Class/Job Questing... Still Whack.

okay... i had thought things would be different in Stormblood than Heavensward... sadly, no. :(

first a lv65 Job Quest is locked behind a level SIXTY-THREE MSQ called "Tide Goes in, Imperials Go Out". not even sure why this is so... it is the 2nd to last quest available in The Ruby Sea. and we could have taken on the Job Quest much sooner.

like... i can understand why they are locking some quest. due to not even having the areas unlocked. due to them all being blocked by questing... i feel sorry for people who are only interested in crafting/gathering. (don't even get me started on the stupid aether current crap)

but here is the REAL kicker... now i can accept a lv68 Job Quest, but guess what? i can't complete it! it takes the player to the The Azim Steppe. which again... is locked behind questing.

WHY!? for starters, why lock-out a quest that could be completed much sooner? then... why allow us to take a quest that can't at all be currently completed?


seriously backwards. i fail to understand... maybe i am stupid, but that wouldn't be anything new. if someone could please explain Square Enix's backwards logic to me, i would be super grateful.

Certain job quests are locked behind main scenario progress because events in the quest reflect something that happened in the main scenario. Why would you need to do the job quests before the main scenario anyway?

because i am level enough to do it... so why wouldn't i want to? personally, i was still questing through HW content when SM released. ended up getting like lv65 before ever starting SM. couple that with how slowly i play... daily roulettes bump you up in no time.

regardless... it has nothing to with how I myself plays the game. i just find it silly to disallow taking quests you should otherwise be able to complete. then turn around and allow the taking of a quest that you can't actually complete at that moment.

not matter how look it... its whack. if they are going to lock quest, then they shouldn't just stop with one. i just don't understand the backwards logic.

lucky for me WHM job quests were entirely in The Fringes ^^

Yeah, its only like that for some classes. The level 68 BLM quest sent me near Lyse's hometown, everything else took place in ARR or HW areas. I cant speak for any MSQ gating, as i didnt outlevel the MSQ at all.

It's been like this since ARR. The SMN quests were locked off until you had beaten the primal whose egi you were gonna learn to summon. It was also like this with certain job quests in Heavensward.

As Mholito said, some job quests are locked with a reason, usually to deal with the story.

not getting the point... they have these things in for a reason, i know that and said that.. but why stop at just one? why then immediately afterwards allow someone to take a quest that can't actually be finished? they have checks in place to see you couldn't do the previous one. it is a simple matter of checking what quests are complete. regardless of how much i overleveled the MSQ line, there's no way i could go to a certain area unless progressing it. so why half-ass lock out checks?

it isn't a huge issue. i can just drop the quest and pick it back up again later. but there really is missing logic from it. they start a system and don't finish it. what is that? i just don't get it is all. no worries, though.

You dont get why locking out certain quests due to storyline requirements is a thing? Im not seeing the issue here at all. If I was 2 levels ahead of the MSQ I'd be trying to blow through it instead of grinding daily roulettes, anyway. Would you prefer MORE lockouts that don't make sense at all? Atleast the reasoning behind your gripe is a reasonable one. "This hasn't happened yet, therefore you can't do this." I swear some people are just never satisfied at all regardless of what they're doing.

it doesn't matter how over-leveled i am compared to the MSQ. and you don't grind daily activities. -_- i just happen to play and progress slowly, plus doing other things like leveling-up crafters. and as stated before, i was also still questing through HW when SB released.

like, i understand they have lock-outs on certain quests for a reason. but why limit it to just that one line of reasoning for certain events in the MSQ? a player is such-and such level, so they can accept this quest. but they haven't completed this other quest, so regardless of level, we know they can't visit a certain area and therefore also cannot complete the quest. it isn't as if they lack the means to do this.

anyhow, i wasn't gripping... and just didn't understand why they would use a system and then suddenly stop using it.

but it would be very cool to at the very least if the quest window showed that you needed to have access to a certain part of the game to actually complete it. there may not be a whole lot of people that play as slowly as me, but... if there are others, i would imagine there are those who wouldn't mind knowing the quest they are about to take can't actually be completed at the time.

Because everything in this game is locked behind the msq. If you can do a msq it should be prioritized before job quests. In SB the job quests just give xp anyways except the 70 one of course.
