What villain should represent 14? and why?

Personally I think Warror of Darkness is a good pick, because it literally represents our character from a different world. It should be an interesting dynamic between him and WoL. Although I'm torn because Zenos is decent villain, but it's more of Lyse's enemy than Y'shtola.

Personally, I would think one of the Ascians. The Warrior of Darkness feels like the opposite representation of our character, which would feel appropriate (to me) if our character was the protagonist in NT (not exactly feasible/practical), however the Ascians represent a primary threat and are sort of a direct opposition to Eorzea and Hydaelyn overall, which while our characters are technically from somewhere on Hydaelyn, we're still sort of the X-Factor where-as Y'shtola is one of Hydaelyn's "native" inhabitants.

Maybe 'Nael' van/Deus Darnus? Going by story, it is technically because of them that ARR is even a game :P

If 'EX' forms are still a thing, then Nael/Eula can take on their dragon form.

Sadly I don't hold much hope seeing an antagonist for FFXIV appearing in Dissidia NT as FFXI never had antagonists representing it in the previous two Dissidia games either, they only featured protagonist npcs on Cosmos's side (Shantotto and Prishe).

It also doesn't help that the Garlean legatee like Gaius all look too much like FFXII's Gabranth who is already in Dissidia, so I'm liable to say one of the Ascians - probably Lahabrea or Elidibus. I'd prefer Gaius though, given he was the closest to an 'antagonist' for both 1.0 and ARR (he even appeared on ARR's cover for the US version after all). But again I don't see it happening alas.

Gaius van Baelsar is the obvious choice imo.

I think Zenos would be a good fit for it, especially because his different swords would be perfect for a stance change EX skill.

I'm also kind of hoping they decide to include Yugiri down the line, since we don't have a dedicated ninja as a fighter yet, only characters with a few ninja skills (Bartz and Onion Knight).

why not adding both Gaius AND Zenos?

Zenos to promote Stormblood, but personaly, I think Gaius van Baelsar or an Ascian would be a better choice.

Then , I would prefer Thancred. He deserves more its place than her.
But, I would love to see Alisaie or Gosetsu in Dissidia.

No one villain really stands out enough in my eyes...

Y'shtola's been the main XIV representative in every crossover. I'm not entirely sure why her of all characters, but it seems like something they're committed to.

Sloppy guy and that emperor person that keeps returning to the side raids.

Gaius Van Balsaer, Thordan, the Garlean emperor, Neal, Zenos, etc. though gaias would be my first choice. Everyone is familiar with him.

I vote neal with his dragon form and or gaius

Thordan or Zenos.

Thancred or Yugiri. This is because he appeared in DFF Opera Omnia and he could be made distinct to Zidane with a more Ninja-esque skillset than Zidane's Thief + Genome skillset. Zenos, imo is not really a good idea because of Sephiroth taking his spot of "Heavy Samurai", essentially. Gaius seems ok but his character isn't deep enough to be declared a possible DFF character. It's possible that Gaius hasn't fought with his full strength, or is just weak because he relies too much on the Ultima Weapon rather than his own.


Possibly the only other person I can think of giving a chance is Alisaie as a Red Mage. Here are her statistics:

A shoot character who can rush in and fence with a Rapier and cast from afar while giving Embolden to every party members. She is slow at casting spells which hits hard, but will always proc Dualcast. She also has a balance gauge, You'll enchant your melee attacks with at least 25 White/Black gauge. Monomachy is applied to every melee hit for 10/20 seconds for only Alisaie that increases damage dealt and decreases damage taken by 15%.

Bravery Attacks:
Neutral Ground: Jolt (1 second cast, fast projectile, If hit, will grant you 12.5 Black & White gauge)
Forward Ground: Riposte (If Enchanted, does more damage and knocks back further, and applies Monomachy)
Backwards Ground: Verfire / Verstone (2 second cast. Verstone when held. Both shoot fast projectiles. When hit, Verfire will deal DoT to bravery, while Verstone will apply a -DEF debuff. Each hit granting 25 Black / White gauge)

Neutral Aerial: Impact or Scatter (1 second cast. Charges up for 1 second at a certain location before exploding. Long range.)
Forward Aerial: Redoublement (Lunges and stabs the enemy rapidly before knocking them back. If Enchanted, does more thrusts and applies Monomachy)
Backwards Aerial: Verthunder / Veraero (2 second cast. Veraero when held. Verthunder places down a trap of lightning bolts, while Veraero throws a medium-speed moving projectile that explodes into multiple hits like Aero II)

HP Attacks:
Verholy: Laser Satellite type attack that shoots down a laser beam at a medium AoE after 1 second. Has a telegraph. AoE is much larger when used at 100 White gauge, and consumes all of its gauge.

Attaque Au Fer: A lunge attack that connects into a combo, ending with a slam to the ground that deals HP damage. Good for wall rush. Consumes all Black & White gauge, which will increase damage up to 50% at full gauge, making it the most bravery damaging HP attack.

Parry: Puts her blade in position for a counter attack for half a second. If it succeeds, Alisaie will assault the victim with a flurry of stabs. All or nothing. High risk, high reward. With 50 Black & White gauge, it will apply a stun for 5 seconds when successful. If it whiffs, it will be gone.

Edda would fun.

Sadly i doubt they will add the WoD, a few months back they did CG scans of FF characters with the WoL Highlander being named Meteor (ironic) and it could be that they add him as another hero rather than adding a villain (XI had two heroes)

Since Y'shtola represent FFXIV, then Gaius for the vilain.

I agree we won't see antagonist from FFXIV, because there is simply too many of them.
As for me I would like to see Nidhogg, as he was my favorite villain so far. He could be represented as Estinien when he was possesed by Nidhogg.

I'm pretty sure if there's a ffxiv villain, it would be gaius...

I still hope, they'll choose Nael van/Eula Darnus because technically she and Y'shtola are both from 1.0 and Nael was the main villain back then. :3c
And I would be the happiest person if I could see Ser Zephirin on the side of the bad guys. Not because I want to beat him down but more because I'm one of those weirdos who really really really liked him in Heavensward. :( :( :(
They could bring Haurchefant as his good-guy-counterpart too.

In all seriousness, Nidhogg was probably the best developed villian in FFXIV, but him being a huge dragon complicates it. Unless it's Nidstinien, but Estinien is a Kain archetype, and Kain's playable.

The issue with Garlean characters is with them being inspired visually by Judges of FFXII, that would make implementing them a little repetitive, as we have one. The Ascians suffer from very little individual identity, minus the mostly non-combative Elidibus.

Edda's one of the few iconic "baddies" that could feasibly be implemented, and I think her design could grab a few non-FFXIV players, but I feel like FFXIV will just follow suit of FFXI and have multible hero characters.

They have a much larger, better cast to choose from that could add a new flavor of gameplay. Alphinaud could work with his role being pet job could bring some new ideas not possible on the PSP.

Or a Manderville.

Which is why Nael would be perfect. Not even the Judges transform into a humanoid Dragon with Bahamut's likeness (I wonder what her summon quote for Bahamut would be).

That brings up a concern gameplay wise as if Neal goes into "Eula loves Bahamut" mode, isn't that just edging in on Terra's gameplay when she goes all Esper?

It's not just visuals that need to be thought about when considering a new character.

That said Nael isn't a bad choice thematically if they willingly embrace the whole Eula switch over the White Raven moniker. Perhaps instead go in a similar direction of Smash Bros Corrin, where instead of being a sort of form she can build into, she goes dragon-esque like attack by attack. Or, heck, keep her in dragon form the entire time.

Any Lalafell would be my choice.

I know it'll never happen, but it'd be so awesome if Ser Zephirin was the villain and he could change into the Knights of the Round form and do his signature aetheric javelin toss while saying "you shall fall as did your ally".

Well there's apparently going to be up to 50 characters in the game, so I imagine there'd be a few similar EX abilities.
Terra and Zidane both use Trance as their EX ability, however Terra's increases her STR, MAG and SPD, whereas Zidane's does a thing for his Steal, as well as allow him to dash for much longer and removes debuffs.

For Nael, her EX Ability can just be called 'Bahamut's Favour,' which increases her attack power. When she does it a third time, she transforms (permanent unless KO'd). Increased attack power, Brave Regen and movement (this would make her slightly similar to Kuja's EX instead).

Actually, something else. Lunar Dynamo. It'll still work similarly to the previous idea, but instead it has to actually hit someone. It will either need to be used 1-3 times (depending on how many get hit by it) before you can even transform (and it follows similar rules to FFXIV's. Target must not be too far and not too close). Drains 500 Brave and some HP as well. Changes into Bahamut's Favour after transformation.

We already have Shantotto, and I feel that's enough. Not one Lalafell character in XIV is as iconic as Shantotto... not one, even from a villain sense. Yeah Yuyuhase and Lolorito are butts but they're not 'special' butts.

As far as putting someone in from XIV other than everyone's favorite catgirl (not really), I would think Zenos would be good for the villain side. I preferred him over Gaius or even Nael from 1.0.

I'd personally opt against anyone currently dead since they're going to be pretty irrelevant for a bulk of the game.

But if we move beyond the concept of a villain, Hildibrand would be a fun choice.

They could make it so that her super form alters how her attacks behave, similar to Gabranth. But make her less useless outside of that form. <_<

Well, hell if 50 characters is the end goal, slap Neal in. Let the White Raven rise! At least I'd rather her than Gaius, whose popularity on the forum is something I don't have any semblance of understanding. Nero'd be better for that with his rocket hammer and gadgets if we want a Garlean.

Actually Nero would be pretty rad in the long run as the "bad" representative.

I want Edda now that the bug's in my ear, but an overall cast that size in NT does open up more unusual possibilities and more options. I would love Hildibrand, but we've never seen him in combat, so that could either mean he's got no chance at all, or that the devs could have a ball doing whatever to make it hilarious. Nashu could tag team him and use her bombs. He would make a pretty flawless option for the "joke" character of Dissidia.

Also, why is everyone salty about Y'shtola being the FFXIV rep of the franchise? She's not my favorite either but I think she's the best choice out of the Scions to use across the board, ugly 1.0 gear and all.

Anyway, I think, other than Alphi, Yugiri would be a hit as a representative of FFXIV. She already has 2 familiar costumes, and while Lyse has as much/more story relevancy, Yugiri being our first instance of the Auri race made especially for FFXIV could give her more appeal for the crossover.

Plus, I fear them trying to implement Yda/Lyse would be a gargantuan spoiler for anyone considering FFXIV that hasn't jumped in yet, since you know there would be demand for her masked costume to be an option.
