the TOS to have access to some features of the game? This is really just a silly argument.

There's other method that require more effort to get a house even in the more populated server that don't violate the tos.

Thing is, when demand is more than supply, you have to put in more effort than others, or work smartly. Its not like SE will change their policy soon. All I had seen is players complaining without trying to put in the effort.

The Workshop is an instance inside of another instance. There are zero reasons to be attached to a house, in fact, it makes no sense to be in a house instead of in a major city with an airship landing area.

What, you mean waiting and waiting until you're lucky enough for a plot to open up? Because that's the only way you're getting one without technically violating ToS. And that isn't hard work, that's getting lucky.

We absolutely should be keeping SE to task on this. It's ridiculous, and in no way should it be defended. As mentioned, there should be a public airship hangar and greenhouse. That doesn't require SE to change their entire system.

If you are actually doing that its no effort at all. Its just testing your luck.

There's a few more active method to free up a house without violating tos and law. It's abit devilish to use those method though. Tips: something to do with dealing with bot.

If it involves using a bot, it most definitely violates ToS...

It involves bot but it don't involve using the bot or being related to them in anyway that violate the tos. I had given away alot trade secret here which I used to secure a few houses for my FC members.

Are you saying to report a bot and hope that the bot's house gets taken away or purchase the house from someone that never really earned it? That might work on the JP servers where I've heard they actually deal with reported bots in a timely manner, but on the EN servers you can report someone for it and if anything is even done at all, it's not noticeable because they get to keep playing and keep all their ill-gotten gains. Please note I'm not promoting the act, it's against TOS and I would love for Square to weed them out, but from experience reporting obvious botters (running in perfect circles until aggro, kill critter then back to circles in the exact same spot until a respawn/aggro) it's not being handled. They might track down the major groups to take out in waves, but individuals seem to skate by. I have a sneaking suspicion that the 4 people (FOUR for this many users?!) don't speak/read English well or at all. We need localized teams handling the reports/dealing with abusers while forwarding pattern reports and such to the main team based at hq.

I guess that's why. There's actually a bunch of bot getting banned in JP server, and I tracked down their name after they went missing in FATE and gathering zone (I actually made a sheet of every house owner including single player fc, and compare it with the botters).

45 days later I got myself a mansion.

Though tbh It's still doable in EN server for last 2 month (after SB expansion), and I had heard of many botters got banned in FATE and Frontline (including EN server). You can definitely see that the number of permanent banned account went up drastically after SB is released too.

I think it's because you didn't just specify and then mentioned that it's somewhat devilish to do so it makes the mind wander as to what you meant. I think most of us have no qualms over reporting someone letting a program play the game for them and stripping them of assets they likely didn't procure on their own. :)

That's considered devilish in JP server because most of us don't really mind people botting.

Yes, this would be why, combined with the reluctance to explain what exactly she meant.

They don't do anything about botters on NA servers. There are people botting on my server that have been since I started playing, and they've been reported numerous times.

They do things about it. I have seen several people try to sell off the demolish timing of the estate of their banned account in NA.

My stand is still the same. It's not hard to get an estate if you are willing to give effort. But most refuse to put in extra effort even though housing is competitive. In a competitive market, only those who placed in the most effort/thought win.

There's actually at least another 2 method to get an estate without violating ToS/law that I know of. Pretty sure there are more but those are suffice to me.

Your supposed system only works because of resellers but if instead of resellers all house owners were like me GL HF finding a new house in at least one more year. In normal circumstances, you can do nothing but stalk houses and owner loadstone to guess if that person is no longer playing and keep an eye to his plot.

Except ideal case never happen. You gotta make use of what's happening.

Also, there is another efficient method to stalk if some house is inactive, but I guess most people will not spend the effort to even try to think of one and just complain.

I really don't understand why you are like this. No matter how you slice it, there isn't nearly enough housing for all the players in the game.

And why should there be? It's not like there is any feature except gardening locked behind housing for personal use.

FC wise, it's really easy for a FC to get a house if they actually decide to work for it.

I enjoy the housing limit because it separate the player that's willing to work towards a goal from player who don't. It's not like you need to take more time than savage raid to secure a house.
