Chain stratagem + bane?

If you use chain stratagem on a mob then cast your DoTs and bane them to every mob, do the baned DoTs get the boosted crit rate? I know with buffs the entire DoT gets snapshotted upon casting it and those buffs spread with bane, but not sure if it works the same with a debuff.

I doubt it. I think Chain Strategem only works on the mob who has it on them. I think it's classed as a debuff on the mob, not a buff to your spells.

Thinking about that... Why doesn't Bane spread the crit up too?

Would be cool if deployment tactics worked on chain stratagem.

Deploy works on a party member and Chain is used on an enemy. Bane would make more sense...
If the dev team wanted, it could be applied on a friend as well- so it would crit heals - then deploy away. It would have synergy with SCH skills, but I guess it doesn't work as it is right now and they would have the ALL crit--up thing (Both heals and attacks would crit more...)

Pretty sure Chain snapshots the DoTs and Bane spreads the snapshot DoTs to the enemies, similar to how Contagion is snapshot for SMN DoT Banes.

I think it would be rather interesting if Bane worked with Chain, it would make dealing with large pulls quicker and for raid a reason to take Scholar over Ast or Whm to deal with add heavy fights. Especially if there are large groups of them.

Everything else in the game snapshots, don't know why chain would be any different.

^ this, smn's contagion is a debuff that increases magic damage taken on a single target, if you DoT that target then bane, the DoTs on every target hit by bane will take the increased damage, the same principle should apply to chain stratagem so using DoTs on a chain stratagem target then baneing them will increase crit hit rate of all the DoTs.

It's just easier to test this with contagion as it's a direct damage increase while chain is a chance for a crit, but since they're both debuffs they should work the same way.

while this would be nice but dont see SE implementing it this way since it gona affect everyone doing dps on the target

Has anyone actually done any testing on this? I can see Crit working in two ways - either (1) the Crit percentage is determined at the time of DoT application like everything else or (2) when the DoT ticks, it rolls a Crit Chance to determine if that particular tick actually Crits. A cursory search on Google netted nothing concrete but if DoTs work like #2 then Bane'ing DoTs that are applied when Chain Strategem is on the target would make no difference to the crit rate on the DoTs that are transferred.

Would be curious to see if anyone has came upon any testing to this effect in their travels. I'm leaning more towards #2 but would like to proven otherwise.

Chain extends with BRD debuffs, I presume it expands with bane.
